Pokemon box 2

Pokemon box 2.

Previous thread:
Requests welcome.

I prefer discord for chat, it's much easier and less stilted.

But there's also times where things flow more easily when people know it's less permanent.

There's a mix of priorities, I suppose.

...

...

Discord is trash. And from years of using avatarfag threads, I know it's not hard to talk here, if you have something to talk about.
But I don't know if I have much to talk about now. I'm logging into some virtual reality systems at the moment though: ever used any before?

...

...

Naw, VR has never really been my thing. Partially because until recently I didn't have a rig that could come close to running it.

I've been tempted by it but I figure if I'm going to drop large amounts of money on games I'll just get a Switch since I know I'm getting one sooner or later.

...

...

...

What does it smell like i wonder...

Oh, I'm not talking about headset VR stuff: I don't own one. I meant virtual reality in general. Like MUCKs or second life, though I'm specifically using MUCKs.
>I'll just get a Switch since I know I'm getting one sooner or later
Sounds good. For which games?

Knotting and/or horsecocks please

Oh, naw, I've never been much a fan of those either. RP in general doesn't appeal to me because most people couldn't write to save their life, let alone emulate one.

Mario Odyssey looks pretty damn good, I already have Breath of the Wild on Wii U so I wouldn't want that. Maybe Splatoon, but I've never really enjoyed console shooters.

Plus, eventually there'll be a smash game and a pokemon game on switch, and those are both big draws for me.

...

...

While virtual reality can facilitate roleplay, it's not solely about roleplay. It's entirely possible to create characters and settings and rooms and items, and then just be entirely out of character.
Smash is fun, but I've only played the first three, as I've unfortunately only touched a wii u like twice in my life. I wonder, if it's for the Switch, if they're do two editions of the game still. Yeah, they definitely will.

...

...

Okay.

No reason not to make two versions given they've done that for every other pokemon gen.

...

True.

...

Kirlia anyone?

Male or female?

Also, you weren't really missing much with Smash 4. While it's not as unremarkable as Smash 3 I've never really felt an overwhelming urge to play it much.

Brawl was alright, but I mostly played it as a kid. I really liked subspace emissary as a kid. I know how turbotryhards feel about it.

...

Subspace emissary was a lot of fun. To my understanding it was actually a scrapped Kirby game which is why it's very robust for a multiplayer fighting game.

Smash 4 has an incredibly shitty and luck based board game... thing instead.

Plus the menus are complete and total garbage.

...

...

...

>scrapped kirby game
How interesting. I'd never have guessed, really. Only the maze feels like a Kirby game.

Before the discord was made, were there more posters here to talk with?

Yeah, but the discord isn't the only reason for the decline.

...

What are the other reasons, then? I always see discord kill discussion on Sup Forums and it pains me.

...

...

The split to otherchan peeled off members, people naturally drift away, and the fact it's 2AM is also non-trivial.

Discord was certainly the biggest factor.

...

...

...

...

...

...

Oh yeah, I forget about that one existing. It has such a bad, clunky interface. Reminds me, I genuinely want to begin using 7chan sometime. Yes, seven, not a typo.
I use multiple small imageboards, they're fun.

i want to fuck this

Anatomically correct absol is even better

I've never really like the allure. The main thing I enjoy about Sup Forums is how fast and transient it is.

...

I prefer fast boards too. It's one of the reasons I don't hang out on trash

...

...

I like discussion, and speed can help discussion, but discussion can still happen on slower boards. For me, imageboards are just textboards with images. I come for discussion, arguments, conversation, thought-provoking ideas.
Sup Forums doesn't have much of that anymore. Mostly blue boards have it.

Is it just my browser, or does that image have a thumbnail of meg

The thing we loved about Sup Forums back in 2003/2004 was the fact that threads were constantly coming and going and nothing was permanent. We got rid of the "niche internet forum" politics, the attentionwhores, the "oh x person is a fucking idiot don't listen to what he says". Every thread was its own separate thing. Discord can't replace that for me. You have to go back to worrying about how you look to people, you can't tell someone to fuck off for doing stupid shit without lasting repercussions.

Hell I can't be in a pokemon porn thread and also be able to say "nah I don't like weird shit" in another thread in discord. I hate not being anonymous anywhere anymore.

The trouble with trash is a thread no one cares about can be kept alive for days and days by only one or two people.

It's hard to have a conversation when everything is like treacle.

On Sup Forums you thrive or you die, damn near instantly.

Keeps things fresh.

I do agree that if you're looking for actual *content* slower boards are better.

Thumbnail swaps are pretty common. My image got posted at the same second as that image and Sup Forums stores images with timestamp-based names.

If you get two images in the same fraction of a second the server mixes them up. Thumbnails, sizes, sometimes the entire image is swapped.

You can do that to a degree if you're willing to only use your discord profile in one discord, but I understand not wanting to have to remove the mask of "user".

But people only can tell you're in a discord if they share it with you. They can't look up your profile and see you're into pokemon.

>we
You and who?
But yes.
>nothing was permanent
This is important for all imageboards. I very much agree. Even small imageboards benefit from making sure nothing is permanent.
>You have to go back to worrying about how you look to people, you can't tell someone to fuck off for doing stupid shit without lasting repercussions.
Correct, because there's no anonymity, you can't have true discussion there. Unlike IRC, where you can change your name very easily and very thoroughly and no one will know it's you, instantly. Though imageboards still are more anonymous than IRC.
>I hate not being anonymous anywhere anymore.
That feel. It's still possible to be anonymous on small imageboards, but as I read on /jp/ once:
>Even though no one uses names, sometimes you learn who certain anonymous posters are by connecting their posts, and you think of them as a friend.

The easiest thing to do is not to negotiate with terrorists. If you dislike Discord, stop using it. Uninstall, rename your account, change email, change password. You sadly can't delete a discord account.

...

...

I'm not very good at discussion. I mainly come for the images tbh. I usually get to see more content on the faster boards than the slower ones.

I also don't hangout in trash because it's pretty much a porn board. I see enough of that here on Sup Forums. I've had to cut back on viewing porn otherwise I just lose all interest.

...

I have a certain routine of searching for porn in a methodical way I use in the evening to wind down.

Not really for arousal's sake but just to have a pattern.

I keep up with trash because sometimes things are posted there I don't see anywhere else and the drawthreads used to be excellent.

And I'm not great at discussion either, in no small part because I don't do much.

I work from home, have few hobbies, do the same things day in and day out.

Hard to tell a riveting story if the plot never changes.

...

Yeah, I use discord like I used to use IRC and everything. It's a place to hang out with friends you play games with and shit. I hate using it for typical imageboard shit so I don't. It just sucks that people are so willing to give up being user and go back to the forum politics most of us came to imageboards to avoid.

I see tons of the same old shit we used to see in the late 90s/early 2000's. The token female poster getting shit tons of attention from thirsty losers and getting special treatment, the mods who think they're better than everyone else, the asinine arguments and drama that get stretched out forever because people can't just change their name and start over easily. Fuck that noise.
