It is quite easy to "force" an erection. Fear doesn't really help. It can even "help" with the erection, as the brain has difficulty distinguishing between neurological arousal states. I don't think evolution cares much about rape or not. Cat sex is almost exclusively gang rape, for example, where one male cat after another will rape the female cat (and cat dicks are absolutely horrifying). Usually the female is so damaged afterwards she cannot conceive for years.
It's the same for primates, if you rape someone what otherwise would decline your sexual approaches, you're increasing your chances of an offspring.
