I saw it today and I think it is one of the best animated movies I have seen. I loved it. The story, the characters, the visuals. Great movie; Highly recommend that you see it in theaters while you can.
Visuals were great. Seamless combination of stop-motion and CG.

I don't look at reddit but judging by the crossposter cancer I've seen that's seeped onto this board regarding the film, it certainly seems as though types that I consider to be "reddit" are being enabled by this film and they never miss the opportunity to tell you to see it while it's still in cinemas. Developing an emotional attachment to a movie is reddit. Identifying as a "fan" of a movie is reddit.
To be honest I consider adults talking about children movies as though they are legitimate cinema pretty "reddit" in the first place.

In the run up to seeing Kubo in theaters I have seen every Laika movie this week, And I wasn't bothered in the slightest by the gay character in Paranorman. If you can watch such a great movie and be bothered with that you are a very sour person.
The first act was awesome. The rest wasn't as good.
The faggot pandering in Paranorman was indeed awful but there was none of that in Kubo.

I really loved the "making of" scenes that were put into the credits. It was fascinating to see all their hard work gradually put into motion
honestly we can't afford to see most of the new movies as soon as they come out, but Kubo was a treat to ourselves and i want to see it on the big screen again before it leaves

I found it kinda funny that the ending was essentially the same as the ending to Harry Potter. It even had Ralph Fiennes as the bad guy.
I kinda agree. The movie itself isn't nearly as good as the visuals are. The visuals make the movie worth a watch alone.
The stop-motion was fucking amazing. At times it was hard to even detect it. It was only really noticeable at the ending confrontation.
Story was a little weak but the sheer talent that went into it propels it over that by so much.
A shame it did so poorly at the box office.
I was so excited to see it after endlessly hearing of people saying that. You either have low standards or are lying. Don't fall for this meme, people. It's a totally cookie cutter kids adventure formula with a shit third act and awful villains. The visuals are beautiful but everything else does it a disservice. My favorite character was Beetle, funny enough because he reminds me of the Tick

Thought it was fantastic, although a bit rushed. Amazing animation, at some point I had to remind myself it's stop motion. Fantastic, really.
I wonder, was the screen really dark at the beginning of the film for you guys? Something was definitely wrong in those first few minutes (might be on purpose not to scare the children)
