Can somebody explain to me what's wrong with Egypt? I mean, I know there's a shitload things wrong with the country especially since the beginning of the Arab Spring, but I'm trying to investigate a specific subject and don't make a mistake, I'm not trying to bash on random Egyptians. So that's the story in the nutshell that prompted me to ask:
>there's this mini-celeb in Poland Dawid O, part-time actor, model, part time mma fighter
>he goes on holidays to Egypt, over 6 months ago to do some windsurfing and whatnot
>alone
>stays in Hurghada, in Bella Vista hotel as a part of an organized trip by travel agency
>few days after arrival there's a shooting at the main plaza in the hotel, all terrified guests remain in their rooms
>Dawid leaves his room and sees 3-4 bloodied bodies on the ground floor, bullet holes in the walls, police everywhere
>hotel manager and travel agents relocate almost all the guests to other hotels and try to sweep everything under the carpet, police is acting super shady, hotel staff is telling everyone to keep quiet about what happened
>Dawid as a typical Pole refuses to change the accomodation and stays in Bella Vista as pretty much a single guest cause he doesn't like the alternative hotel
>he goes on the internet and makes a big fuss about the whole thing, creates a "bad smell" on hotel's tripadvisor and facebook page
>day or two after in the middle of the night people are banging on his door telling him to "open or else"
>next day in the hotel lobby hotel manager and his own travel agent try to threaten him about shit he posts online
>they have him arrested for defamation (yeah...)
>he gets thrown into a cell with some Egyptians that try to rape him until he beats up one of them and gets relocated to a solitary confinement
>finally Dawid's manager calls from Poland and tells police if they won't let him go it will be international incident yada yada
>they let him go and tell him still on the police station he's to leave Egypt immediately

and that's how basically the story ends, except for some shady fellows following him until the flight back to Poland, I wouldn't even remember about it wasn't it for the fact that some Polish girl just died in Hurghada in very similar, equally mysterious circumstances, she wasn't as lucky apparently

I don't know whats happening exactly in Egypt, but its economic situation is very dire and tourism is way lower than its used to be so there MIGHT[emphasis on this word] some government supported polices against anything that would harm the tourism sector

Literally nobody knows. The Egyptian media apparently didn't cover it at all and it was all swept under the rug. The only accounts of it are Dawid's which was featured in Polish media and of some Ukrainian girl that was a part of the group that agreed to relocation and she did confirm his account of it.
That would explain police reaction then, but entire story is very mysterious. That celeb guy insisted that manager tried to have him killed that night when he refused to open the door.
