Look at Vancouver, where foreigners (read: Chinese) are buy all of the houses and instead of renting them out of whatever, they're just sitting on them. Same things happens here in London. Now most people will never actually buy a home and are stuck renting for their entire lives. They've turned the housing business into just another investment sector, and the ones that suffer are the average citizen.
If it were domestic buyers doing this, you could argue it's not so bad, but this is foreigners artificially inflating the prices.
