tourist filters yet compiled because nu-/metal/ isn't totally hopeless. recs still open
Friendly reminder that if you pigeonhole yourself into one subgenre of metal then you're a false that needs to get out.
Sodomize the holy asshole
The very first metal album
any extreme metal will do
reminder to ban the spam fag
keep posting some of that BLACK MÉTAL CRASSEUX
The only Nile album I've ever liked
Stray from the Path

if anything goes it could use a bit more heavy metal like sortilège's s/t
(also maybe add names)
does dave mustaine really know his solos?
sometimes he's ok and other times all over the place
>nu-males listen unriffs sliting their wrists in a norwegian forest

sure made me think

Atleast Death Metal overtook Trad's position
imagine listening to pop rock so unremarkable you have to shitpost to get anybody to notice it at all
>unriffs
I miss this meme
>the absolute state of meloshits
looks good to me
not as cool as egyptian riffs
So is the new Akercocke good or not?
Daily reminder that Joey Demaio is the biggest chad in all of metal

>black metal got more votes than there were posters in the last thread
>black metal has nearly twice as many votes as the 2nd most popular genre
>Death, Doom/Sludge, and Trad are basically neck and neck (not a bad thing)
>Only 6 votes for thrash
>Prog has a decent amount of votes despite how much shit it gets
>4 people actually voted for melodeath as their favorite metal genre
>to emphasize my point, out of every single subgenre in metal that covers all forms and styles of music be it abrasive or melodic, 4 people actually voted for melodeath as their favorite subgenre amongst the entirety of metal's far-reaching modes of expression
>4 votes for folk metal
I'm not even mad about this I actually want to hear from some folk anons. I'm mainly pissed that 4 people actually picked melodeath as their favorite metal genre, it's one thing to say its your favorite style of death metal but to actually put Bjorn "Speed" Strid: The Genre as your favorite is completely beyond me.
you listened to Dodecahedron yet?
In all seriousness, I think that along with the album you posted and Ulcerate's Of Fracture And Failer, Portal's Seepia is the best example of the substyle, yet to be topped, even by their own Swarth. It's such an overlooked album. Really, what do people see in Outre'? If anything it's a step down from their debut.
Are there any egyptian unriffs?
It's on my backlog, after 10 years it better be fucking good
there's nothing bigger a tourist can do than asking for directions
There are four people reading this thread who consider this to be the apex of metal.

I guess, many of those are readable anyways.
There's two molested records there also, I think we could trim stuff to 1 per artist.
Who are the four /madmen/ who think
>riff starts
>riff stops
>"GO"
>riff resumes
Is a good songwriting technique?
Look man, you can meme on this general as much as you want, but at the end of the day, especially when anonimity is complete (that is to say, no one can even reply to your comment), black metal is still the ultimate conclusion of metal, and, contrary to the image opposers are trying to push on this board, it can be both absolutely primitive and square, or the most successful melting pot for radical ideas and deviations.
Black metal is like the white canvas upon the whole of metal can coexist and be free, while creating something holistically different from the sum of its parts.
It's the most popular because it's the most versatile, and the ultimate tourist filter (ignoring the edges of bm that fell to the grubby hands of hipsters and nu-males, but that alone should be a testament to bm's scope and reach). Black metal, unlike most (dare I say, all) subgenres, can successfully incorporate any, ANY element from any other metal subgenre and make it work without losing its black metal identity.
Besides dude, blakk metl ist krieggg
>non-shitpost content outside of nbbmn
bold lad, but I agree with the sentiment
You know for all the trad posting you would think trad/heavy metal is what these meme fucks talk about
ThereIn is one of the best DT songs
>Are there any egyptian unriffs?
oh there's plenty, BaN comes to mind
ONCE OUT IN THE FRAY
WE'LL BE CLOOOOOOONED
>tfw one of the biggest melodeath defenders and melodeath is not even your favorite genre
Can we make a chart of the most hated, divisive, or at least passively scorned (relatively well known) metal albums in history? Especially the stuff that comes from bands that already had a reputation for quality metal. Stuff like SOTS, Sound Of Perseverance, Grave New World, maybe Cold Lake, St. Anger (thought as of late there's been a wave of contrarianesque defenders of that album), etc? The condemned metal albums, you know. Albums that seem condemned to stir shit-flinging flamewars whenever mentioned.
this moron doesn't even play a proper bass guitar, using a thin electric guitar neck instead
what a pussy
Post metal words:
Annihilation
Blood
Sword
>BaN
>egyptian unriffs
I'm utterly confused
>I share a general with newfags that have never seen the JUST charts
black metal is the football team, death/doom the basketball team, and power/prog and below at their own lunch tables playing MTG

Something more specific, not just cringe albums. Albums that, regardless of their artistic merit, have that effect in the community.
black metal can't be any US-exclusive sports
bm is more like Finnish hockey
I like the idea but I feel like albums like Cold Lake, Grave New World, and St. Anger shouldn't be included. For the most part those albums are uniformly scorned (minus the occasional contrarian). It should include albums that marked a shift in a band's style which led to a divide between fans who hated what said style brought and despise it for betraying the band's roots. To add a few
Carcass - Heartwork
Gorguts - Obscura
Burzum - Filosofem
Sepultura - Roots
Morbid Angel - Blessed Are The Sick

I'm waiting for someone who's enough of a madman to make a ft. Bjorn "Speed" Strid chart that gets updated every month to sync with his busy schedule.
Industrial black but it isn't on here
>Carcass - Heartwork
>Gorguts - Obscura
>Burzum - Filosofem
But those albums are praised by a large majority of the metal community, both within and without this general. I'm talking about the Seemingly Irredeemables.
>Sepultura - Roots
>Morbid Angel - Blessed Are The Sick
That's more like it
no prog black

How many industrial black albums are there even?
I know there's a guy on RYM that has a list of it but I don't know if it gets updated regularly. I had a list at one point but I stopped with it like 9 months ago.
>Strid is such a madman his last feature was one week ago

Why is no one talking about this?
plenty enough
that one concept album about the hospital from silent hill
about a hundred, I'd say
>Triumph of the Will
I can think of at least 15-20 IBM albums that I really, really like, and maybe 5-10 extra albums that I think are pretty ok
Found the RYM list
>80 different bands
>doesn't include his newest feature

where my DHG clique at
This one.
name them please
Will Smith
DHG a shit
quality of this post: bad
I actually wonder if it would be possible for /metal/ to make its own song which features Bjorn "Speed" Strid. It's not like writing melodic metalcore/melodeath is that hard a task anyway. I'm pretty sure if you're able to get a hold of him you could probably get him to feature in one of your songs for a couple bucks.
>Mussorgski
>Vorak
might as well name your band Eethoven...
>shining, a non-metal band is there, just because they called their album blackjazz and has some electronics
>the only industrial bm album AN have released is their debut
>since when is (V.E.G.A.) industrial
>no Grand Declaration Of War
>no Sprawl
>Menace Ruine? Murmüüre?
>The Helheim Society - Fenriz?
>you can't include albums like Rebel Extravaganza and not include Themes From William Blake's The Marriage Of Heaven And Hell
OVERALL it's a nice chart, but seems a bit haphazard
how does a retard upload an mp3 to yt
Does more than one release per artist count?
I half-recommend RAISM: aesthetic terrorism
it's funny
it's really clumsy, half of the tracks are remixed, you got a blackened acid trance song on it, you got some blackened hardtek, lots of funny shit, some good riffs, lots of experiments. Released very early compared to the rest of the genre
>Open windows movie maker
>upload MP3 for the sound
>upload cover art for visual
>stretch the first to the length of the first
>save as WMV or whatever
>upload to YT
>have your video taken down two days later for copyright infringment
Ever give this a listen?
What IS this album? Is it black metal? Black thrash? Merely hellenic black? Is it melodic? This album has me utterly confused because it's too normal sounding yet I can't put my finger on whatever it's supposed to be.
I made this chart a year ago for /nbbmn/, I know it's flawed
That's ok, at least it covers the more obvious essentials (though I would have chosen a different Axis/Anaal album)
