It's true, we are talking about the average soldier not what the nation committed by the way, nor ordered massacres, just what the average crime a soldier would commit. The German soldiers themselves weren't nearly as uncivilized.

Not actually true in the movie. If you think the enemies losing against the protagonists, physically or intellectually, in a war film makes it propaganda then there are no war films ever made which aren't propaganda.
