Beatles
Fugazi
Burzum
Nirvana
Mac Demarco

Start with what are generally agreed to be the Top Three. They are:
The Beatles
The Rolling Stones
The Who

The earliest stuff you can find the more you'll appreciate what they did and who their influencers were.

>Thinking of getting into rock
>fucking 2017

>writing off genres
gotta try 'em all

not writing off, it's just that one wonders who hasn't listened at least to dadrock classics by 2017? op must be very young

Its 2017, not 1987

Well...Mind telling us what type of genre you like? Rock isn't just one thing, there are different shades of rock, with other subgenres in between.

You like happy go lucky? Go with Beatles, Elvis.

You like fast, angsty? Go Sex Pistols, Clash

You like stylish, cocky songs? Bon Jovi, Aerosmith

You like depressing, slower songs/fast songs? Go Nirvana, SoundGarden, Alice in Chains.

Pretentious garbage.

Here, OP, start with this

The word "rock" means little to nothing nowadays. It is not a general, it is a category with a lot of songs not resembling each other in the slightest way, it englobes different time signatures, different tempos, different instruments and different lyrical content... There is no such thing as "getting into rock"

This is dad rock, it isn't impressive by any means and nobody cares about this shit since the nineties. Completely obsolete

>this thread

fucking hilarious yet you all treat jazz which is twice and big, varied and old as a genre with only a few albums worth listening to and never note subgenres.

rocktards confirmed autistic as fuck

so? they're still historically important albums

ac/dc is great

...

I didn't say acdc was bad, I said it was obsolete and there is no reason to listen to it nowadays, ac/dc isn't even the best in it's own genre, If you want bluesy hard rock stuff, Zeppelin or Black Sabbath are way more interesting bands.
