Let's have an architecture thread

post them desu desu senpai

>Building collapses onto older building next to it

...

Degenerate.

Now here is a proper building.

>Notice the cheeki spire.

...

...

The new ROM is so fucking ugly why do I have to look at that piece of shit every time I go downtown?
And UofT wants to fuck up Robarts with some shitty new addition god damnit

nigga that looks like when I havent updated my graphics card drivers

;^)

you degenerate foreigners
Time for some true americana

...

...

Used to live down the street from this monstrosity.

...

looks cool to live / work in though

Germany has the best cathedrals.

>gypsy architecture

...

That is pretty representative of our current cultural state- the profane, vulgar and hideous modern overtaking the historical, sacred, and cultural.

It's a library, hence why it kind of looks like a stack of books.

This is the cathedral down the road from me

How could you live in that and not feel like a total asshole?

Nice

I don't think that other building looks bad, it's just hilariously out of place. I've seen much better examples of churches or an equivalent being successfully meshed with modern architecture, though.

...

Am I the only person put off by churches that look like office buildings? and are all "modern" looking on the inside?

...

...

>we wuz vikingz and shiet

>dat dark asphalt
HNNNG

Mosque of Malaysia

...

Hell no. Those things are hideous and soulless.

Robarts is already ugly as fuck. A giant brutalist peacock, wow.

...

I bet sitting and reading in the corner of that top box is cool as fuck

Germania manument in Rüdesheim/Bingen.

...

It always makes me sad how Art Deco didn't stick around, it just looks so grand and aestheticly pleasing

Nazi elephant

That's why I find it so confusing. If I was shopping for a religion I'd want something that displayed a sense of tradition and history to it. Something BEYOND the fickle tastes of the modern era.

...

A fucking glitch

I've seen but never entered those; I'm Catholic and that stuff tends to belong to some other denomination. My Church is more Gothic in style.

Except all you'd have to look at is a building under construction, and a Starbucks and American Apparel.

nothing really compares with italian architecture imo

Yeah i really dont get it either. Churches dont have to be big and grand though. Small and more humble ones like pic are also nice imo

Lovely Durham Cathedral

It's like they were trying to convert a normal building into Alienware headquarters and gave up halfway

Brutalism YES

US Dept. of Health and Human Services HQ, Washington DC

looks like a building from spore

...

Of course. Something like that you can see the heritage behind and appreciate generation upon generation of people coming together there.

It doesn't have carpets, overhead lighting and an AV system built in to it.

That's cause Italy (let's say kind of) kickstarted the "architecture"

>see vitruvius

...

Why don'tcha frig off there bud? I'm not especially fond of it myself, but the fact that everyone in this city is going out of their way to destroy noteworthy buildings really triggers me.

Dumb ghettoposter

Philadelphia City Hall

Sometimes it isn't about what it looks like on the outside, but what they have done with the inside.

...

ooo i like that one

What do you call this type of architecture?

Soviet?

equality

Brutalist.

...

I can up that.

If this doesn't prove that Catholics are pagans I don't know what does

little boxes

Time for some Art Novaeu. In a way, I feel it is the quintessential European style, whereas Art Deco is the quintessential American style

>What kind of building do you want?

Let's do this.

Looks like a maligent tumor

>thou shall not construct pillars to reach the skies

heretic monument but still cool to look at.

50 years from now this will be desert again.

I have mixed feelings about this one.
