Has Sup Forums played Civ VI?
I loved Civ V and spent hundreds of hours playing, and am interested in purchasing the digital deluxe edition of 6.
But im having my doubts on whether its worth it. I've put my csgo knife up for sale and if it sells i'll buy it, but i probably have got some time to reconsider, so i've decided to ask Sup Forums some questions to decide whether i should buy the game.
>Is it that much different to 5? worth spending £70 for the DD edition? do they add enough new content to the game for it to be worth that much money?
>the game looks beautiful from snapshots i've seen, but i love playing civ on the go and im not sure my laptop could handle it, so, does the sleekness and beauty affect how well it runs?
>if i do decide to buy it, is it worth buying the DLC?
>general rate /10?
I know i can count on Sup Forums for honest advice, so thanks in advance

I like Civ 6 but I'm not a huge Civ person. The way they are charging for shit DLCs turns me off though and I wouldn't support it.

I personally enjoyed it, but i haven't played civ 5 so i can't really compare it for you bro
i r8 8/10, lots to learn but once you do its rewarding

i totally get that, but civ is one of my favourite games, and i'm probably willing to cough up the extra £20 for all the dlc in the digital deluxe in case i wind up wanting to buy more dlc after and it ends up being more expensive

CIV 6 is garbage, civ5 is the superior one.

I play Civ IV till today with all its addons. Imho it is the best Civ out till today. I didn't like V at all. The simplistic city states and city options felt like this game had no depth at all.

I played VI aswell for a shor time and it feels different. The main difference is the worker system. Havent looked all too much into the city options, but the political and economical alignments are seem complex, but are chosen by a shitty card game system. So i cant really tell you how the quality of the game is.

Have you considered downloading it first to try?

Honestly civ 5 is what you want. Civ 6 removes some of the fun and is somewhat less polished. The only pro might be s lightly better character interaction with the leader cut scenes. 5 is more popular and sid's game

played civ VI quite a bit and can say its a fine game, but its not worth the money, but that might just be my opinion.
There are better games you can play alone and the multiplayer in this game i just terrible, its a strategy game but you play your turns at the same time, making the faster clicker the winner in battles with ranged units.

This, don't get VI

CIV 6 is like a cartoon childrens version of civilization. Its worth a play but i would not recommend buying any special editions or anything.

Also in my experience the AI is literally the worst from any Civilization game

o ok thats a pretty ass way of doing multiplayer

i thought demos are designed to make you think the game is more than it is so you end up buying it? idk seems like a logical marketing method

>the worst AI from any civ game
>he doesn't have flashbacks of Mahatma "Big bombs to bomb the blondes" Ghandi

i guess i could get it and then refund it if i don't like. whats the max hours of game time i can have before i can refund?

THIS IS NOW A R34 THREAD, POST THAT SWEET R34

2 hours on steam

I like some of the new mechanics but the diplomacy has really tanked. It was never good anyway, but it's especially bad in 6.

I got more out of 5, but then again 5 got better with the expansions, which included a lot of rebalancing, so there is hope for 6.

The dlc isn't worth what it costs, but it's good if you ignore the pricing. They basically justify charging 5USD per new civ by including some shitty scenario missions that nobody plays. The new civs that they add are good, just more diversity to who you can play and who you play against

damn thats not quite enough for civ

To be fair, I haven't played 6 since right at release, but my first impression was very meh. They added some things that were kind of nifty on the surface but really don't add anything of value when you really examine them. I think they've updated a lot since then so I really need to try it again, but I'd honestly just keep playing 5 until 6 is complete.

On an unrelated note, have you tried CK2? It's quite different from the Civ series, or anything else I've played, but in a good way. It's very dry and harder to get into but once you do, there's a fucking lot going on in that game.

i'll definitely give it a shot, had it on my list for a while but couldnt get to it

not OP, i like civ 5 but dont want 6. Is Gods n Kings DLC a good purchase?

Yeah, both Gods & Kings and Brave New World were good

If you do, be patient with it because you'll likely be lost and confused at first but it's worth learning. I actually had to watch a few tutorial vids on youtube in order to get on my feet. Paradox makes really cool games but their in-game help is notoriously shitty.

if you could pick only one which would it be

I can't even remember which was which but doesn't BNW require that you already have G&K? I could be talking out of my ass so someone else correct me if I'm wrong.

With both of these, civ 5 becomes way better than civ 6, if the base game didnt convince u enough

I paid for the deluxe edition.

1200 hours later. No regrets. Fucking great game!

>The expansion pack includes and expands on all of the mechanics of Gods & Kings.
That's from the Wikipedia page for BNW so yeah it looks like you should definitely get G&K first. It introduces religion and espionage which are fun, among other things.

Really? Do you like it better than 5? I'm not OP but I think you would be literally the first person to tell me this.

Yeah, I like it better. 6 isn't perfect but it's changed a lot of things that I feel are way better. Workers instantly constructing improvements is better than waiting multiple turns, even with only 3 charges. The social policy system in 5 sucks but 6 got it right with the policy cards and different governments. The music in both games is great but I like how 6 starts simple and as the eras pass the same songs become more complex. The tech tree progression also seems a lot more smooth and natural than 5.

The AI is still stupid and diplomacy sucks but it did in 5 initially too. Also, I actually prefer the cartoony graphics because it's easy to see everything that's going on. Civ was never about realism for me, but rather getting immersed and telling a story.

Yeah I actually do really like the social policy system. Off the top of my head, that was my favorite new thing. I don't like how the tech and policy trees have all those random fast tracking things in them though. At least I don't think I do. I didn't play enough yet to have an opinion on the new workers. Not a huge thing either way for me, I don't think. You trade one inconvenience for another. You're kinda making me want to download the patches and give it another go tbh.

If you enjoy building the hanging gardens for 15-20 turns, only to have some fag finish 2 turns before you, with NO WONDER REFUND whatsoever, then you're fine; although i recomend getting the trade and spy UI overhaul mods along with the production que mod just to improve the experience; besides that, most mods on the workshop are eather some weaboo shit or some 3d porn-looking leader mods.

>NO WONDER REFUND
This was harsh as fuck. I forgot about this. It was enough of a downer when you at least got some money back.
