The Stone Roses were better musicians, songwriters and live performers(which isn't that surprising considering that, by most accounts, the Mondays were constantly obliterating themselves with drugs and didn't take touring particularly seriously) but the Mondays were genuinely a more forward-thinking idiosyncratic band, which gives them the advantage in my books.
The Stone Roses mixed The Smiths with The Beatles which is fine, but is also a fairly conservative and unremarkable bland of influences.
The Mondays were all over the place in terms of influences, which made them a lot more interesting. The Fall, Funkadelic, acid house, Gang Of Four, you could hear all these disparate sounds in what the Mondays were doing, and somehow they managed to make it all sound coherent and organic.

The Stone Roses had a better guitarist, bassist, drummer, songwriting abilities, equipment, production and style
The Mondays had Bez
The Mondays therefore win
Of course pic related is the real GOAT

O U T N O W B U Y I T N O W

imho the mondays were better and far more consistent
Bummed > Pills N' Thrills > Uncle Dysfunktional >Yes Please!

Uncle Dysfunktional is proper mad though

They also had Rowetta.

Also Shaun looks like my friends dad so the Happy Mondays are the better band.

TWISTIN MAH MELON MAN
YOURE TALKING SO HIP YOURE TWISTIN MAH MELON MAN

nobody in the UK talks about the mondays without laughing directly afterwards

You're joking right?

Or just these desu

Everyone I know remembers Happy Mondays as being "that unfortunate band" that turned their entire scene into a parody of itself

>tfw you'll never hang out with Shaun and Bez

I heard the entirety of Bummed played as background music at a house party I attended just a couple of weeks ago. You're wrong desu.

>Bummed in it's entirety
>at a house party
jesus fucking christ what are you chatting that sounds terrible

It was pretty nice actually. Even the normies seemed to enjoy it.

...

What albums do you usually put on when you're at a party (genuinely intrigued)

>playing music at a party
>not playing death grips

It's the only way to test how many patricians or plebs you have near you. Not him btw.

MAD
>FUCKIN
CHESTAH

I don't dabble in other people's music choices when I'm at their parties, I think that's rude.
I very rarely host parties myself. Like two or three times year. The preparation and the cleanups are a huge pain in the ass and at least 30% of the crowd there always, ALWAYS consists of people you've never met in your life, which tends to make me pretty anxious.
I don't play full albums either, I put together mix CDs and have them play throughout the night. Most of the shit on those CDs consists of normie-friendly 90s house and techno. Lots of remixes.
