If the mother is Rhesus negative and the father is Rhesus positive a Rhesus positive fetus is at risk of developing anemia because the mother might develop antibodies against the fetus' red blood cells and can destroy them. Nowadays this isn't really a problem because it's routinely checked and the mothers can be given injections accordingly.
