What will you do when online anonymity is made illegal and it will literally be impossible to post any opinion on any website without it having your real name and a photo of you attached to it?
This WILL happen in the next five to ten years in the name of "fighting cyberbullying, racism and sexism"
Austin Jackson
It's not like making it illegal will stop it from happening, it will just make the people who do it escalate things much higher because everybody will go "holy shit this guy isn't a troll he has GovID verification!"
Ian Baker
`Who else wears a balaclava while shitposting?

I guess nobody knows cryptography exists. I guess the darknet doesn't exist. Are you talking about .com sites? Those haven't been anonymous since the early 2000s and if you think otherwise you're a dumbass
Ayden Jackson
Shitpost irl.
Brayden Davis

its that way now. you think they cant find you? ID you? or me? you must be joking niggerlips.

like our country will ever stoop to such level of softness. if that happens we will vote in whatever party makes it legal for us to take the piss out of shitcunts on the internet.
if anything it will only fuel our shitposting, we torrent the most, we know how to get around this shit, thats what we do, even in real life we know how to make ourselves better off than others, itll be hilarious, americans and europeans will be to pussy to shitpost and bully people and then you'll have the one aussie comment absolutely fucking wrecking the silly cnt who decided to post some queer photo or status.
dont doubt our bantz, we once voted in a man who held the world record for sculling a beer.

This wouldn't be tin-foil secret police though. This would be SJW self-policing, in that the instant you stray out of the mainstream, you are permanently excluded from employment, social events, education, etc.
Eli Powell
That image is horrifying. The comments are horrifying. The code on the right is horrifying. Jesus fuck plz tell me its all shopped.
Ryan Mitchell
just post your opinion you retard.
The only difference is that this time you'll have to actually flesh out your opinion so you can defend it. Once you can actually defend it, people might agree with you, and we can actually start figuring out what to do.
Anonymity is bad for society.
William Sanchez

As a comp engineering student, this picture triggers me to no end.
The code on both sides doesn't even do the same thing, and in 7 or 8 lines does so much more than the other one in fucking 20.
Not only that, but she either returns the bigger number, or randomly 5, which raises the question, whenever it returns 5, was a smaller than b, or was a equal to 5? Fuck knows.
This bitch is dumb as fuck, fuck this planet.
Lucas Howard
>The only difference is that this time you'll have to actually flesh out your opinion so you can defend it. Once you can actually defend it, people might agree with you, and we can actually start figuring out what to do. Yeah, that's definitely never happened in human history and is not going to start now.
Dylan Parker
you sound like you are either a mega-normie or you never participated of a group ever

Rejoice in finally being free from this addiction.
anonymity is degenerate, just not for the reasons liberals say.
in the end it's a win for us if people who care are forced to stop being pacified with nonstop porn and entertainment.
of course with liberals in charge it's not like the bread and circuses would end.
Michael Green

I've had a shitposting alias for years. Facebook account, Twitter account, you name it. No one has caught on so far. What the fuck are they gonna do? Give us a ticket if our usernames don't match the name our ISP has on file? Good fucking luck.

I want to re-iterate that I don't functionally care about the NSA black boxes and the all-seeing eye because, by and large, it really does collate everything and do nothing with it. I'm not happy with it, but it's just a font of paranoia.
Ending anonymity is handing keys to the Internet lynch mob. You make a pro-Trump post, your workplace WILL be called with thousands of boycott threats until YOU are fired.
And America has the First Amendment (for now.) If you're Germany, or Canada, or Britain, or even AUSTRALIA, you're never going to get to shitpost again for the rest of your life because the Human Rights Commission WILL be at your door, handcuffs in hand, for your "anti-social behavior"
Wyatt Johnson
I used to work on big projects in a big. Annotating thoroughly was a necessity since others had to exactly know what the code does without having to read it

I will use refined algorithms that post shit instead of me so that profiling will be impossible and basically to everyone except me the account will look unpredictable.
This will allow me to act naturally with the communities I choose to share my ID with and artificially with everyone else.
And if someone will say: >muh duh this dude made racist comments I will blame my algorithm instead for having written silly stuff

It's already happening with Media sites that require a Facebook account to log in with so your name shows.
I deleted my FB account over five years ago. Fucking Cuckerberg.
Isaac Robinson
Actually it is quite the opposite.
Anonymity allows you to say things without feeling hurt by the crowd if they turn out to be unoleasant or wrong.
So the benefit is that you can actually put something on the table without fearing repercussions to your public image.
How many times do you let it go just to avoid direct conflict? How many times you keep your mouth shut just because you are outnumbered? How many times you would like to share something without putting all of your life on the line?
Ideas shouldn't be life threatening for those who express them and anonymity is the best way to ensure they aren't.
Brody Barnes
People will just stop using the internet and stop speaking freely online which will literally destroy everything about the internet that made it great.
It's just tech-illiterate old people and communists who think the world is going to subscribe to their psychotic ideas. They don't realize people will just choose to opt out instead.
It will turn the internet into Myspace or Digg.

The thing is these policies are being pushed by people with the "least controversial" views possible, who often already openly make all of their Internet comments with their own names and photos attached.
Think of somebody like Wil Wheaton or John Green, shitposting all over Reddit, and Tumblr, and Facebook, and Twitter, with his ugly mug always attached, about the importance of trans bathroom rights and how Bernie Sanders is the greatest thing to ever happen to America and about how wanting to own a gun is a sign of racism.

> it will literally be impossible to post any opinion on any website without it having your real name and a photo of you attached to it
Thats the beauty of the internet. No matter what the central powers do to censor it or ID everyone there will always be a large amount of nerds who will know how to get past it.
It will literally be impossible for them to end ALL anonymous comments on the net.
Jace Gutierrez
Interestingly, this would be used as a means to stalk, harass and bully people that they disagree with.
This is targeting us specifically.
Samuel Lewis
I am no coder here. Wtf am I looking at? It looks like she's repeating the same strings over and over again.
Does this even make sense? Someone with IT background please explain this joke to me.
Lucas Harris
Yup, that's exactly what it is. Shit like Google+
I'll just stop using the internet, I don't care. It's already become a pain in the ass to use pretty much any website or app as they all want to connect to your Facebook. Sup Forums is pretty much the only site I use anymore unless I need to find a phone number or information relating something IRL.
Christopher White

As enraging as the posts are, I can't actually relate to this. While I haven't actually had any female coworkers that were programmers in almost 5 years, I had worked with a handful of female students in college. None of them had over-commented code. The worst I could say was that a lot of times their code was less efficient than it could have been (or flat out wrong), but I think that had more to do with them being students than being women, since many male students had those issues too.
I guess I got lucky that I've only coded with women who legitimately enjoyed it and weren't doing it just because being a "nerd" is trendy now. High level languages were a mistake.
Cooper Martin
Wil Wheaton, why has your hot boypussy forsaken thee?!?
Jayden Morgan
It looks like she's in command prompt or something just typing in the same command over and over again. The other window looks like Sublime Text which is like a glorified version of Notepad and she's writing the most introductory program taught to jr. high kids.

It is easy for someone who doesn't live in a country where people risk their lives to post news (hello Russia) to say that anonymity is bad.

She's trying to navigate a folder using a terminal and failing.

she's traversing a directory tree in a shell prompt, and keeps typing cd.. rather than cd .. to go up a level
she's retarded, notice how she keeps getting messages like "zsh command not found"? the girl can't even change directories
Samuel Bennett
She is going into and out of directories (folders), just going back and forth
She's also trying to enter a directory 'code' and being told there is no such directory
I think she's trying to find the code, or something? It's a mystery
Logan White
Yeah North Korea is something to aspire to.
Jaxon Fisher
she's in an ssh session with a server and looking for a directory. cd is the command for current directory. cd .. just means go to the parent directory.
It's not that cringy, but it isn't much either.

Gibson wrote about something like this in one of the sequels to Neuromancer
A virtual community called "Walled City", named after Kowloon, which existed off the grid and outside of any state jurisdiction. It was like a huge open-source project that everyone contributed to in order to keep it anonymous and free
It's not outside the realm of possibility at all, in fact it's quite possible something like it already exists, just in secrecy
Jeremiah Flores
>zsh command not found" Hahahah now I get it. I couldn't read the pic -- too blurry on my phone.
But maybe she's not even real. Just a meme to make fun of girls.
