You have to remember a few things, firstly that obviously estonians but also livonians were finno-ugric, not all tribes that were "baltic" actually spoke a baltic language. Secondly, the baltics NEVER lived in the moscow area, before the slavs it was inhabited by finno-ugric people. And lastly, Finno-ugrics were perhaps the largest linguistic group but only if you just look at square miles. Finland for example only had a handful of tribes and less than 100,000 people for a very very long time, so even though Finno-ugric was spoken from Northern Sweden all the way to the Urals and in the south bordering the Kazars, most of that area was just empty space where nobody lived.

well duh no shit, the whole of northeastern europe was never that densely populated in premodern times. but if the baltic-speaking and slavic-speaking areas continued to be as large as it were (same with the uralic speaking one), their population today would have been much different. simple shit

the rough Danzig-Riga-Moscow-Kursk area is often believed to have been Baltic-speaking but these prehistoric arguments admittedly are tentative to a degree
