Chess IS the Game of Kings.
Go has its merits, but ultimately it is a simple game. Simple isn't necessarily a bad thing, but in the case of which game is better or not, I'd definitely choose chess.

So? There are very few rules and moves, but that doesn't make it one bit less complex. To the contrary, it's the epitome of 'easy to learn, hard to master'.

Like I said, simplicity isn't necessarily a bad thing. Go absolutely has a higher "skill cap" if you'd like to use video game terminology for it, but Chess is just a whole different beast. For me, it's like comparing Pong to tennis.
The simple truth of Chess is that it's both simple and approachable, but also complex and deep. It improves logical thinking as well as creative decision making skills. And the simple fact that you can go any city in the world and play a game of chess, even without understanding the local language is absolutely fascinating. It's almost as universal as mathematics.
