Why has Sup Forums forsaken the indie scene?

Why has Sup Forums forsaken the indie scene?

Went out of fashion and is now heavily derided as a negative stereotype of white people which makes it even less cool. Even Pitchfork writes mostly about rap now.

what indie scene?

if there was an actual scene of legit indie rock today then i'm sure a lot of people would be all over that. but the only "indie" that's being made these days is commercialized shit that record companies label as indie to sell more copies.

hi will

Because indie bands are quickly running out of ideas. Animal Collective, Arcade Fire, The Antlers, all indie rock staples that have recently turned to complete shit.

Indie is not dead. In fact its stronger than ever.

that's not a scene. that's a bunch of disparate artists. and most of them are bad.

parquet courts is probably the best recent indie rock band

HOLY SHIT THESE ARE THE DUMBEST NAMES FOR BANDS

Parquet courts is probably the best indie band right now

Most of these bands are on sister labels of major record labels.

If you wanted to make your point valid you should've posted some bandcamp bands at least.

bands like cherry glazerr are a dime a dozen, there are a million of them and none of them are good

Indie Rock. It's just not what it used to be. Like 2001-2009 Hip Hop (Remember of course there was still Doom, Em, The dying breath of Outkast, Common, Kanye, Jay Z and so on) , it was this decade that it's really resurged. So it's not dead, just wounded. And maybe Indie Rock just needs its own Kendrick Lamar

Sup Forumsgaze will save indie

yuck

Because of poseurs ruining the genre with derivative trash like your pic, OP.

The indie scene has changed. It just doesn't match the image you have in your head.

fuck off will

*yawns*

Save a handful of groups this list is proves nothing. However, there are plenty of interesting indie artists, thanks to the internet. If you say that there are none, you are just too lazy to actually take the time to listen and find them.

I think that is why "indie" is dead as a scene. The current music listeners are too fucking lazy to explore underground music. It's easier to go on Pitchfork and RYM and listen to the top rated albums and forget most of the rest. They also aren't going to shows.
