Sup Forums im arguing with a feminist about how mens sports earn more and that its not sexist that more money and coverage is given to men in sports over womens and she said "then how come the womens american soccer team earns less than the american mens while doing better and pulling more views".
why is this Sup Forums? the women should be compensated more shouldnt they?
Yeah, they should. Looks like your entire argument has collapsed. Perhaps you should rethink your life and the decisions that have brought you to your clearly erroneous worldview.
Michael Morgan
my entire argument hasn't collasped. it still holds true. overall mens sports generate more than womens. im just wondering why one womens team makes less than one mens team while doing better
Connor Martinez
no it hasnt. men still generate more views and revenue than women do in sports. im just wondering why one womens team does better than a mens and earns less.
David Lewis
Workers are paid by views brought in. Ask her if she watches women's soccer. If she doesn't she's part of the problem. >pulling more views Women's soccer is less viewed.
Cameron Johnson
no its not. the american womens soccer team pulls more views and generates more revenue than the american men's soccer team.
Caleb Gomez
Also Women get a base salary added while men are paid solely by views. Clearly men are underprivileged gg
Adrian Walker
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soccer_in_the_United_States#FIFA_World_Cup_on_TV It looks like the women's world cup got 26.7 million views The men's one got 25.2 for a smaller US vs portugal game back in 2014. I'm not seeing an American viewership for the men's one in 2015, which makes it hard to compare accurately.
Gabriel Wood
we arent talking about the whole fucking sport. im comparing the womens american team to the mens team. The womens ameircan team has generated more income than the men have. Why arent they making the same.
Ian Taylor
just tell her that you think it's mysoginistic that women are segregated in sports and that sports should be open to all genders
Evan Phillips
Draw Larger Crowd
Get More Money
Simple.
Levi Gomez
except the womens americna soccer team draws a bigger crowd and generates more revenue than the mens american soccer team but get paid less.
Tyler Robinson
because mens sports is more popular, people move at a faster pace, are more aggressive, passionate, and sporty in general. fun stuff= money how is this hard to understand
David King
>The womens ameircan team has generated more income than the men have
Please show me where you got this information from
Sebastian Turner
But we kinda are talking about the whole sport. There is way more money in men's soccer than women's soccer. Hopefully in the future the women will be making more than the men (because in America people don't give a shit about soccer, it's for fags and women), but right now tons of money is pumped into men's soccer in America because the rest of the world sees America as the biggest untapped market. There is just not a worldwide market for women's soccer, so few foreign investors are interested in trying to make the market grow. It's not about the current state but about derivatives and shit. Good luck explaining economics to a woman though.
the womens american team brought in about 5 million more in revenue than the mens american team did.
Gavin Butler
cause that '''''''report''''''' was taken from a year when the women had the world cup and the US mens team did not compete in a major tournament
/thread
Isaiah Ortiz
but im not talking about the whole sport. im trying to see why the women aren't compensated more than the men when they do a better job and make more.
again if the womens american soccer team is generating more ad revenue and pulling more viewers than the mens american soccer team why arent they paid more than the men?
Zachary Adams
reminder that this is what happens when women into sports
this one team is unfair. these women deserve equal compensation.
literally every other example, the women will bring in less views. explain & admit this. your argument is fine
Anthony Rivera
so in this case it is sexism? i realize this isnt the norm.
Benjamin Morales
Read through the financial reports; first and foremost the only differentiated revenue projections by each team was a pro forma statement for 2017. Women are bringing in more because of a domestic tournament and the Olympics which the US mens team didn't qualify for.
The generated revenue is only from ticket sales, this literally has nothing to do with the majority of the money in the sport and how players are paid, think of endorsements, television viewership etc which are all conditional on personnel payment.
It's clear you don't understand financial statements, nor how players generate revenue, so please refrain from forming blanketed opinions from them.
Luke Ward
the women brought more money in but their cba ensured they would be paid a lesser amount than the men. its almost like a legal contract is binding, weird
Brody Hill
It's about merchandising and ad revenue you fucking mook. Women's soccer doesn't sell the same amount that men's soccer does. The men's team could be eliminated in the first round of a tournament and still sell more than the women would for winning the entire thing. Therefore they get paid less as champions than the men do as chumps.
The revenue is also taken from the entire league, not a single team. The rest of the world doesn't have a hair up its ass about women's sports like we do. They watch the men because they're better. If more people watch the men's World Cup, buy their jerseys and sell out their arenas, there's a bigger pot to go around to the teams.
How do I economics?
Jaxon Robinson
>pulling more views except they don't.
Robert Phillips
sorry, youre not an idiot
yeah, without further elucidation or proof of something g else, it probably is sexist, but accidentally. the pay plan has probably reflected the differences between the sexes fairly, thats fine, but as their team started to draw more views, nobody looked over & said, 'hey, we should reevaluate your plan'. thats arguably sexist, although i could also believe it being normal corporate behavior.
mostly though women's teams simply dont pull views
except thats not fucking true you mongoloid. for the whole year women brought in more than the men did. IM ONLY COMPARING THESE TWO TEAMS NO THE WHOLE FUCKING SPORT.
Are you too retarded to understand that this is why they made more money?
Aiden Long
Calm down Tyrone, I understand that you have a genetic predisposition working against you when it comes to intelligence so I'll try to use smaller words this time.
Men have more sponsors. Gibs more money.
Women have not more sponsors. Gibs less money.
Here, have a quote while I'm at it. "Fox grabbed an estimated $17 million in ads from corporate sponsors of the elite women's matches—a tiny fraction compared to the $529 million ESPN pocketed in sponsorship revenue from last year's tournament in Brazil."
Thomas Ward
The men's team has been generating revenue and views far longer and has a much higher average than the women's team. Just because the women's team had more views in the last major event doesn't mean they just get a pay raise. Objectively the men's teams have a higher average viewership and generate more revenue. This is not rocket science. If they want to get paid the same as men, have them play against men's teams and perform just as the men's team does
