This is the biggest, bullshittiest sanctimony there is. It's like allowing one nation to have a military and then saying "We don't want to be like those atrocious people, we're going to disarm ourselves."
Part of the function of these groups (on any side) is to articulate what exists and survey the world from a particular point of view. It's not continuous warfare and predation. It's realism, it's a thinktank. You are speaking from an avoidant, sheltered, sanctimonious position where you think that by presenting yourself as incapable and/or unwilling to even explore these thoughts and possibilities that you are blameless and wise.
Your speech (essentially "be the change you want to see", "you're no better", etc.) is naive. There is no reward in actually behaving that way. You are sheltered and would not be able to put these principles into action in real life if pit to the test. Thinktanks need to exist.
