Not Hamilton. Holy shit was that horrible. Most overrated musical ever?
grease is probably the best all around musical kino.
worse things I could do and beauty school dropout are songs that probably 1/3 of the population could half ass sing.
no one knows shit from les mis. and rocky rocky horror is shit and even the fans know it.
Just watched Sweeny Todd and was pretty good. HBC was cute.
sweenu todd is absolute garbage. none of the songs are good. and it is try hard emo bullshit. even the original stage production is shit.
gershwin is rolling in his grave at your ignorance.
the who musical about elephant boy was better than sweeny fucking todd.
the sound of music and mary poppins
Pick of Destiny
I never really considered mary poppins a musical. but I suppose pretty much all old disney is.
yea, mary poppins might be even more influential than grease. literally everyone knows "a spoon full of sugar"
You're joking, right?
OP, you want to watch the Astaire-Rogers musicals, which are legitimately great kino. "Swing Time," "Top Hat," and "Shall We Dance" are the best, but they are all great. Astaire insisted on long, wide takes, so as not to 'cheat' the audience on the dance numbers. And the music is extraordinary.
The Gene Kelley musicals ("Singin' in the Rain" and "American in Paris" are the big ones) are good as well, but not quite as good as the Astaire pictures.
no I understand your take, I guess I just never thought of all those kid movies as musicals.
singing in the rain is super over rated though. it is really a shit movie with no story. most fred astaire is too. they might be kino in the literal sense, but as movies they sucked.
grease, on the other hand, had a horrible ending but everything else was 10/10.
supercalifragalistic too. i dont really consider the animated disney films to be musicals
oh and i almost forgot about chitty chitty bang bang
Hair is nice
original Music Man is pretty kino
Popeye
>Grease > Astaire-Rogers films

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
I don't get the hype over this. Is it just because Hip Hop Musicals are so rare? Seems kind of cheesy.
I saw top hat stage show in London.
It was great fun time
Cabaret
The Book of Mormon
have you actually seen hamilton?
it is all niggers. alexander hamilton is a nigger.
it makes sense though. he was by far the most jewish founding father.
it is only popular because the sjws are "so proud" that they cast only niggers. like that isn't racist as fuck.
Rocky Horror is a big favorite of mine, I wouldn't call it kino but it's still a timeless classic.
>none of the songs are good
Eat shit. 'I feel you Joanna' is pure kino
astaire could dance. I will give him that. but none of his movies were all that good as movies.
grease is good as a movie.
Wicked is actually pretty decent, but it doesn't have a film adaptation so.....
I GOT CHILS
it really isn't though. do you ever hum it? I don't.
but I probably sing "worse things I could do" monthly.
Is Dirty Dancing a musical?
>none of his movies were all that good as movies.
That's ridiculous, user. Just because you don't like (very slightly) farcical romantic comedies as a genre doesn't mean that they can't be "good as movies."
but that is the scene that ruins the movie and everyone agrees.
grease is a 10/10 until that scene.
Well Im straight, youre clearly a faggot. Thats why you must not like a song about wanting a woman
it is a song about being a beta.
worse things is a song about being conflicted with complex emotions
sweeny todd is really a beta faggot rape fantasy.
Why don't they release more Broadway musicals to DVD?
I really like Repo; the Genetic Opera, though it's not actually a good film. I just love it for some reason.

because brodway tickets are 70 bucks a pop. then you stay in a 300 dollar hotel room and eat 20 dollar sandwiches.
Prime time Amanda Bynes tbqh
How about "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" - you can get Robert Morse in a Mad-Men-esque musical with some catchy numbers and great set design.
>yfw no negro day :(
based Harry Potter
I saw this live and it was fantastic
Phantom of the Paradise
Do Americans really break into group harmonies and choreographed dance numbers in the middle of high school classes?
Only in wealthy areas with well funded schools
In more impoverished areas they break out into hip hop routines
thank me later
Manly choices coming through
Fiddler on the Roof for baiting Pol
A soft spot for this one
Best part of Les Miserables tbqh
Honourable mention...
It's enjoyable, but really shitty as a musical.

She's so much better than Anne Hathaway
well they are professional singers
BLUES BROTHERS
Sure, all you said is true. Also as history is garbage, Hamilton was crook not a hero.
But the musical sounds good, is smart and very enjoyable.
I understand despising its SJWewiness, but is good art, sorry.
Samantha Barks was one of the very few people in the movie who could sing and had a theatrical background. If Hathaway either wasn't in the movie or didn't do as good a job (let's face it, she did pretty well, better than most AAA actors), Barks probably would've had a good chance of getting the Oscar.
I'm not a fan of Anne Hathaway in general, she did pretty good though. But Sam Barks was the one that really impressed me. Made me listen to the broadway version with her in it also.
What's better, the original Hairspray or the remake?
homo
gaaaaay
All That Jazz is BEST musicalkino.
Prove me wrong.
Protip: You can't.
I'm pretty sure it's just her and Colm Wilkinson who had previously acted in a Les Misérables theatrical production who had roles in the movie, I may be wrong. Wilkinson is absolutely based as Jean Valjean in the original production, it was great to see him in the movie.
Sam will always be the best Eponine to me now. Seeing her both on stage and in the movie cemented it.
Team Éponine for life, brah.
Musicals aren't gay anymore, even Chads like them now thanks to Hamilton.

She was incredible on stage. Did her best in the film, she was the only one really trying to sing instead of the weird talk-sing thing the rest of the cast was doing.
That's not Chicago
...
Literally Dad Rock: The Movie.
Fuck off faggot, the score is as tuneless as the libretto is prosaic.
Dad rock is goat rock
fiddler on the roof is TRADITION
>tfw the 1997 movie cut Éponine's entire storyline
Barks is musicalfu
also Hamilton, Assassins, Book Of Mormon, and Protomen Act 2 all have fucking amazing music,

Live recordings. Once you've seen a few (that aren't Fox/NBC shit), you won't be able to take musical movies seriously.
Begin with the 25th Anniversary of The Phantom of the Opera with Sierra Boggess, Hadley Fraser and Ramin Karimloo.
en.wikipedia.org
There's also 2 Les Mis live recordings (10th anniversary is great, 25th is good).
Oklahoma (with Huge Actman)
Company (with Tit Cow)
Carousel
and Miss Saigon, of coursh. Lea Salonga is great.
Will the madness of those damnable Cosette-fags never cease?!
Ayyy where Act 3 at tho
