Revenge porn is is the sexually explicit portrayal of one or more people that is distributed without their consent via any medium.

Slightly more than half of all U.S. states have laws expressly applicable to revenge porn: Alabama,[66] Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California,[13] Colorado, Connecticut,[67] Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois,[68] Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan,[69][70] Minnesota,[71] Nevada, New Hampshire,[72] New Jersey,[13] New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma,[73] Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia,[74] Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.[75]

It's a felony in Arizona.

Look, I'm not a feminist. I'm just a legalfag who cringes every time I see "wwyd" threads or "shouldn't share" threads because I realize most of you are ignorant of the fact that you're putting yourselves in legal and financial jeopardy. Revenge porn laws are real. They actually are on the books. And if any of the women posted in these thread live in any of the states that have passed revenge porn laws, or if you live in one of them when you posted it, you are breaking those laws by posting their image here without her permission.

This is just a fact. $1000 PER IMAGE. SIX MONTHS IN JAIL, FIRST OFFENSE.
>think about it

Just a bit of banter though innit

Considering that the lobbying effort to pass these laws began on Jezebel, I doubt the prosecutor and the judge would see it that way.

Just a bit of banter though innit

Yeah but it's just a bit of banter

Clearly this is just banter

Nice new pasta
Excellent bit of banter too

This isn't pasta. I literally just wrote it.

Look, I'll level with you. I don't care.
After all, it's just banter.

>literally
>not feminist
Definitely bantz

Huh?

its a weird combination of plagiarism, libel, and slander laws with a touch of consent mixed into it all.

>hinges on the posted person asking for the material to stop being posted

it just sounds like a shitload of finicky stuff designed to wring some money out of people

I agree people who are sharing OC are complete fucking retards. The person in the photo can likely figure out who leaked it to begin with. Right now there is a lot of crack down on people in high school who are doing this.

>girl in high school gives bf nudes
>bf shares nudes with entire school, girl gets ridiculously shamed
>girl goes to cops
>cops investigate, hand out real criminal charges to bf and co
>etc

its to protect assholes from sharing private shit on this new fangled internet smartphone shit

If a girl sends me a nude picture of herself, that picture becomes my property.

I own it.

nope. the entire purpose for revenge porn laws is to establish that people own all nude images of themselves, even the images they send to other people. You cannot DISTRIBUTE a nude image of someone without that person's consent, no matter where or how you obtained it.

You tell em, dad.

MFW there are no laws against revenge porn in Ohio

It's truly Gods country

Who cares? Only retards do that shit so if they get caught fuck them they deserve it.

It doesn't matter. If the girl you distribute lives in a state that has these laws, she can press charges in that state.

How many nude images do you have of girls on your hard drive?
If you have posted any of them on Sup Forums, you're breaking this law.

I don't do that, dumbass, can you not fucking read?

I'm on the fence about general revenge porn, but for celebrities I have no sympathy.

...

Idk still seems like banter to me

Oh, wait, I do, here's one for you.

Looks like I have one of you

The millennial warcry

it literally is

Did you obtain that woman's consent before you distributed that image?

If you didn't, you just committed a crime that carries a 6 month jail sentence and a $1,000 fine.

Well obviousmy it's not private if she willingly shared it with the boyfriend now is it?

That's me, stupid

It's our duty as citizens of the U.S.A. to practice civil disobedience when we believe our rights are being trampled on.

No one sues paparazzi for shoving cameras in people's faces without consent, and without due compensation for the photos taken. Therefore women should have no right to legal recourse when a photo they posed for is shared.

>hinges on the posted person asking for the material to stop being posted
If this is the case then it seems like as long as the person in the photo doesn't know they're being shared then no crime is being committed.

oh, well then you may proceed.

Civil rights only works when you have journalists supporting your cause. If the press isn't supporting your cause, the public will never become aware of it, politicians will never experience pressure to capitulate your civil disobedience will not work.

fuck. I just googled it and thousands of people have been charged with this.

how the fuck have I never heard of this?

Because getting charged is not the same as being convicted. And those thousands who are arrested are just a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of people sharing nudes. They can't possibly arrest even a tenth of the people who are committing this victimless crime. Plus the crime hinges on the girl reporting it, which most never will out of well deserved shame.

^ op knows whats up. i went through a pretty scary legal battle involving it. now im even afraid to go on Sup Forums. It's not worth it.

what a Sup Forumsrainwashed asshole lol

How exactly is this able to override copyright law which states that the person who takes the picture owns it? If I take a nude photo of my girlfriend with her consent, that photo belongs to me and I can share it as I please.

Only idiots that post names/doxx people get charged. Don't doxx, morons. And don't send to family

>Don't doxx, morons. And don't send to family
Just do it anonymously

That too, but a lot of the laws define the act of 'revenge' as including listing personal information, which many people never do. So be anonymous and don't give out any personal info, ever.

This is a dumb thing to criminalize. Just teach women to not be whores.
