First for microtones are for nu males

Post Morgan Freeman pentatonic Jazz solos.

Practice.

I was thinking of getting one of these baritone ukuleles for fun, to sort of unwind with between actual guitar:

instrumentgeek.com/best-baritone-ukulele/

Thoughts on which one I should get?

Jcm900fag here. Goodnight gg lets keep it civil tonight will try to post tomorrow. Im off to sing karaoke for tonight.
Peace out

>not just having a fretless guitar period for microtones
Why does that even exist?

Are you drunk?

Not yet user. Not yet.
But drunk guitar and singposting should be a gg thing. Imagine how much more horrible it could be............And fun

>I couldn't possibly play that thing

how stupid am i for wanted a little martin?

Marketing objective:
>100% complete

Feeler gauges + sandpaper work really well to adjust the nut slots. I just significantly lowered them on my acoustic, plays so much better now.

My nuts are perfectly balanced no need for sandpaper.

Reminder that all you need to know are power chords

Are these frets randomly placed (outside of common tones) or do they follow any kind of logic to each string

i was asking legitimately

obviously i'd get a solid top one, but the body is laminate. and i don't want to hear any shit about ed sheeran, hate that guy.

the main reason i'd want it is because my shoulder gets fucked up from bigger guitars. and it's a reputable manufacturer with reasonable price.

>tfw master race floyd rose

Because intonating properly with your fingers on a fretless guitar, especially when playing chords, would be a huge pain and very, very difficult.

And it was a serious answer. Those type of guitars are literally memes. They are the worst of any world and it being a martin youre going to overpay for something that will fall drastically short of what the brand is known for.

Why not get a fretless guitar instead of that microtonal bullshit?

No, they're placed in intervals that produce notes outside the 12-tone system, traditional Arab/Turkish and Indian music "needs" these notes but they're usually played on fretless instruments. That guitar is an attempt to make this music playable on a classical guitar. Also, the frets are movable and removable.

thanks for saving me ~350 bucks.

This faggot has microtonal fretboard and shit. It's kind of interesting but in the end this stuff is completely useless.

Get a full size yamaha

I was thinking about this one but then I heard a demo.

That's pretty cool but unfortunately it's quite useless without 24 frets.

Just stop.

Guys I want to learn to play the electric guitar. Should I buy used or new?

Yes.

>restring classical for the first time in 4 years

it sounds absolutely beautiful. the fretboard and strings were absolutely revolting and filthy

roast me

What?

Sopa de macaco

used. get a used made in mexico fender and go for it

you can probably get one for like $250

reminder that posters like are ruining the fucking general and should get the fuck out

i live in america and the strings costs $20

>reminder that posters like (You) # are ruining the fucking general and should get the fuck out
Yes

i've played those at a guitar shop before, sound is fucking garbage.

little martin doesn't seem that bad, i mean professionals use it. i'm wavering in my resolve to not buy one.
hurts my shoulder, i already have several full size acoustics that i enjoy (other than fucking up my shoulder)

I just looked at the underside of my strings on my steel string. There is green stuff there. I'm not sure if it's mold or "just" gunk. Pretty disgusting.

user i realized that i need to change my strings every like 2 months realistically.

i'm not willing to put in the cost or effort into that so i will suffer with disgusting gunk-covered strings.

rip my sound

why are my fingers so sweaty and gross

I use daddario phosphor bronze strings and they still sound fine. Even though they're kinda gunked up.

Ok. And? Get a fucking job.

I mean maybe steel strings are different than classical strings (I only own a classical and an electric), but if you've owned them for more then a year you need to change them

t. degenerate

you're confusing laziness with poverty

>overpay
It's $350... That's fair considering the build quality and materials, especially for Martin.

>but if you've owned them for more then a year you need to change them
I changed them less than a month ago.

I change my strings every 2 weeks

No the other one

UMMA

What the fuck determined where he put those frets?

would you guys buy a used les paul (orville by gibson) with professional neck repair from a damaged headstock?
>pic related
>inb4 le paul maymays

I'm thinking of upgrading my electric guitar. Are Chapman guitars any good?

mathematics

Is a used fender be better than a new squier?

DELICIA

I've heard a lot of people say the Classic Vibe series is better than the standard MIM stratocasters.

So you get the right timbre of the sound, classical guitar strings played fretted directly to a flat surface sound horrible.

I need to get a travel guitar, thinking of going for the GS Mini... Tried it out and you get a real decent sound from it. Anyone here got one/know anything about them?

Yeah. It's got a great sound for the size. Stays in tune. And it's a Taylor. Only downside is the price, but honestly with that you get what you pay for

i've heard that too and it's true

dude i was 2 seconds away from buying one off amazon rn

researched it a bit, i'd buy the hell out of a mahogany top one.
the price isn't that bad for what it is.

can you get jag style dives with a tremolo pedal?

Sigma make the same guitar but cheaper. Pretty much Martins equivalent of squier guitars

Sigma tm-12

can't find in the USA

Little Martin vs. Baby Taylor (mahogany, to make more full sounding?)

They also do Gibson replicss, this SJ200 copy is fucking beautiful.

If it was significantly discounted sure. I missed out on buying a Gibson L$ for $1300 just because it had a neck repair, biggest regret I've had.

Are you sure that's repaired though, could just be a volute

No

>mfw trying to learn Knives Out by Radiohead on guitar
>starts out easy then Jonny starts throwing all those little fucking fills in there

Literally breaking my hand trying to do this

Why not just get a hollow body electric? They still sound pretty nice acousticslly and they're skinnier than a full acoustic

>TFW the only Radiohead songs I can play in full are Creep (Acoustic), Karma Police, and Motion Picture soundtrack
I really want to be able to play more of their shit, but I just don't have the patience to sit there for hours practicing a tab

I'm such a shit guitar player

Picked this up the other day, '96-'98 Japanese Squire Jagmaster. Plays like a dream and sounds pretty good too.

just keep working at it, if it was easy everyone would be good at it. There's a reason why you like playing guitar, so if you have to progress in your playing to stop you from becoming bored. You can do it, you just have to persevere

Learning Radiohead songs is the most fun i've had learning guitar, especially stuff like 15 Step, Nude and Bodysnatchers

How long have you been playing for, senpai?
10 years here, still can't play Knives Out though. Then again, i've never practiced playing the guitar by playing scales and what not, only by composing on it and playing songs that i wanted to play.

change the pickups, for some proper fender ones. It will sound even better

Paranoid Android, Airbag, In Limbo, Street Spirit, and Subterranean Homesick Alien are all pretty easy, I learnt all of those by ear after i'd only been playing for one year. You'll get there.

I was thinking about that. I use it mainly for a fairly mellow, Lo-fi kinda band (kinda like Low), and the neck pickup sounds pretty good for that, but could be better.
Are there any you'd suggest?

The Johnny Marr Bare Knuckle pickups from his signature Jaguar. You can get them for around £200 and it's honestly the best sounding pickups I've ever heard. But if you're looking for something a bit cheaper check out the rest of the Bare Knuckle stuff, they have some great ones

Thanks guys I'm keeping at it and trying, its just discouraging sometimes
Been playing for about 9 months now. I can play a lot of other songs but Radiohead is that one band where most of their shit is always way beyond my level for some reason

Anyone have a good guide for modifying electric guitars? Such as intalling a kill switch, changing pick ups and rewiring them and so on.

...

The only Johnny Marr pickups I can find on the internet are single-coil, this has humbuckers (which I personally like for what I play)

>21st century
>latest technology has brought new sonic possibilities
>easier than ever to find great pedals, amps, and guitars
>new equipment makes it possible to make a legendary tone
>he's trying to replicate some irrelevant sellout's tone on a squire strat going into a line 6 amp instead of trying to become a master
i get we all start somewhere, but c'mon guys. you're not even trying.

what the fuck dude, do you have any other pics to spam or is that it.
i can't see what you're talking about either post a better pic or stop your shit.

Guys what do you think of Tom Hess' guitar lessons?

I don't know too much about the guy. Seems a bit gimmicky but sometimes I think he knows what he's talking about re: concepts like directional picking, Jimmy Bruno style.

Levi Clay hates him, but I also think Levi Clay, despite being a knowledgeable and helpful teacher, is kind of a nitpicky asshole.

Theres literally websites for that. Use google. Were not gonna spoonfeed your dumbass. Thats how i had to learn to wire my shit up

Jcm900 fag here. Im the exception. Im stuck in the 1990's

Shut up faggot.
I bet you play a squier Jazzmaster.

How much was it?

A local shop here has one for 300, BUT its Chinese.

Um no sweetie. I install my own pickups and coil tap pots. Theres literally websites with wiring diagrams you fucking idiot. Just browse by pickup selector type.
>tfw install coil tapped suhr aldrich pickup into a 250 dollar guitar.
I love that pickup i just forget about it because the guitar its on.

Now I am getting quite decent at guitar I'm slightly pissed off at Justin Guitar for forcing this silly A chord method at the start of the course, I am struggling to get out of the index finger anchored on third string method when playing A E and D. Which one is better to switch to - conventional fist finger fourth, second on third and third on fourth string or index finger on all three? I can do both although I think index finger only is more prone to mistakes.

Sup Forums newbie here, I've been playing guitar off and on for about 2 years now. I've been wanting to get more serious about practice but every time I pick up my guitar I go back to my
bad habit of screwing around foe 15 minutes and stopping.

Do any of you have any advice for keeping myself on task?

I used to worry about stuff like this a lot when I was starting out. I still think about it from time to time, but I usually just slap my index finger across all 3 strings and call it a day. I don't really care if the high E string rings out or not, most of the time.

if you're expecting to play lots of E and D chords with your A, stick with his method, if not, use the other one.

Its all about forming chords the way youre comfortable that being said dont get too lazy or you will compromise your ability to change chords quickly. Some shapes are done specifically to "prepare" your fingering for the next chord. That way it looks and sounds seamless.
-jcm900fag

is there any way to effectively practice bar chords besides just playing them a lot?
my fingers are starting to hurt but I really want to play mbv songs

>besides just playing them a lot
Genetic enhancements?

Form the chord shape then press doen hard and play the chord string by string and make sure the notes that are supposed to make a sound do. Then practice practice strumming the chord and going into another chord and then back into the barre chord. Repeat for a long time.

Start with 3 or 4 string barres, then do 5 string barres, then do all 6 strings barre'd.

that is so incredibly stupid. do not do that. if you need the high E to ring out, just use 1 2 3. i feel like you don't 99% of the time so just barre it with the index
