My case is probably in no way similar but this happened to me after I came home from deployment earlier this year.
I thought it was a real runny shit till I wiped and seen it was all blood. Turned out to be half dollar sized polyps and a dime sized tumor. Doctor's said if it wouldn't have been taken care of when it was, it would've developed into colon cancer in 4yrs.
Now I have colitis and it's a bitch to deal with. My gastro doctor keeps saying it'll turn to Crohn's.

If it's dark blood, it came from high up in the GI tract. You need to get that looked at asap. If it's bright red blood, it's likely a hemorrhoid, but you may consider getting a colonoscopy to be safe.
