I've noticed that the more like the player enemies are in a game, the more fun it is.
Why don't all games do this? Make it so that the player is fighting computer-controlled players which can do all the same things as the player.
Ring Runner and Magicka both have plenty of enemies that can do all the same stuff as the player, and are pretty smart on top of that. And they're both great games.

It's nearly impossible to simulate the fuckups humans do. Specifically in magicka: AI enemies were stupid as fuck, usually had fixed rotations of spells and not really any smart imo.
Also i never really often used the shields - if you implement AIs, they'll most often use all possibilities at their discretion, which many actual players do not.

None of the JPanel constructor overloads take a reference to a parent container. You can only set the layout manager and whether it's double-buffered.
All I need is a reference to the JFrame so I can call repaint & revalidate on it from inside the JPanel.

Jank city pajeet way to solve the problem is to create a new class that inherits from JPanel, and just set the reference as a private variable. You know what the JFrame is when you instantiate the JPanel so you should be able to pass the reference then.

My JPanel is a derived class already, and I was considering just doing that if I couldn't figure it out. It isn't a great way, but even my prac teacher suggested doing that. I guess I should just give in. I doubt the lecturer will care when he marks it. He's pretty laid back.
