Good musician, idiotic persona and ideology.

reddit in a form of a man

The state of this board... I mean, it's already been run to the ground. The only thing left to do is indulge in shitposting for free.

Incredibly prolific, very consistent, idiosyncratic, talented, ridiculously eclectic, innovative, and widely influential...what's not to like?

Where's the lie?

>stop disliking an artist I like!
are you serious? one of them even said they like his music you fucking sensitive faggot

capitalism doesnt work because people like to exploit other people

But that's also why communism doesn't work

no its why capitalism doesnt work
it says right there at the start of the sentence

Sup Forums will never recover from this shit..fuck tumblr

He has a large number of really genius albums. I wish people would actually discuss his music more around here but whatever

no no that's communism, read Orwell

You realize Orwell was actually a Marxist, right?

I will gladly discuss his music with you
Favorite/least favorite album? Favorite song? Most underrated songs/releases?
I'm personally a big fan of Fillmore East and Just Another Band from L.A. - they may be high on comedy and low on actual composition, but the performances are tight and I love the guitar tone on those two records

Communism is not a tool you fucking idiots, communism means evolved capitalism, and you can't "create" it no matter how "communist" you think you are. And Zappa was really lame when it came to anything more serious than making fun of his contemporary pop culture. My god, just listen to him talking about things that don't involve music, it's appalling pseudo-intellectualism.

communism is for underachievers

Funny, since he wrote a novella clearly detailing the failings of communism

Marx literally refutes that in the Manifesto, the idea that communism wants to steal the fruits of your labor.

Like, it's ok to not be communist and so on, but come on, it's not ok to criticize something with false claims.

This just shows how stupid Frank Zappa is. Not only him desu, but almost every fucking American that likes to say that communism is like this or like that but never bothered in read a single line of Marx and Engels. Not even the basic ass book that the manifesto is.

shm

Suggest you re-read it, it is a deliberate attack on the soviet union and stalinism. It does little to criticise communism.

My fav of his will probably always be one size fits all, just because thats the first I listened too from him. Otherwise though I love Roxy and Elsewhere and the first shut up and play yer guitar, and hot rats of course.

I fit more into the camp of I prefer composer Zappa to singing Zappa. I think my fav song would have to be the son of mr green genes for this reason. The bass at the beginning of that song is beautiful, and the whole thing has such a brilliant unique psychedelic atmosphere.

I agree about his tone, he always has the right tone for every kind of solo, which is very impressive. Also his guitar usually sounds pretty unique and can be instantly recognized as Zappa.

>tfw you're a lover of capitalism and Animal Farm is your favorite book bc it pwns commies then you learn that Orwell was a socdem anti-capitalist commie

Do you think Salinger wrote Holden Caufield to kill John Lennon?

Yeah, I agree with you on having multiple genius albums
To me, Absolutely Free, Hot Rats, Burnt Weeny Sandwich, The Grand Wazoo, One Size Fits All, and the highly underrated Mothers of Prevention are all virtually 10/10s for me, with Roxy coming pretty close as well
His guitar solos are incredible. They aren't mind-blowing shredfests or anything, but the way he's able to perfectly match dissonant weirdness with your standard pentatonic licks is amazing to me
Willie the Pimp is a great example - the way he's able to hold my interest over the course of what is effectively a 9-minute guitar solo is incredible

Frank Zappa is the proof that right-wingers can't make good music.

Do I think you're a cretin? Yes

Communism is unable to completely banish class, it just rearranges the definition of class so people think they're living in a "worker's state" while the government takes over the exploitative role from corporate business.

Communists still believe in personal belongings you fucking retard, just not full blown consumerism.

Weasels Ripped My Flesh was amazing btw

well he is definitely right about communism not working

I totally agree all those albums are virtually flawless, I would even personally include Freak Out up there too.

In terms of improvisation, Zappa is one of the best guitarists probably to ever release his own music. Any metal guitar centre player can sweep pick a fast and flashy solo, but the way Zappa is constantly bringing unique and interesting ideas into his solos for some ungodly song lengths is extremely impressive. The dude was insane.

more like frank faggot.

You know what communism doesn't work? Because it still requires people who are over you.
Communism doesn't want to steal, but people do.
Both communism and capitalism are outdated, already proven flawed systems and ideologies.
Only thing worse than an ignorant american that defends capitalism is an ignorant hipster that thinks he knows shit because he read the commie manifesto while drinking his starbucks mocca and resting his mac on the lap.

that's why it DOES work

Nice cop-out, for a second I thought you weren't a brainless fag with no rebuttal.

Seriously
The fact that I can enjoy listening to the entirety of Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar and Guitar (FOUR LITERAL HOURS OF GUITAR SOLO) is ridiculous
Freak Out! is probably up there among my favorite Zappas too
That record must have sounded unbelievable in 1966
I seriously think the influence of Freak Out! is one of Zappa's most underappreciated contributions to rock music - I mean, that album basically sits alongside Pet Sounds as one of the first albums to attempt "rock as art music"

Marx hated Jews and blacks, why do you Nazis keep defending him s m h

It is just difficult to rebut nonsense but I suppose I can give it a go:

Some weird guy misreads a book and says and does stupid things based on that misreading. So you are the Mark David Chapman of Orwell scholarship? Who are you going to shoot based on your creative misreadings?

>the government takes over the exploitative role from corporate business
Yes, but that's not communism. That's state capitalism and it's practiced under one name or another from Scandinavia to America.
>so people think they're living in a "worker's state"
People lived in real workers' states for short periods of time during revolutions in the 20th century, but again, that's not communism, that's socialist states. Socialist states don't necessarily accelerate the evolvement of capitalism and can be reactionary (see the supression of the Spanish insurrection in the 30s) and more detrimental to communism than ordinary capitalist states.

some music since it's a music board

Oh totally, listening to other stuff from around that time period, there was basically NOTHING that sounded like it, except at some points it resembles the genres Frank was actually mocking.

It's probably his funniest IMO too. Go Cry on Somebody Else's shoulder is like something Ween might make, 30 years later.

Frank sure knew how to manipulate his fans in to swallowing shit.

Maybe some weird guy purposefully misreads Animal Farm and twists it to his own commie ends.

You clearly missed the point. Orwell was LITERALLY a communist. What you take from his writings depends on your own views

he was a Berniebro not a commie reEEEEEE

Oh so suicide? I approve.

It's quotes like this are why i will literally NEVER listen to Zappa

lol XD

While technically a SocDem, he did serve in a Marxist militia. Close enough for me

fred zappa is the biggest queer homo in music history

...

>DUDE FUCK THE GOVERNMENT LMAO

smart man

Some of Zappa's early music was really far ahead of its time...as far as I can tell, Absolutely Free was effectively the first prog album
A complex, virtuosic, jazz/classical-influenced rock album in which each side comprises a conceptual suite - in 1967!

It really is interesting how borked Americans perception of far left politics used to be, huh? Like, imagine thinking in '68, when Humphrey was the dem nominee, that the dem party was 'overrun by communist elements.'

>DUDE YOU'RE ALL A BUNCH OF PLASTIC PEOPLE, IM THE ONLY AUTHENTIC PERSON WHO KNOWS THE TRUTH LMAO

*5 minute jazz fart*

Wow he really did invent prog

>DUDE EVERYONE ON BOTH SIDES ARE STUPID, WHY ARE WE THE ONLY SMART ONES? LMAO

*just 6 minutes of random noise*

that's not this album's message, are you retarded?

yes it is

You either don't get it or you haven't even listened to the albums.
