She tried to lead from the front lines.
That was something wrong.
He just liked getting fucked by his dad
there is nothing wrong with that
...
She went off to fight with the men and left her town under the protection of literal whores.
Nope. Nothing wrong here.
why are there so many female antagonists in ghibli movies?
there are people who actually watched that?
it was lepers and factory workers you fucking retard. the entire town was a socialist plutocracy where everyone worked pretty much for eboshi, who was the rich bitch that controlled the town, but took care of her people. thus any and everyone could be conscripted for battle or defense. She left the town in protection with her leper hit squad and women because she had personally trained them and weighed the assassination of the forest god as a maneuver that would attract the majority of the forest spirits forces. plus the fuck tons of bombs they had. the town was supposed to be safe. she didn't count on the retardation of the corrupted pig gods.
most of the best war generals did. only when the class divide and oligarchy became the political convention did french, brit, and american faggots start dying behind the lines to heart attacks because tehy couldn't stop eating fucking sausages
Because female protagonists require a foil.
...
Eboshi's women (the ones who weren't lepers) were ex-prostitutes.
...
AH fuck. You are right. Still, they were ex-prostitutes. Eboshi was boss taking in the fringe elements and turning them into her spiritual warriors of the gunpowder religion. Plus aren't there multiple jokes about how all the men are crazy about eboshi's girls and the girls care about them in return? Like the town loves each other is what I'm saying.
Billy bob's character, apes, and pig gods were the only bad guys in that film imho

Only thing Ivan did wrong was the right thing, since it bit him in the end.
>Help a cucky Englishman with no combat training rescue his wife getting raped by muslims
>Force a muslim farmer to help and end up paying him in the end for his work
>Save an Afghan war vet when your military wouldn't
>Save a British woman from getting raped by Chechens
>A Chechen woman and some children hiding behind a gun totting muslim get killed in your rescue
>Englishman whose wife you saved claims you abused the farmer
>Farmer says you abused him after you pay him
>Face jail time for murdering Chechens while at war with them since you were off duty
>Do the right thing
>Get used as a scapegoat and punished for it
Ivan did nothing wrong.
In a sense, she didn't. She destroyed the forest and all the spirituality that came with it for the sake of greed and power, but at the same time created a society that could benefit women and the infirm in a way they never could earlier. Everyone had a place and equal purpose under her rule
I've seen Mononoke get a lot of shit for being a preachy environmentalist parable, but I thought it gave industrialization a pretty fair defense
...
At first I was on her side. But by the end she was kinda a bitch m8
The pig was corrupted as a product of Eboshi's soldier's iron. Ashitaka only put him down to defend his sister/bride (idk if it's ever clarified) and village from the mad god and had no idea it would give him the powers that it did. Eboshi saw these powers and was filled with envy which is which she did something stupid like sell her own people out to Jiro and try and kill the greatest god of the forest.
TLDR: Eboshi did some things wrong
...
The whores are, in the film's context, better shots than the men. That's why she let them defend Iron Town.
>Eboshi saw these powers and was filled with envy which is which she did something stupid like sell her own people out to Jiro and try and kill the greatest god of the forest.
Whoa what? That's one helluvan inference man. Jigo himself says that Eboshi owes him one for supplying the rifleman to drive the boars out of the forest, including Nargo. So he calls her up to collect and says "kill the god for me."
>Destruction of resources and heritage is okay if done for the sake of "Equality"
This is what women actually believe.
Agreed.
Right, let's cut to the chase. Do you agree with industrialization? Do you agree with our progression of technology? You're more than welcome to strip yourself naked, drop your phone and computer and live in the woods. See how long you last.
>nothing wrong
>greedy as fuck
>went on a quest to kill a God while her women were left defending their village alone
>despite Ashitaka telling her it's not a good idea every time they met
>using her own men as bait and then blowing them up along with the enemy
>went on a quest to kill a God while her women were left defending their village alone
The women are, in the film's context, better shots than the men.
>greedy as fuck
She saw an opportunity to make a rich city and she took it.
>despite Ashitaka telling her it's not a good idea every time they met
No he doesn't. He just doesn't want her to do it.
>using her own men as bait and then blowing them up along with the enemy
Jigo didn't tell anyone about the bombs or landmines.
>The women are, in the film's context, better shots than the men.
But they were still outnumbered and on the brink of defeat.
>She saw an opportunity to make a rich city and she took it.
Only to completely destroy it because of the same greed, picture related
>Jigo didn't tell anyone about the bombs or landmines.
I haven't watched the movie in a long time but that's not how I remember it. If that's true then she misplaced her trust and that's another thing she did wrong.
>Only to completely destroy it because of the same greed, picture related
No. Jigo came back to Iron Town to collect on a debt he felt Eboshi owed her, as he supplied Eboshi rifleman to drive the boars out.
>But they were still outnumbered and on the brink of defeat.
And they were prepared to die for it, they agreed with Eboshi's choice. They only ever want to flee when the Nightwalker starts coming for its head.
>I haven't watched the movie in a long time but that's not how I remember it. If that's true then she misplaced her trust and that's another thing she did wrong.
She owed a debt.
And if you're a Lady of War who can defend herself from Samurai, why the fuck would you go "sure that seems reasonable, I will kill a god, sounds like a reasonable plan" to some jerkoff greedy priest unless you just saw your best enforcer BTFO by a dude possessed by a dead god and wanted that power for yourself. Eboshi's too smart and too concerned for the well being of her people to agree to Jiro's terms, unless she was carried away by wounding Naga and Moro and genuinely threatened by Ashitaka.
TLDR: Eboshi and Jiro are the closest the film has to villians

>why the fuck would you go "sure that seems reasonable, I will kill a god, sounds like a reasonable plan"
A few reasons: Eboshi lightly accuses Jigo in an earlier scene of making a deal with Lord Asano. Later on, Jigo makes an idle threat if Eboshi doesn't kill the forest god. She wouldn't be able to handle Asano's samurai and Jigo's men. It all amounts in her favor to killing the god for Jigo, as he said he would help her destroy Asano when they get back from killing the forest god.

Lady Eboshi is 10/10 waifu material, so I couldn't care less if shes a monster.
what a shit thread
Did you miss the part where all her men died anyway and all of Jiro's lived (until the gods got involved)? She has no way of knowing the forest god would kill Jiro and his men, she fucked up.
The whole point of the movie was that there needed to be a balance between nature's right to exist and man's right to exist. "He was telling us both to live." I feel like this movie was basically a better version of the "Nausicaa" movie. That movie was WAY preacher about how humans are evil and nature is pure and correct. And at the end, Eboshi realized that she fucked up by trying to kill the god of life. THE GOD OF LIFE. AND SHE TRIED TO KILL IT. How do you even fuck up that badly?
I can't not see Minnie Driver, and it ruins everything.
You're right, there's not enough hollywoodshilling or thinly veiled pedobait and altogether too much film discussion.
>most of the best war generals lead from the front
IIRC, there's a scene that flashbacks to the battle with the boars and it show Eboshi looking cold as fuck while her own men are blown up.
This, but the thing is she didn't want to kill the forest god out of malevolence. It was just progress.
A great deal of Eboshi's men survive.
>She has no way of knowing the forest god would kill Jiro and his men, she fucked up.
The alternative is fighting Jigo's riflemen and Lord Asano's samurai.
>has no way of knowing the forest god would kill Jiro and his men
Shit, you're only trying to kill a god, whats the worst that could happen?
These
I know that Socialism has become a word that thrown around Willy-nilly by the left and the right in bot positive and negative lights, but holy shit does the phrase "socialist plutocracy" betray how little you know about either of those things.
...
The word he meant was "egalitarian", right? I'm not up on all the political lingo
Other than dying horribly he did literally nothing wrong.
>caring about savages' well-being
>any year
...
he brutally butchered innocent animals and was pretty arrogant. he deserved his fate.
yeah but she also thought Ashitaka was on her side as well just because he "understood," What she was doing. I mean because of the curse Ashitaka was basically a demon while the curse killed him slowly.
I actually really liked season 7
Season 6 was pretty lacking
...
Lady Eboshi was the best Miyazaki girl.
You are smart.
I really don't know, egalitarian would have been a better word, but socialism at its root means workers owning the means of production, while plutocracy means rule by the monied elite, making the two terms practically oxymoronic when placed alongside each other. The American trend has been to follow a heuristic of " the more a government does stuff the more socialister it gets" making the Roman Empire true vanguard of the revolution.

Took me a couple of scenes before I realised who was playing him. Such a hammy accent.
The Nausicaa manga is about 100 times better than the movie

The humens were 100% in the right in that series. The vampires made no effort to co-exist so they deserved to get reckt.

That was a satisfying death.

Got to say, Metal Mussolini was pretty hot.
The autism levels on Javert were off the charts.
