Not supposed to be the best. The lead single for 1989 was Shake It Off, and the lead single for Red was We Are Never Ever Getting Back together. Both albums undeniably have much better songs in them (Style, Wildest Dreams, Clean, for the former, All Too Well, State of Grace, Holy Ground, Treacherous for the latter). The most likely reason this song is the lead single for Reputation is the theme and the controversy. Obviously, it was a good move, it's already breaking records.
