Is the answer 1 or 9 you dumb faggots

Is the answer 1 or 9 you dumb faggots

1 you dipshit

Its nine

9

It's 9... Really don't see a way to get 1...

6/(2x3)
But final answer is 9

it's 1 if you're mentally retarded

What is order of operations?

Exactly. Parentheses, then left to right with multiplication and division holding equal weights you moron. It's 9.

6/2(1+2)
6/2*3
3*3
9
pedmas nigga

add the 1 and 2 then divide the with a 2 both equations equal 3 so you multiply.

Pemdas

>does multiplication after devision

All of you are dumb fucks lol....I barely got thru high school maths and this was easy....

>Not knowing multiply/divide are on the same level, with the same urgency.

Wow, your teachers failed you, kid.

>not getting dubs

user dont make me kek

now sit down

2
--- != 2(1+2)
(1+2)

BIMDAS

6÷2(1+2)=?

Brackets

6÷2(3) =?

Multiply

6÷6 = ?

Divide

6÷6 = 1

Idk how you can't follow the picture when I wrote all the steps right there..

Were you dropped on your head?

Multiplication and division also subtraction and addition are done from left to right.

That line also applies brackets you dum-dum.

it's not 6/(2x3) it's 6/2(3)

google says its 9

its nine

It's one.

Check my pic and you will understand why you are wrong.. All of you fools are so confident and close minded with your wrong answers it's ironic... That's the reason millennials are so dumb

> can't spell division

6/2*(1+2)=9
6/[2*(1+2)]=1

Brackets first
Then Indices
Then multiplication]
Then Division
Then Addition
Then Subtraction.

Dont try argue this. This is not rocket science it is basic maths

6÷2[1+2}
6÷3×3
3×3
9
>easy

I see now that you divided 3 by 3 where you should have multiplied it. I do not see why one would do that, but whatever.

At which you fail.

Im glad I have humbled you

I know, that's why I said the final answer is 9
Was just explaining the guy how retards come up with 1 as the answer

Lol ok you think what you want

This guy is right

It depends on whether the six is being divided by 2(1+2) as a whole or only by 2.

Op you lieing pice of shit the answer is 22

Just like this guy.

You can read it like this. (I made extra steps)

Anyone with any form of algebra experience knows this. You can't argue, you're just wrong!

It's 6 you niggers

You should be saying thank you.. Dont forget to respect your elders next time

Let's get rid of the parentheses
6 / 2 * 1 + 2 =
3 * 1 + 2 =
3 + 2 = 5

Did you mean to reply to him?

I try to own up to my mistakes, even if it's a taiwanese sock knitting board about caucasian birch trees.

No.

>mathfag
6÷2(1+2) =x | +2
6÷2(3) =x | ÷2
3(3) =x | *3
9 =x
The PEMDAS don't exist at this task.

guys its 1 you work out sums in this order
Brackets
Indices
Division
Multiplication
Addition
Subtraction

so
6/2(1+2)
6/2(3)
6/6
1

So what's the major malfunction here?

Guhs im from reddit and like rick and morty so my iq is byond understanding for you simpltons the answer is 8

Okay, I'm really curious
This kind of threads have been in Sup Forums for such a long time.
Are most of the people failing on purpose so that the rest bait or do they (you) really don't understand the order of operations?
Please, enlighten me

>inb4, the answer is fucking 9

It's from these niners thinking they know everything... Buncha cunts if you ask me...

Look up the question on any reddit posts and the highest comment is 1. At least they are smart enough to do basic math

Actually, division is first. BEDMAS.

A LINE IMPLIES BRACKETS YOU TWAT.
You turned
6/2(2+1) to 6/[2(2+1)]

How about you niners stop making up these stupid names to try and save face when you found out the answer is really 1.

You do you man

It's BE(DM)(AS).
division and multiplication have the same priority, and so do addition and subtraction. I can't believe I'm teaching this to an adult.

that actually makes alot of sense...

>You will immediately cease and not continue to access the site if you are under the age of 18
1.
/thread

Then get out.

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

It's BEDMAS
division before multiplication, and addition before subtraction. I can't believe I'm teaching this to an adult.

Please neck yourself.

>no u lol
Fuck off, kid.

Google it tard.

>Can't into basic maths
>Calls other people kids
the absolute state of this guy

multiplication symbolized as an x while division is a gay lame line. so why the fuck would division be BEFORE x (the cool looking symbol) and not after it?

This is correct. That's why. You're screwing up orders.

/thread

Are you actually pretending or just as dumb as brick?

What's with the extra set of brackets, hmmm?

>cheating to win
something a kid would do

you added another fucking parenthesis
try harder

It's implied that (1+2) is in denominator

In what world is:

6/2(1+2) = 6/(2(1+2))?

Retard.

And yet even wolfram alpha doesn't recognise that implication, you're the only one that does.

>implied that there are brackets
>implied
>fucking math
nice attempt, bait better next time

Literally so fucking dumb. Go take some orders waiter, if you lose that job you're fukt

I checked with a texas calculator and the answer is 9, folks.

Ahh, the standard order of operations thread again.

huh.

Shameful fucking cheating idiot loser.

BIDMAS.
Brackets
Indeses
Division
Multiplication
Addition
Subtraction

Its not that fucking hard

6/2(1+2)=
6/2(3)=
3(3)=
9

1
Always apply the MDAS rule.

here we fuckin go again

PEMDAS
6÷2(1+2)

P - Parentheses
6÷2×3

E - Exponents
(none)

M - Multiplication
6÷6

The answer is 1

/thread

>inb4 can't /thread your own post
it's needed in this gay ass cancer thread

oh look another PEMDAS thread

Its division before multiplication you dumb plebs

IRL only virgin boys uses the "÷" operator

the chad master race uses the correct form (aka the fraction line) in order to distinguish the two different forms because:

6÷2(1+2) can either mean :
>6/(2(1+2)) = 1
or
>6/2(1+2) = 9

stop beeing virgin and learn to write shits correctly

/thread

Yo dipshits the answer can be both and it completely depends on the ordering you chose
Pedmas : 1
Bodmas : 9

>The PEMDAS don't exist at this task
Why not?

(6/1) / (2(1+2)/1)

(6/1) x (1/(2(1+2)))

(6/1) x (1/6)

= 1

>ordering you chose
Math is not a gender

lets do the reverse and set the 2 as a variable

for people who get 9:

6:x(1+2)=9
6:x(3)=9
6:3x=9
6=9*3x
6=27x
x=6/27

for people who get 1:

6:x(1+2)=1
6:x(3)=1
6:3x=1
6=3x
2=x

Doing the order of operations wrong won't lead you to a correct answer.

How can there be so many opinions on one basic problem?

Because people have not studied math signs and order of operation.

Convention : in infixed notation (binary operators in between operands), the convention is that priority is times > div > plus

6/2*(1+2), since * has priority, you can see this expression as a * b where a=6/2 and b=(1+2)

therefore expanding everything the result is 3*3 = 9.

the tree of this expression is

. . (times)
. . ./...\
..(div).(plus)
../...\...../...\
.6...2...1....2

note: the reason why this convention exists is because without it, you would need to put many parenthesis in order to write non-ambiguous expressions (otherwise some expressions could mean different things depending on the order of the operations)

this problem does not exist for prefixed and postfixed notations of operators. there is no need for parenthesis in these systems which make it better.

your equation is not equal to the one in op's, it's purposely vague.

ps: hence the lack of need for such conventions in postfix/prefix notations.

1

the guy you're replying to is right, multi and divis are on the same level and if you see both, it goes left to right.

>purposely vague
