Don't particularly give a shite about him. Chile is cool though.
neutral
He was a shitcunt.
DUDE HELICOPTERS LMAO
I know nothing about him so no opinion
>nice memes
>he was very well advised by liberal economists, chile is now a dynamic economy thanks to him
>t. chicagoboi
Parents genuinely love him and his policies, I only like him because he's an ardent anti-communist
Meme for edgy kids who think "LOL HELICOPTER " is still funny. Maybe the first 10 times
All other SA countries economies are bullshit
Chilean isn't
Capitalism works even with military junta in charge for decade or two
helicopter memes are funny but he did run chile's economy into the ground during his rule and that's what really matters
>>he was very well advised by liberal economists, chile is now a dynamic economy thanks to him
No
This
He fixed the socialist mess and inflation
I wish Stroessner was more like him. (He killed more commies tho)
American puppet
Chile's economy only got good once he was out. Corrupt as fuck. Helicopter meme got ruined fast.
he was kind of a dick to be honest
He was shit, but Allende was pretty stupid, I support the nationalization of resources though
Nice try.
Chartwise he wasn't too bad (not too sure about how trustworthy the last one is).
never heard of him
>go for a helicopter ride
>they don't actually let me jump
was I memed Sup Forums? do I get my money back?
Not the shittiest dictator.
Some fun memes.
Idolized by brain-dead Sup Forumstards, which is annoying.
When leftists do a better job than you in the market then you know you're shit
If you look at the gradient of the chart you will see that his policies were "effective" compared to the rest of the of Latin America, with the exception of his two first years when he stabilized the inflation and 1982 when there was a debt crisis. Besides these two downturns, Chile had a high GDP growth. Also, don't forget that the democratic government following Pinochet continued with much of the same economic policies as the Pinochet dictatorship, and with much success
Helicopter memes are funny, but I don't necessarily think he did anything good for Chile
XDDDDDDD demn ded gomunnist
I like the fact that Sup Forumsfags love him, even if he was a neoliberal globalist and jew enabler. Really makes one ponder.
The gradient looks nice because he was at half of latin america's average, and even at his best it was still lower than the average.
He was incompetent. Chile is what it is now thanks to the 1990's governments actually knowing how the market works
The nationalization process started before Allende with a social democrat.
...
>the economy recovers
The biggest fault within Allende's government was using DL520 to expropiate without paying indemnizations, which lead to the retention of Chile's copper by foreign agents
Really retarded movement
Would have Allende done better?
>comparing allende to chavez
Why are you like this?
It's like we compare Hitler's government to Pinochet's just because they're both on the right spectrum
ahahahahaHAHAHHHHHAHAHAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
commie in denial
Nice arguments
You aren't seing the big picture here
If Allende actually finished his presidency then the entirey of Chile would know how socialism wasn't a good idea
Nowadays leftism holds a martyr-like status here because USA couldn't keep its fucking paws to itself
He most likely saved Chile from an Argentinian invasion in 1978, which Allende could not have resisted by himself.
Peope talk abut the bad and good stuff he did as arguments. But in an alternate timeline in which there was no coup, so many things could have happened that one can't really assess all the positive and negative.
A military regime is indeed a better defense against exterior forces. With conflicts like the Beagle and the Cold War, Chile could simply not exist today at all if there had been no coup.
>fixes economy, policies will take years to take effect
>left takes the power, pinochet's economic policies began to bloom
>lol the left fixed the economy lel xD
it's not hard to understand, even if you don't like pinochet, the left didn't do shit, they just harvested the results of what it was done on Pinochet's it's a fact
see
A saviour
Anyone willing to put communist scum six feet below the slime they crawled from is good enough for a fandom.
...
Allende was literally funded by the Soviet Union. It would have been another Cuba
>Nowadays leftism holds a martyr-like status here because USA couldn't keep its fucking paws to itself
IDK man, I somehow don't think commies winning the civil war would have been an improvement over Franco, especially if you read about some of the shit they wanted to do with Spain.
>LE ALLENDE WAS VOTED BY THE PEOPLE
>HE DIND DU NOFFIN XD
did you know that he """won""" with 36% of the votes, and his rival got 35 ish
it was like his third attempt, everytime he got a shitty amount of votes, and yet he went full cuba
Venezuela was always a mess because of how it used it's oil before Chavez was even in at all though. Venezuela always had an oil (and oil money spending), weak economic diversification and money problem alongside populism across the political spectrum.
His point is sort of valid that perhaps if the communists took over, they'd discourage anyone in South America from ever trying it again (there are few greater McCarthyites in the world than Cuban diaspora).
Having said that...
>because USA couldn't keep its fucking paws to itself
>couldn't keep its fucking paws to itself
Who the fuck says "keep your paws to yourself" unless you're talking to a kindergardener or a dog?
This is correct. He won because of the utterly retarded Chilean electoral system at that time.
That's the perpetual conundrum. Hard leftists love making themselves look like weak victims of some type, often in spite of the fact they were instigators or behave just as badly or worse. You can see it with the romantic view of your Civil war, where communists and anarchists of today jerk each other off to the idea of smashing Fascism whereas back then they couldn't fucking stop killing each other for Stalin's tablescraps.
English isn't his first language.
Of course Spanish really isn't either since that stuff they speak in Chile would make Cervantes turn in his grave.
Me because I think americans have the average intelligence of a bear
Dirty fascist
kostisvelonis.blogspot.com
Oh god, you're right and you just reminded me of this hilarious news blurb.
>80 fucking years later and Spanish ANTIFAs still can't get along with each other
It's not a position you'd want your country in, but it's preferable to full-scale communism.
Oh and by the way I'm not really fond of the left myself, but praising Pinochet as the savior of Chile is just retarded
The only people that benefited from him were the army, the businessmen and our cops
The economic miracle only happened once he abandoned state planning and hired pointhead Harvard professors to help him get things going again. But at least he did step down from power voluntarily and didn't try to make a fight for it.
>"If you don't like me, tell me, and I'll allow a plebiscite"
>People vote against him
>He gets out no problem
Doesn't look like an evil dictatorship to me.
>killing thousands
>exiling hundreds of thousands
Uh, yeah. The same applies to Spain. We had economic miracle starting in the late 1950s when Franco liberalized the economy and encouraged foreign investment. The early years of state planning in the '40s were harsh. Even so, a lot of that had as much or more to do with international isolation and the devastation of the civil war, the latter being a problem that did not affect Chile.
Many exhiled refugees where actually economic migrants in disguise. You can't trick me here because I know quite a few still living in Europe.
>tfw much maligned rightwing autocrats are better at passing power to more reasonable and stabilizing forces following their deaths/abdications/resignations than leftwing autocrats.
I honestly wonder why that is.
There were two mass migrations, the ones that were exiled and the ones that fled in 82-83 due to the crisis
Fascism
Finally, some inteligence on Sup Forums YAY!!!
The actual trut is the fact that Chile Succes thx to 2 center left goverments with neo-liberal and social policies.
>Democracia cristiana Chile (not part of the Christian Democratic international due his center-left politics and his relation with the Socialist party from chile)
>Socialist party of Chile ( Social democracy)
>When i think a person can't be more ignorant, a wild Chilean comentary appears
The result of the actual sitation of Chile it's thx to the policies of Eduardo Frei and Ricardo Lagos, pinochet can't do shit because chile was economically sanctioned in his time.
Frei and his FTA Travel arround the world (fta= Free Trade Agreement), was heavily criticized by the common people but fundamental to our succes.
Pls, before answer to my post, pls learn the diference between Politic & policy and a solid knowledge about the late 90's and early 00' goverments, thx.
pd: All hail LORD PERROCHET, DRUG LORD, THIEF, TRAITOR TO OUR MOTHERLAND.
this>>>
>hired pointhead Harvard professors
He just played for multinational mining companies
>step down from power voluntarily
All the dictatorships with US support were already finished by the 90's.
bears are intelligent animals user
Or, you know, Suharto, Chun Doo Hwan, Stroessner. They all stepped down from power voluntarily as well.
Most pinochetists online actually support him because it's counterculture here
Once the Cold War ended (and really, in the terminal phases of it), we put increased pressure on our Third World allies to democratize. A whole host of dictatorships from South Korea to Indonesia fell starting in the late 80s. Suharto was the last holdout and it took the Asian financial collapse and rioting in the streets to convince him to step down.
The Edgiest thing since Chemical weapons.
>with neo-liberal and social policies.
So Pinochet without the uniform.
