I've been both to Korea and Japan and I found the koreans were way more friendly and welcoming than japanese. I travelled through Korea and it happened several times that koreans spontaneously would come to me very warmly to ask if I needed help or guidance, whereas in Japan some chump littely turned his back on me and ignored me as was asking for information (very politely). I had never gotten such a hostile response ever in any country...
