he had the best 3-album streak in rock n roll history he can do what he wants

>Is god

lmao

get a load of this guy

REM sucks dude

Chronic Town -> Murmur -> Reckoning

hell be fine

So did many artists before him, but they never went this low desu.

CT is an EP

it's an album too

An EP is a type of album

Hmmm no. Not even the best 3-album streak from 80s.

But Murmur is the best album of the decade.

yeah huh

what the fuck

Now that I have your attention, find a flaw with Murmur.

It's a masterpiece
there is none

Name our band, Sup Forums.

hes gay so its fine

Trying a little too hard to be down with the kids, eh, Mike?

I thought the OP was Fred Durst at first, which is why I agreed with this post.

>he doesn't rate Fables

it's a significant drop off from Reckoning
Chronic Town, Murmur, and Reckoning are 3 of the best albums ever imo...but Fables is just a good album. Nowhere near something like that. Automatic for the People is the one that comes close to their first 3 albums. Fables, Pageant, Document, Green, Out of Time are all good albums though. Just kind of far off from being GOAT albums.

Automatic for the People is pretty bad and Pageant is their 3rd best LP.

I love Pageant. I Believe and Fall On Me 2 of my favorite R.E.M. songs. But Pageant has tracks like What If We Give It away and Cuyahoga that are ok, but definitely not Chronic/Murmur/Reckoning level imo, whereas those 3 albums are perfect all the way through.

I think Automatic for the People is pretty good.

>losing my religion

More like Losing My Hair, amiriteguise?

Fall on Me gets old fast, the demo with the acid rain lyrics would have been a lot better to take to studio. As an album though it's their best sequenced and the only song I don't really think worth keeping is Swan Song H.
AftP has some beyond-reproach stuff like Man on the Moon and Drive but a lot of it is half-assed.

For the record half-assed stuff includes but is not limited to Sweetness Follows, Monty Got a Raw Deal, Ignoreland, and Everybody Hurts.

I think Automatic for the People actually has the more polish than their earlier stuff. It's a double-edged sword though. Part of the appeal of the earliest stuff is the amateurishness, especially Stipe's vocals. I definitely would not call Automatic half-assed at all.

I can kind of see what you mean with Ignoreland, since it comes off as somewhat 'thrown together'. I still prefer it to cuyahoga/what if we give it away

REM suck little faggot

When I hear Monty Got a Raw Deal it just sounds like they weren't sure if it would work better as an arena rock song or a sober folk ballad so they just tried to do both but it just sounds lazy and weak but that could just be me. It's still much better as an album than anything without Berry

...

Sidewinder is one of the best songs on AFTP

Shit how is he that young

It is very good. My favorites are Try Not to Breathe and Find the River

...

Top 3 R.E.M. songs go
>Laughing
>Wolves, Lower
>Driver 8

it's too impossible to pick 3...

Those are just the 3 I've been on the most recently.

Laughing and Wolves, Lower have always been two of my favorites. They're the songs every 'jangle' band wants to write.

>Shaking Through
>Superman
>Carnival of Sorts
