The genius of the show not the concepts in the show. Just like south park used paper cutouts it was genius. I tried to give this show a chance, I really did. Some of my close friends who have recommended me good things to watch in the past raved about it, and I tried to watch an episode with them one time. I consider them both well adjusted people with a reasonably similar sense of humour. We smoked and put it on, and I honestly found it terribly difficult to sit through. After what seemed like aeons the show ended and I had to endure them going over the episode scene by scene, asking me every other minute if I "got it". If I didn't they'd go into great lengths to try explain how hilarious it was and it was honestly really uncomfortable trying to explain to them that I just didn't find it amusing.

We used to smoke and hangout together a lot but I don't do it with them together anymore because of the constant Rick and Morty references they make when they're both together, as well as that they both seem to want to put it on everytime we meet. Then they rave about how "creative" and "unique" the show is and I just leave them both and go crack another beer.

What I consider possibly worse though is how ridiculously pervasive references to this show have become across the various parts of the internet I frequent. From /ck/ to youtube to facebook and plebbit, I can't seem to escape this seemingly endless circlejerk. I don't even know if the show comes out week by week, but every time I see something like "LOL PICKLE RICK LMAAOO Xxdxdxd" or some other fucking reference to the show I actually feel my blood boil.

i find rick and morty still good
like, for example, the tales from the citadel episode? Amazing and dark af. They truly did an amazing job. The citadel and the multiverse concept in R&M is, by far, my most favorite part of this serie and i would definitely watch a full serie about the citadel of rick, how it work, knowing some of its rick & morty. Definitely the best episode of this season. After that, i think Pickle rick is my favorite, i really loved the action & i think how they made him moves was pretty smart honestly. Honestly, the worst thing in R&M is Beth and Summer, and each episode second "parallel" story in general. I'm cringing when i see Summer and Beth appearing because they bring nothing to the show, Summer and Beth are annoying and boring garbage. When i talk about second parralel story in general, i'm talking about shit like the damn psychologist in Pickle Rick, it's boring and it suck, it stop the action and has bad pacing. or in the Jerry & Rick whirly dirly episode, the story centered around beth/summer was shit both because it was cringy and because i already hated those character.

It was the first thing I pulled off the top of my head because I get my humor from a lot of places, like youtube poops, lots of memes including surreal memes (yes I visit that sub get over it), and those kinds of gameplay videos that are really over-edited (this is a broad category so I'll give a couple examples)

to be fair I'm 20 so during the "golden age" of gg I was like 14. I don't watch them anymore because their new stuff just isn't funny, maybe I wouldn't really enjoy the old stuff anymore. I feel like that period had a big influence on my sense of humor though

The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons.
