Female Solo Artists

Trying to convince my sister there is better stuff than Taylor Swift by making a female solo artist playlist.

I'm already including tracks by Janelle Monae, Bjork, Chelsea Wolfe, Kate Bush, Grimes and Nina Simone. Recommend me some other tracks please.

delete those
include Joanna Newsom

Don't think she's on spotify otherwise I would.

she is on there you

Just the Muppet Song, which I thought was a joke about her voice at first, but I guess she contributed to it

Added PJ Harvey and Pat Benatar. Want to add Patti Smith but I just never got into her.

Luminous Orange desu

Your sisters favorite artist is Taylor Swift and you're reccing her fucking Chelsea Wolfe? You know there needs to be dome actual musical similarities other than the singer not having a dick.

yeah thats like Chelsea Wolfe never made a trap song

I'm mixing it in with more pop oriented stuff. She is open to darker stuff

Got Marianne Faithfull, Cyndi Lauper, Lykke Li, Regina Spektor, St Vincent, Lydia Lunch

Mary Spender:

Not technically a solo artist, but Hannah Reid of London Grammar:

Throw in some Neko Case and Eleanor Friedberger.

Taylor's new song is so awful I'm surprised normies still like it

Lol it's the only song of hers I've heard so far that I actually liked

damn drag city needs to get their shit together then

That's a band

My sister hates the new song. I was telling her there's better female artists anyway.

I listened to the new song..I don't know, it seemed about standard to me. I forgot how it goes already, but that's always the case. Not trying to be a snob, I just don't get what people see in her.

Thanks!

St. Vincent
Regina Spektor

Regina Spektor

Luminous Orange is basically a solo act, though.

Mitski, Angel Olsen

Also Fiona Apple

Liz Phair's Exile in Guyville is worth checking out

Adrianne Lenker
Julien Baker
Julia Jacklin
Katie Dey
Joni Mitchell

Nico

Prussian Blue

Play this in it's entirety.

Not solo, but Strawberry Switchblade and Blondie. And The Creatures are a lot poppier than Siouxsie and The Banshees. Also, someone on Sup Forums recommend me this when I was looking for modern pop.

Nice.

Try Esperanza Spalding. And St. Vincent ofc

Florence + The Machine.

How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful is a pretty decent album.

Why does it need to be solo female artist then?

Nelly Furtado, SZA, Tei Shi, Kehlani, Carly Rae Jepsen

Those are all pop music, accessible but a vast improvement.

Grimes of course.

Julia Holter, give Loud City Song a listen. And Joanna Newsom 100%, just stream it off youtube its all there

Vashti Bunyan

this.
also, Lianne La Havas is a great choice because it's very accessible and fantastic at the same time.

why only EPs for Twigs? LP1 is her greatest work

lorde desu

It does absolutely not compare to EP1 or M3LL155X, stop deluding yourself.
