Everything Everything

autechre but the grips are still top 5

Full of Hell

Literally all of them

First two albums where mediocre they're still very good
This might be it

Twenty One Pilots.

>autechre
wow that's terrible

the animal collection

the sufjans stevensons

How is authecre terrible?

he's innovative at making me question my sexuality but im meaning innovative with regards to music

Putting "obscure" high pitch noises over generic pop songs doesn't count as innovation

idm and glitch music wouldn't be where it is today without autechre

What did they actually do that was innovative?

>illinois
>the age of adz
>not innovative
name 1 album that sounds similar, yeah didn't think so faggot

Seven swans and carrie and lowell

>nigger screams in a mic while industrial plays in the background
>iinovative
fuck off underage

2 irrelevant genres

NOTM literally can't exist without ae

would disagree with this

I'm thinking you meant to respond to someone else? NOTM is my favorite DG album specifically because of the autechre influence. the last bit of big dipper reminds me a lot of lentic catachresis

>I'm thinking you meant to respond to someone else?

Oh, no, I was just adding in to what you said.

everything they've done, everything that comprises the death grips concept, has never been CONCEIVED let alone executed before by man

jai paul if he'd release more music, also not a band

Aren't Death Grips just the noise equvalent of 21 pilots

BiS so far as the conventions of commercial pop music. Ariel Pink, John Maus, Tentenko, Anklepants, Boris... A lot of bands. Death Grips have the conceptual value on top of the innovation, though.

>death grips
>industrial
pffffahahaha
Fuck off you retard

fuck jai his window of opportunity has passed, he was too caught up in MUH mysticism and he fucking blew it, it's over and he will never be what he could have been, fucking indians literally can't do anything right.

Lil Peep reinvented emo

Radiohead, got interesting with ok computer exactly 20 years ago

Where should I start with Autechre if I loved NOTM?

>reapropriated

Please explain how anything you posted was innovative.

quaristice and their live shows from 2005-2008

also untilted
youtube.com/watch?v=HX_LqkINiu8

3 6 mafia

If you understand the cultural context of each of the acts then you'll easily understand. If you are braindead you won't. Pretty simple. Commercial music is a cultural industry, after all.

...

>live shows from 2005-2008
fuck yes, live at glasgow arts school is one of the best live sets I have ever heard

Why Sup Forums praise everything everything so much? What's so special about this band?

nah, they're good but they aren't doing anything special in grind. Maybe The Body though.

>Altibzz is fantastic
>Rest of Quaristice fails to capture the same feel

So disappointing

thanks for looking out for us, i almost fell for it

Oh come one. They're good but the fucking circlejerk is going too far.

>Why Sup Forums praise everything everything so much?
Fantano

>What's so special about this band?
Fantano liked their previous album

It's mostly /r/indieheads tourists

Sounds like you just wanted a different genre.

Radiohead is a lot of things, innovative is absolutely not one of them

listening to that right now
this is some good shit

SWANS you fucking dipshit.

wtf no

>invented and popularized post rock

??

Honestly, you're gonna have to wait a long time before this board is capable of discussing this band with memes aside.

But to answer your question, no. I haven't heard anything as unique and boundary-challenging come out since The Money Store, No Love Deep Web, Government Plates and The Powers That B.

lil b

...

>from the last 20 years

Yeah. More like nu-metal.

Leprous

>no guitars
>metal
Do you think you're being witty or something? Because you're not. You're being a fucking idiot. The laughing stock of this board.

Ignore "death grips is nu-metal" posts, it's a forced meme that dates back to JD.

???????????
do nonmusicians actually believe this

Ariel Pink
James Ferraro
Mark Kozelek

all more innovative than reddit grips

People who have heard the krautrock and post punk they water down for people like you do

60 posts in and surprisingly there hasn't been a single post saying something along the lines of Death Grips not being worth shit... damn gg all

Dalek
Blackie
Deathspell Omega
Alcest
Kanye West
Lex Luger (the hip hop producer)
Lil Ugly Mane
Pyrrhon
Autechre's work Confield and after
Portal
Ben Frost
Burial
Actress
Animal Collective
Arca
Daniel Lopatin
Fuck Buttons/Blanck Mass
Clams Casino
El-P
Converge on Jane Doe and after
Demdike Stare
Gnaw Their Tongues
Gorguts
Prurient

I can keep going on and on. The idea being that Death Grips don't actually do anything different structurally nor are the timbres that they use unique/new either.

Answers like this are the reason why everybody on this board hates DG fans.

Basically, they fused a bunch of genres like hardcore punk and industrial music (I could name more but I don't feel like giving some shitty essay reply) with hip-hop, and got really creative with their usage of samples like pretty much nobody has before. I'm not a huge hip-hop fan so I'm sure people could point out other examples, but the subject matter of Ride's lyrics are also pretty different for hip-hop, especially with his vocabulary and rhyming-style.

Idk who browses Sup Forums these days so I don't know what kind of music the people that hate dg so much are into, but I remember it taking me many listens to "get" the aesthetic of TMS (or DG in general). Then again, I didn't know shit about production, sampling, hip-hop or pretty much any experimental music outside of Pink Floyd back in 2012 so my perspective isn't the same as it was when I was getting into them.

Voila

Also wtf are you doing, some of those are contemporaries which DG preceded

OP said artists that are more innovative in general which is why there's a variety of artists on it. There has definitely been stuff that has come out after DG's releases that has actually innovated.

Yeah I see, I was just about to delete my post. Still though I'm inclined to disagree with you. Lots and lots of reaching there

Which ones?

i really hate that death grips is the new babby's first alternative, they deserve better. and not because they're innovative because they aren't.

wow I just found the most self-unaware, cancer thread on all of Sup Forums

wait a second...DG are trash and uninnovative themselves
fuck outta here, first you have to prove how they're innovative in the first place

they cancelled a show... because it was too hot.... ahahahaha pussies

If you like this nu-male trash you should leave immediately.

Swans
Belbury Poly
The Caretaker
Burial
Pye Corner Audio

I bet you can't even explain why you think that. Talk about unself-aware, faggot.

Lp5 (because everybody has a different answer)

Similar emotion imo + weird percussion but you can still tell what's going on like notm.

...

nigga what when

This is one of the most civil discussions we've had in years with the words "death" and "grips" in the OP. If you have an issue with the band itself then that's a whole other thing. Zero to do with this thread.
Plenty of posts above yours detail why

No new release for the eclipse? :(

The OP says, and I quote "All memes aside name a more innovative band from the last 20 years."
If you look closely, you'll see that this contains neither the word "death" nor "grips"

...

I don't think sweet trip was succesfully innovative, but definitely experimental

they legit look like a poor mans neutral milk hotel

Perturbator
