listen to it you cunt
listen to Ice Ages
What's the appeal to the genre? I've tried getting into darkwave stuff, and I could never get into like drone metal, but I see the appeal to dark pop and shit.
Does it put you in a certain mental state when listening? Do you feel easy?
I'm genuinely curious. If you have any recommendations for getting into the genre, I would really appreciate it.
I wanna draw another tiny goth gal
what should she be doing?
did they rip off deconstructionist?
thanks
it's dark, retro, bassy music, sometimes ethereal as well, what's not to like?
makes me feel ambitious desu
first track that i listened to, i believe, was this one, wouldnt recommend listening to the whole album tho

The Frozen Autumn
darkwave is very solemn, very gloomy, but it's got that romantic delicacy that you can't really find in stuff like drone. It's got the same basic appeal as new romantic synthpop but extra gloomy and majestic.
cause drone, at the end of the day, is just music to zone out to.
darkwave is more like
you know
like this chick:
smoking
only good recommendation desu
don't talk shit about ice ages

Does /dark/ like dark-sounding trip-hop?
I don't
i don't like it sorry man i want something more post punk
I just like goth music, one of the few styles nowadays that features a prominent and grinding bass.
eh
What kind of dark wave do you like OP? Neoclassical? (DCD) The kind that favors Post-Industrial sounds? (Gary Numan) Well rounded mix of gothic rock and synth? (Clan of Xymox) Or more synth, less rock? (Psyche)
Clan of Xymox type
goth rock is welcome too

bomp
It pisses me off so fucking much how /dark/ is basically shit music stealing the dungeon synth imagery. Delete this general.
ebin trip
If you're into deathrock, you should check my friends band, witchhands.

Lol wut
what do we think?
its sucks
Las Manos de Filippi are an alternative rock band from Argentina that mostly mixes ska, reggae and other latin rhythms with rock, rap and punk, but somehow they managed to pull off an amazing darkwave/goth rock album, maybe one of the best in the genre from latin american countries: Las Manos Santas Van a Misa.

A fine album, better than their first.
You got a black shirt, black skirt...
Fuck off.
And bauhaus stuck on ur hed...
It's cathartic and has some great sounds.
This is one of my faves

Here's some of the darkest stuff you'll ever come across...nothing like sitting in your dimly lit sacrificial chamber only light enough to see the outlines of things and giving this a spin while clad in your black shirt, black skirt, and with bauhaus stuck in your head...
Suicide is necessary for your life.
Whoa baby, DARK... 0_o
gib me /dark/ ambient reccs, guys
Preferably w/ industrial vibes
youtube.com
it's by the same dude
No ita edgy shit shit-tier like dubstep

New Cleopatra signees. Guitar player is fucking amazing, although you kinda have to hear him play live to realize it. I don't feel like their recordings are very good at all compared to how they are live. They really pull it off like a proper live band not 2 Dudes and their Computers like every other darkwave act.
>herbst9 vs z'ev - through bleak landscapes
is this /dark/?
what are the best clan of xymox albums? I loved Medusa, where do I go from there?
why do /dark/ threads always die after I post?
/dark/ is just perpetually dying
just like all of us
Give me more deathrock like this
youtube.com
Hey at least we've had /dark/s almost every day, and with a few dozen replies. Have some /dark/
I'm... Kind of new to this kind of music, can anyone point me to a good starting point?
I like Disintegration and Pornography, I like Ocean Rain, I like Bela Lugosi's Dead (i think everyone does at this point)
Where should I start?
YTPO
Go through the discographies of Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division, Fields of the Nephilim, the Damned, Killing Joke, The Mission and The Chameleons. That should cover most of the "classics", you can pretty much just start with the debut for each of them.
Oh, fuck yeah, Joy Division too, Unknown Pleasures is awesome.
I've heard of Siouxsie And The Banshees, and Sisters Of Mercy sounds REALLY familiar. I'll check those two out first.

You are going to say that compared to all the waifu and feels threads here?

Why?
Their second album is a bit disappointing if you want more of the same though. It's still interesting, just very different.
I like their self-titled album, Twist of Shadows, Notes From the Underground, Farewell
/dark/bump
