I don't think it's wrong to believe in god, I just think most people go about it the wrong way.
A lot of people are scared shitless about death. That the possibility exists that there is nothing else once their lives end.
So some dude that's a good orator, says a bunch of nice stories, and people buy into it. They think if they follow the herd they'll end up in god's kingdom or something like that.
IMO, that's far from the truth. At the most basic level, god is greater than us. So how does one become closer to god? Become something greater than you already are. Human potential is a vastly huge thing. That's really the only thing that's special about us. Yet so many people overlook it, and think being a part of the pack is the best way to go.
