Pretty much this. Disease was a prevalent thing in European nations and as a result, the white race developed anti-bodies to deal with the infection at its earliest stages. As disease and genetics evolved, the strain would inevitably become more deadly to other races. It's a combination European's being adapted to (and mostly immune to) the diseases that clung to their genes, and a lack of understanding on genetic diversity across regions.
