I don't think pedophiles should automatically be locked up simply for having the attraction, but they should definitely not be allowed to act on them. If they do, that's when they should be locked up. However, if they've done nothing wrong and are controlling themselves, there's no reason to lock them up. It's not something they chose to feel. Yes, I absolutely abhor child abusers; it's one of the worst offenses imo. However, I don't believe in punishing someone simply for having feelings as long as they're controlled. We don't jail kleptomaniacs until they steal. Granted, stealing and child molestation are two massively different offenses. There's no real answer to that. A 13 year old might be very level-headed and mature while a 22 year old could be a complete ditz and consent without understanding. We have age of consent laws based upon our best judgement. Because there's no universal answer as to what age someone is ready for sex, that's why it's different in so many places. Here in NY, it's 17, which I think is reasonable, but I'd rather they made it 18 unless the partner was within a year or 2 of that age.
