holy shit. I only recently bought this album, despite listening for it for years
Thanks for the chile and france things, I'm going through some of that stuff right now
Only hipsters hate Nuclear Blast
no problem, if anyone has more requests, I can post some stuff, but I don't promise miracles.
I still try to find some interesting band from China, or India, but so far, nothing really worth checking surfaced, except one or two bands.
youtube.com
Man can you believe that Earache once was a proper label with actual bands and shit
there's nothing to hate here, NB is simply a label filled with turds
only death is real
how about belgium?
Back then they were releasing stuff that other labels were afraid of. When you check their catalogue, it's really full of edgy stuff.
They even had problem with police due to the Painkiller album (among others)
what did Kai mean by this?
I perceive them to be a label that's so good at what they're doing that they take all the hard work (with all the blood sweat and tears, etc) away from the band so some of them become lazy. Also they signed up some seriously shit bands over the years, always trying to follow any trend that arises. All in all there's loads of good shit released by NB however so who cares.
No problem
Aborted (well, they did start in the 90s)
Agathocles (their early stuff had a lot of DM, and they formed on the ashes of the band Hellsaw)
Ancient Rites (they were this Blackened DM, before they moved into folk / viking stuff)
Anesthesy
Blasphereion
Caducity
Catafalque
Chemical Breath (obviously)
Exoto
In-Quest
Insanity Reigns Supreme
Legal Butchery
Renaissance
The Darkening
That's what I got so far, if we talk about the classic era. Next post - albums
goodposts
Finland would be neet, they have one of the finest OSDM scene and I'm sure there's a lot of underground classics I'm not aware of
Blasphereion - Rest in Peace
youtube.com
The albums have some riffs taken straight from Sarcófago's Inri
Agathocles - Theatric Symbolisation of Life
youtube.com
Their most DM album. For some reason, I always found Agx's music to be slightly depressing.
Chemical Breath - Fatal Exposure
youtube.com
Renaissance - The Death of Art
youtube.com
This one is weird because it's actually two different albums joined together. The first one is mostly some prog / avant-garde (?) with little DM elements, while the second part is basically their EP, which was DM.
Exoto - Carnival of Souls
youtube.com
Anesthesy - Exaltation of the Eclipse
youtube.com
Ancient Rites - The Diabolic Serenades
youtube.com
both Caducity albums
youtube.com
youtube.com
Insanity Reigns Supreme
youtube.com
Their name comes from the Prophecy of Doom's song, and it's funny, because I.R.S. actually called one of their albums Prophecy of Doom
The Darkening - Awake
youtube.com
God bless youtubers for posting full albums. But apparently, Belgian scene is more known than French for some reason.
Veterans / connoisseurs probably know all of these albums already, so there isn't much surprise here.
Best finnish DM semi obscure things are
Mordicus - Dances from Left
Convulse - World without god
Finland had quality over quantity.
Here are my charts, in regards to bands in my database
1.USA - 381 bands (and it will grow)
2.Sweden - 168 bands
3.Netherlands - 100 bands
4.Brazil, Poland, Germany - 89 bands
7.Finland - 69 bands
8.Canada - 67 bands (I'm still considering if I should add Infernal Majesty and early Sacrifice to my list, and then the would tie with Finland)
9.Spain - 61 bands
10.U.K. - 55 bands
Instead of posting all of the Finnish bands I have I'd rather post this RYM lists, as they are very extensive in regards to both description and bands.
It is a little cop-out, but on the other hand, I wouldn't write anything that wasn't covered there

what kind of metal is this
nu
Post 'em
Okay, holy shit... Supuration is fuckin rad. Can't believe I've never heard of them before.
They have a shitload of albums, and they are legendary in France
> i call people glamvesties on the internet
Let's pretend we're twelve hours in the future, it's very easy
>this is not metal at all
>fuck off with your nu male shit
>go back to Sup Forums
post crust punk
>and they are legendary in France
I talk to a lot of frenchfags and I watch a lot of french metal reviewers and I never heard of them
most frenchies don't know their scene well, wich is a shame
also you forgot sortilège
youtube.com
some god-tier heavy/power
What kind of metal is this? Gothic?
It is metal, just not of high quality
They also never heard of Loudblast, which was something of their own Sepultura in regards to breaking-out. However, I really recommend reading up about Supuration, as they were a huge influence for DM bands in France.
I know Sortilege, but I was posting DM.
I do feel that Heavy/Power and Thrash are more well-known genres in France.
Massacra and Crusher are awesome too. Why isn't there more on Gothic? They're crazy.
does anyone have this chart without the pooey paint scribblings?
They had an album, compilation, and they had notoriety, but they were pretty obscure. Most of the "well-known" bands from France, ended up on demo-era (like Mestema).
Those who managed to record an album, were usually late, and when you look closer, they were releasing stuff in the lat 90s, when metal was going through a huge transition in regards to style
does anybody know any guitar solos where 2 or more guitars play slight variation of the same melody? I'm not talking about harmonies
is it ok to be wearing makeup and hairspray if you have good riffs?
+JP, Slayer, Helloween
>nu-metal
>metal
make up yes, hairspray no
Dark Tranquility - The Gallery
Posted Woebegone Obscured in the last thread. Let's get some more FDM/FDDM ITT
youtube.com
youtube.com
Aborted is 50/50 for me, the only consistent member is the singer (which is one of the best ones in DM) so there is some constellations that worked better than others imo.
Benighted is in the same spot, but I think they've got a more solid discography than Aborted.
What's your favorite album of all time?
Benighted got better over time for sure
evoken - antithesis of light
There's literally nothing metal about this. Rock bands have heavier drums than this.
holy terror - mind wars
sunbather
...
legitimatly artificial brain-infrared horizon
...
dying fetus-wrong one to fuck with
...
...
kys
Do you know anything good from Switzerland?
IT'S A GOD-GIVEN RIGHT
SO WE CHOSE TO DEFY YOU
when the kite string pops by swamp slipknot
Space bong - The death of Utopia
youtube.com
I'm pretty sure I know this entire album word-by-word
Of course. Hah
First of all, I cannot not mention Coroner.
They might be called Thrash Metal, but their first two albums deserve a honorary mention whatsoever.
and obviously Hellhammer / Celtic Frost.
Without them, there would be no Death Metal, and Black Metal would probably be Heavy / Power with Satanic lyrics nowadays.
With that said, here we go
Aeternum
Amon
Babylon Sad
(early) Caustic
Damnation Call
Damnatory
Deflagration
Excidium
Exhortation
Exulceration
Infected
Messiah
Misery
Moribund
Parusie
Sadness
Samael (their second and third album, though)
Sickening Gore
Silent Death
Soulless (albeit they are a little TOO obscure)
Supremacy
Meshuggah - Catch ThirtyThree
I know Coroner, our boy Tom G Warrior, Samael, and Messiah, and that's about it.
Most of the interesting stuff from Swiss was in the 80s. And Switzerland had more interesting EPs, rather than LPs
Infected - Dark Century
youtube.com
Exulceration - Infernal Disgust
youtube.com
Babylon Sad - Kyrie
youtube.com
Something of a supergroup, when you look at who was playing there.
Misery - Mystic
youtube.com
Damnatory
youtube.com
Sadness
this band is my fucking favorite
Opal Vault is a great song
youtube.com
youtube.com
certainly check their other albums
Supremacy - Human's Destiny
youtube.com
Deflagration - Suicide or Sacrifice
youtube.com
Sickening Gore - Destructive Reality
youtube.com
Napalm Death - Scum or Ulver - Bergtatt
and more stuff
Amon - Shemhamforash
youtube.com
(the cover art is very overused in metal community)
Exhortation - The Last Trial
youtube.com
inspired by Atheist / later Pestilence
Parusie
youtube.com
Silent Death - Stone Cold
youtube.com
they had drummer from Malevolent Creation (very underrated band)
Damnation Call
youtube.com
Excidium - Innocent River
youtube.com
Moribund - Oracular Eyes
youtube.com
Aeternum - Dreamy Silken Moontew
youtube.com
TAROT WOMAAAAAAAN
This is my dad's favorite band and album
Infected has a badass rhythm section and production.
Damnatory is really cool, Sadness is so weird lol, I dig it though. Silent Death is good too.
...
Post beards.
that album is legitimately legitimate
what the fuck is with that high pitched cunt of a tone in Dio's Holy Diver? It's like, the exact tone of my tinnitus.
...
Spain would b niec, there were many punk bands but apart from some shitty thrash revival bands, shitty metalcore bands and everything with JM Dopico I don't know much
I love black metal, but most of the shit you faggots post is just poverty, sub-par clones of the classic bands. There are some gems and nice moments in a lot of those releases, but overall the super-under ground stuff is just retarded. The riffs aren't even good in any kind of abstract way. You are just some basement dweller who is doing some serious mental-gymnastics to justify most of that shit.
*metal gymnastics
Spanish scene is rich, and along with Poland, should be put among Swedish and Finnish scenes, considering how many bands and how different stylistically the bands were, alas, they are obscure as fuck.
If we talk about Spanish DM (which is my specialty), we have to talk about Dave Rotten and Avulsed, Drowned / Repulse Records, and Anaconda records.
oops
basic starter pack
literally everything by them
metal-archives.com
ARNAUT PAVLE YOU BITCH
So can anybody tell me some good bands on the magical threshold between (hardcore) punk and extreme metal that are bound to blow my mind?
I'm talking shit like this here:
youtube.com
I was just listening to that album and had the exact same thought. I only noticed it on Caught in the Middle, I don't think other songs have it.
its in all the songs, it's just a lot louder in Caught in the Middle for some reason.
GISM
mutilated veterans
other bands
Absorbed, Aggressor (pioneers), Antropomorfia, Aposento, Canker (!), Christ Denied, Corrupt Soul, Desecrate, Doomsday, Dormanth, Eroded, Exhume, Expiration, Feretrum, Fermento, Frustradiccion, Golgotha, Greenfly, Haemorrhage, Hellbound, Human Waste, Impure, Levial, Living Pain, Mortal Mutilation, Mysthical, Neuntoter, Nopresion, Offense, Orlac, Pulmons Negres, Reincarnation, Rottest Slag, Spontaneous Combustion, Trauma, Uncreation, Unnatural
Two of my all time favorite bands are from Spain:
>Wormed
youtube.com
>Hybrid
youtube.com
albums
Rottest Slag - Let Be Us Corrupt
youtube.com
Necrophiliac - Chaopula - Citadel of Mirrors
youtube.com
Unbounded Terror - Nest of Affliction
youtube.com
Feretrum - From Far Beyond
youtube.com
Wormed is pretty legendary at this point, albeit they play very brutal. And I mean, VERY brutal
Hybrid is an unknown for me
Isn't that the genre "Crossover"?
The mix between metal and hardcore?
...
...
EEEEEEEEEEEEEXIIIIIIT LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT
Human Waste - So Is Death
youtube.com
Toxic Death - Es Lo Que Hay
youtube.com
Canker - Physical
youtube.com
This album is a mandatory listen
Levial - Possession of Soul
youtube.com
Elbereth
youtube.com
They later changed into melancholic metal with female vocals
youtube.com
Dormanth - Valley of Dreams
youtube.com
Absorbed
youtube.com
Christ Denied - ... Got What He Deserved
youtube.com
claustrophobic and brutal
Fermento
youtube.com
The guy is Spanish Danzig, albeit not because of vocal, but because of attitude and being a macho alpha male
Reincarnation - Void
youtube.com
yeah, but I'm kinda tired from all the bands from DRI to newthrash like Municipal Waste. That's what "crossover" usually refers to. Pic Related. More extreme stuff is what I'm looking for. The band in the video example I posted dropped the thrash and pumped up the rawness for example. GISM and Mutilated Veterans fit the bill to, thanks to
Offense - Aside
youtube.com
Haemorrhage - Emetic Cult
youtube.com
Antropomorfia
youtube.com
Corrupt Soul - Psychophony
youtube.com
Lugubrious
youtube.com
Desecrate
youtube.com
Inertial Mass
youtube.com
and it's only a simple sample of what was going on in Spain in the 90s
...
Mah niggah.
>Hybrid
Yeah, they're pretty underground.
Can't remember how I found them but I'm friend with the first singer on Last.fm so maybe through there.
