Why is 9mm ammo considered a pussy bullet or frowned upon? What's wrong with it?
Why is 9mm ammo considered a pussy bullet or frowned upon? What's wrong with it?
Boomers and size-fags.
There's nothing wrong with 9mm. Modern hollowpoint design allows for similar penetration and wound channels for 9mm and .45.
If you absolutely need to punch a whole through somebody and the guy behind him, then just go 10mm and be done with it.
Plus you can fit nearly double the number of 9mm rounds compared to .45 in the same size firearm, so if you live in a free state (no gay magazine limits), then the only reason you have to own a .45 is to round out your collection.
Bad rep. NATO 9mm FMJ is ass compared to designer ammo
Glock 45 fits 13 rounds glock 9 fits 16 i believe. Hollow points are a waste of time imo. Only use them if you are worried about your neighbor or if your using a rifle. There is no solid evidence that a hollow round traveling slower than 2000 fps does more "damage" than a solid ball projectile. Air pockets and wound channels are a myth because human flesh is very malleable and flexible. The fbi switched back to 9 because penetration is what kills people. Not bullets or fragments that get stuck inside of people.
All NATO ball sucks chode. That's just the rule.
Muricans have no idea what 9mm is.
Name it .35433070866141732283464566929134 and they will love it
They need you fags in /k/. Go now.
Wow, okay. Keep your ignorant opinions off the internet before some gullible noob gets himself killed.
Its good for accuracy thats why cops use it. But it doesn't have a lot of stopping power like a .45
Lol I'm telling the truth. I'm a huge gun nut. Wouldn't spread the word if it wasn't true. I own 9. 40. And 45.
9mm was weak shit for the majority of it's life and has only been comparable to better calibers for 25% of it's life if that.
BUT MUH BABY BOOHMURS
100+ years of other bullets working great vs 25ish years of 9mm working great. In another 25 years no one will care.
9mm ar 15
In Russia the used the smaller 9x18 with makarov and the law enforcments had complaints that a thick coat could stop that bullet
Anyone who thinks it is a "pussy bullet" has obviously never been shot by one. They are the same kind of faggots who think that they have to have a fucking cannon in order to be a real man. The same kind of faggots who have a gun strapped to their body at all times because they are paranoid that a gang of wild niggers are about to break in at any moment.
The standard 9mm isn't packing such a punch because it is designed to be used in urban areas.
Low penetration power for soft targets.
You don't want to accidentally shoot your neighbor through two walls when dealing with a burglar.
Because combloc pistols suck. They are better known for their rifles because of this. I gotta few of their shitty makarovs and tokarevs. Hate em. I love my mosin and yugo sks more so than my ar type rifles tho.
It's a matter of Energy. You can have a big, heavy, slow slug or a smaller, faster slug. Faster slugs may over penatrate. Slow, heavy slugs transfer more Energy into the target, doing more damage, and causing more shock and trauma.
There is no replacement for displacement
It just has low kinetic energy due to low mass compared to other bullets. It doesn't penetrate a target well and often will deflect off bone because of that. It's possible to shoot somebody in the head with a 9mm and not kill them.
>thinks carrying a firearm is paranoia
>calling other people faggots
Just because they don't let you take your firearm in to the gay bar doesnt mean everyone else who carries is a faggot, faggot.
No, you're not telling "the truth." You're spouting off incoherent nonsense because you neglected to do any research before diving into this.
Ohhhhh found one!!!!
It's also possible to blow off the top of someone's skull with a 12g slug and not kill them. What's your point?
>What's wrong with it?
In short, the penetration is terrible. Pre-1950, 9mm was okay for military purposes. After that, flak jackets/light body armor became very common and those both successfully stop 9mm in most 99% of scenarios. In fact the only "widely" available auto handgun round that'll shoot through an armored vest is 10mm. You could also get .45 auto +P's but they are not widely available.
You're right. What are all these law enforcement agencies and national militaries doing with 9mm? They should just re-adopt .45 Colt and call it good.
You can't stop a big tex, from loving his big guns
...
Your reading comprehension is low.
We have two measurements over here faggot.
Imperial for our dicks. And metrics for making sandbags out of you minorities and europoors.
It still goes thru drywall no problem. Has to hit a stud to stop.
Do you hoard food and gold too?
You guys don't even realize that pic is OP. You're talking to a bullet that's depressed about being smaller than the other bullets.
It's not. At least not with experienced shooters. The 9mm is viewed as a perfectly acceptable and highly accurate cartridge, assuming you don't use NATO ball ammo. I shoot in competitive 3-Gun (where 9mm is the standard due to accuracy/recoil trade off), as well as a history in LE, and the 9mm is an excellent caliber. The issue is that a lot of the testing was historically done using the NATO ammunition, which doesn't have the penetration or expansion characteristics of modern self-defense rounds. Plus, if you have a pistol that can handle 9mm+P rounds, it exceeds every expansion and penetration requirement out there to qualify as a "one-shot man stopper"
Because boomers and CoD military experts. 9x19 is better than both 9x18 and 11.43 for military purposes.
It's not frowned on it's a standard for most places.. People just have unrealistic expectations about what weapons and dying people do.
Surprised it took someone this long to mention +p
This. I carry a subcompact in .40 but my full size pistol is 10mm. Put a compensator on it it's tons of fun
Nothing. It kills plenty of people around the world yearly. Morons think that a few hundredths of an inch make any sort of difference when they spout off about .45ACP.
>stopping power
Spotted the fudd
The only debate is round count.
You wanna carry more of the one or you wanna carry less of a larger bullet.
Both will equally fucking hurt someone.
One just allows you to carry more and is easier to shoot.
Any other argument is fuddlore and 100% retarded
>25 years of working great
>introduced in 1902
>is older than .45acp
You're a fucking moron.
9mm will penetrate a wood floor and drywall unless it hits a stud. Speaking from experience because I shot the floor on accident once with 9mm hollow. Big hole on the lower floor ceiling.
There is a reason everyone has to specify "MODERN" 9mm is comparable to .45, idiot.
... stopping power ... okay
policeone.com
With personal experience, I think 9mm is a great practice round. I had to defend myself in dallas, i was shot at and returned fire I had a 9mm. I hit him 5 times in the chest and lower stomach before he fell. After that I personally upgraded to a 44. Id rather it only need to be 2-3.
Long story short i hit 1 lung, stomach, upper part of intestines and brushed right past the center of his spine with my shots and he didnt drop till he finally lost enough blood.
Friendly reminder that if you need more than 8 rounds to stop an attack you either need more time at the range or you've brought the wrong gun.
his point user is that you'd much prefer a stronger round to it if needed for self protection. The chances of them surviving from a 9mm is much higher than other rounds.
All of my 9mm are hollow points sooooo im gucci gucci
We're you using fmj? My critical duty 9mm hollow points leave an exit hole bigger than a coffee cup
This makes me happy I carry an XDS-40
I also use the critical duty hollow points in my .40 shit is cash fam
it was decently close so they made holes about the size of my thumb running through them. (hole a little bigger than a quarter) It hurt him sure, but his adrenaline kept him from dropping until he passed out from no air/loss of blood
It's only known as a "pussy bullet" online. The feds went back to 9mm for a reason, user.
Lol dude what......
the reason being cost.
Its good enough for practice and most average situations. So its saves money. Not to mention if you shoot a bad guy with it he will live long enough to either be in prison, or possibly be interrogated.
Interesting, I might go back to .45 for the heavier slower bullet. I liked having 18 rounds a mag because I carry for my job
killing someone isnt always neccesary for self defense cleetus.
even if a shot to the head doesnt kill a burgalor. im pretty sure getting shot in the head would leave someone incapacitated.
Are you retarded?
its still not a bad round, but i definitely enjoy having something bigger than a 9mm for self defense. I personally see a benefit to having harder hitting rounds, since im fairly accurate with my pistol at 10-20-30ft. If youre not comfortable then id say definitely more rounds so you have a better chance of atleast grazing them
if they dont go down quick, it means you have a higher chance of dying.
no, are you?
When there are times of ammo shortage, 9mm is the most cost effective for practice rounds, and least chance of causing extra unnecessary damage. Its why they switched, not cause its elite, or the best. Its the most cost effective for their needs.
yeah but a hoodlum whos just been shot on the head is gonna get knocked out. and initially there is no difference between your chances against an unconcious person, and a dead one
I'm accurate at 30 yards with a 9, I liked having more bullets because the area I worked in had groups of people working together
user I'm not him but cops are trained to shoot to kill, not shoot to wound.
>stopping power
Oh, gee, I didn't realize cops were hunting fucking moose, now.
>implying most will get a headshot
Quit being retarded for just a minute, Just one minute,
The chances of hitting the head are slim to none unless youre within 5ft and the dumbass is leaning his head towards you asking to be put down.
Most shots will either hit their legs(shooting while still pulling the gun up) Missing entirely, or hitting the chest/stomach, Bigger rounds means if you hit them in the chest or legs they go down. A 9mm can get stuck in the leg on the bones, but that wouldnt knock them down.,
This. And that is how everyone should view it as well. If you can handle the recoil and are fairly accurate and can afford the pricier rounds a larger caliber is right for you. If you want less recoil/are worried about accuracy and want more rounds or if ammo prices/availability are a big concern go for something smaller like a 9mm or even a .22 they can be lethal too it all depends on your situation and what you're looking for
a .22 is deadlier than a 9mm when it hits in the stomach. No exit wound, internal bleeding from it bouncing around.
gay af fam
because it works best at close combat range.
and because faggots literally believe in those movies where some suit-dressed dude one-handed shoots 35 bullets from his Desert Eagle at close range without hitting or stopping and recharging
It's the same fucking thing for both fucking rounds dumbass.
Powder and bullet offerings have gotten better for both, there is no fucking difference in performance today with modern powders and good bullets.
None.
You're still fucking retarded.
Lol are idiots still believing the ".22 bouncing around" myth?
Go back to bed grandpa
>.22 deadlier than 9mm
>ever
lels
real men use 9mm Parabellum
And those reasons are cost and ammo capacity
Yeah no. Old wives tale about it bouncing around. If you hit vitals with anything, even the anemic .25acp, it has a chance of killing you.
If this ain't some fuckin fudlore...
More likely to be a nofunz teenager who hangs out on /k/ and does airshit than a greyfag who probably shoots
It is high pressure compared to 45acp and hollow point ammunition is more expensive.
If you only have FMJ then 45 wins all around. 45 hollow points expand more reliably and penetrate deeper , more consistently... All at a much lower chamber pressure.
9mm fags are always on suicide watch.
With that said I would still carry anything that works if I need it. 9mm FMJ works. Carrying an extra mag is not that hard to do though and with stoppages coming from magazines it can be considered much more forward thinking.
9mm FMJ is not what you want for barrier penetration.
Have you actually ever shot anything other than paper?
I shoot coyotes with a .22. No exit wound, great pelts, and usually after going through the side it rips up intestines through lungs. Generally takes about 3-10 seconds for it to drop but ive never had to use 2 .22 on a coyote. I switched from a 9mm carbine to a .22 and never had more success in hunting.
>no wound channel
>FBI switched back to 9mm for any other reason than cost
>just wowsa
You know that's just 9mm luger right?
Yeah, there's no way powder could possibly react differently in different amounts and casing sizes when it was different in every way.
Idiot.
No exit wound =/= bouncing around.
And shot placement is key. You being able to control a .22 better doesn't mean it's inherently more deadly than a 9mm.
Actually, if you do some research, I believe it was excessive wear from .40 plus some agents not being able to handle the recoil and so not getting as many second shots on target (not exclusively the female agents, but they were mentioned)
when it cant go back through the skin, physics tells you it will continue to move until its out of energy. It may not "bounce" like a lot of people think, but it does move and cause more damage than merely going all the way through.
The .40 wear myth comes from using older guns made for 9mm that were retrofited to fit .40
We're a long way from 1992 when most of this shit happened.
With a properly build gun and recoil system, a .40 has only slightly more recoil than a 9mm, and for that you get a heavier bullet moving at roughly the same velocity which makes for better barrier penetration and a bigger wound cavity.
And a 9mm hollow point will do that with much more energy transfer than a .22
I love my SW 9mm, fucking pin point accurate. Holds 22+1 chambered, and Id rather have it in a short ranged shootout over my 45.
Ask the hillbilly to throw on a vest and take one to the chest, then tell you whats wrong with it. He will be crying like a lil bitch
Ask the dumb hillbilly
nothing wrong with it. you just need better aim than certain cartridges.
YFW you realize OP is really just using bullets as a metaphor for his micro cock.
/thread
Shoot urself with smaller bullets to build immunity to bigger bullets
hi BroFag!!
I'm the troll that usually posts an AmmoBait thread and then goes away.
I see you did the same.
oops - it's been two hours you just escaped.
I sometimes carry my pocket 22 pistol and have the stingers or high velocity hallow points. Those little bullets zoom.
Better than nothing. At least I can cover my own retreat.
Modern 9mm does not differ from a .40. You can lay down more rounds more accurately than you could with a .40 or .45.
That fact that people call it a pussy round is because the .45 round is well known within both law enforcement and military. There's a reason a majority of police departments and even the army are switching over to 9mm.
Number one choice for the mafia hitmen
>high velocity .22
Not out of a pistol you don't
Those numbers on the box are from a 24" barrel.
You have a loud BB gun
That has nothing do do with the point. Sure, a properly placed .22 will get the job done, but it is not deadlier than a 9mm
okay then rambo, show me someone who could get a bullet lodged in their leg and keep running.
and if your excuse is adrenaline then the effect would be the same for someone who had a bullet go through their leg, and someone with a bullet lodged in their leg.
hitting someone in the chest would either kill them or break rips. and probably puncture a lung.
Nothing wrong with 9mm, different bullets for different purposes. i like target shooting and mil surp rifles so these are more my style.
