both /r/vaporwave and /r/simpsonswave were "trending subreddits" last week. not sure what to make of this. thoughts?

>simpsonswave
This is the most embarrassing thing I've heard of in months. jfc.

true but the foundations of vaporwave banshee and macintosh havent been active in years and I dont know much about reddit because i never go on it but there isnt much ironic and unironic vaporwave on YT

normie memes it is embarrassing

I T S Y O U R M O V E

post nightcore is going to replace vaporwave

Reddit has the only furry community that's not autistic af.

Vaporwave should have died in 2012

music is dead considering only rap with trap beats is somewhat relevant now

Only good thing to come out of vaporwave is mallsoft, shit is comfy af

vaporwave never came to our plane of existence, it is neither born nor dead.

I T S A L L I N Y O U R H E A D

this makes no sense what so ever

its cute af

...

vaporwave is barely a real genre.

both of those people have been active at least within the past eight months.
MEGA, no?

>nu simpsons

I've tried to get into vaporwave but I just haven't really found anything I like. Anyone got some essentials or something to start at?

Whoever made this put way too much effort into doing it

vaporwave for me was when macintosh plus was first being spammed around here, havent followed it then besides noticing it in twitter memes

hey vaporwave fans always get shit for being lazy

Fuck no, Vaporwave will forever live on in my heart, it's the last reminder of a beautiful timeline when everything had a beautiful and elegant utopian design. Now everything's stark, clinical, overly wooden, bright and utilitarian - back then, things had a softer, more comforting design.

>Reddit has the only furry community that's not autistic af.
>furry
>not autistic af

hmmm...

I still enjoy it quite a bit, the nostalgic feeling that a lot of it has makes it difficult to let go of as a genre. Even if it's produced a lot of shit, I can still go back and enjoy the good stuff just as well as when I first heard them.
Been listening to pic related a lot lately, it's a new personal favorite of mine and was a nice find among all the garbage flooding the genre.

We're no more autistic than Sup Forums, Sup Forums, Sup Forums, /r9k/, Sup Forums, /tg/ or /mlp/ at least

it ain't dead. Vaporwave is still my daily jam

That is a blatant lie and you know it. You're tied with /mlp/ at the bottom of the totem pole.

Anyone like Espirit/George Clanton?

Sorry mate brony music videos don't get 92 million hits like ours do
youtube.com/watch?v=UbQgXeY_zi4

only partially related, but i went to high school with the guy that wrote the Esquire article that image is from. he wanted to be a writer back then and was one of those kids that wouldn't shut up about On The Road and Naked Lunch -- which is fine, because being 16 is the appropriate age for that shit.

he normally links to all of his articles on fb so friends know when he's been published somewhere new. unsurprisingly, he did not broadcast to friends that he wrote this piece. teased him appropriately for writing what is basically a vaporwave explanation for Gen Xers who have no idea wtf kids are doing anymore. but if he can get paid to explain shitty meme music to middle aged folks, more power to him.

this is my shit right here boi

Even by your stupid standards, ponies still have you beat.
Now fucking apologize for making me taint my search history to prove you wrong like this.

>did the dream come and go within a year?
Dude vaporwave has been around for over half a decade already what are you talking about?

it came and then left for memers

That's a clip from the show, not an original creation. And our aesthetic is so much better than....whatever that is. Not to mention that unlike bronies, we are part of a very old fandom that has idolized hybrid beings for millennia.

It should have came and left for everybody because it's so shit

Underage people are not allowed to browse this website. Vaporwave is to us older folks a celebration of a past that has been otherwise completely erased from modern culture.

Things today are too sharp, too focused on stark hyperrealism. Back then, things had a dreamy feel to them. That's gone now, and the only fandom that gives a damn about how life was back then are the vaporwave community.

Only bad vaporwave is dead. You can't make a career out of sidechaining Japanese pop songs anymore.

...

>2015
Vaporwave is shitty, can we please move on?
>2017
Holy fuck mumble rap is awful, I miss vaporwave

wow you can really feel the distorted self image and delusion in this one

>using furries to defend yourself
You're only making it worse

youtube.com/watch?v=AO6CaqAH_K4&index=4&list=PLj7jWivTviX4giSf1Jh3RkVtXiymmEi1B

Listen to it at least once every week or so

people setting out to create a 'vaporwave' album in 2017 are generally too hung up on genre conventions and overarching ideas to create anything too interesting
however, i think the vaporwave sound has influenced other genres and artists in a way that we are yet to fully realise - rap; artists like mac demarco and homeshake; ambient

I just wish it was 1994 again.

>tfw I was ahead of the curve three years ago and nobody, NOBODY - NOT. ONE. SINGLE. Sup Forumstant EVER realized it, shitting on me for the "bad taste" they just hadn't developed yet
youtube.com/watch?v=bskgllx1F-4

Mallsoft is such a weird genre, the feeling of being alone in place made for people to be social is so weird.

T I M E I S R U N N I N G O U T

No, just no. You're a fucking freak

What's some good furrywave? I have Whitewoods - Beach Walk and PYROTOSH - 4 2 0 B E A C H W A L K but that's it

To me, that is the picture of heaven

Being the typical dudebro jock is soooooo 1973.

Holy shit I hope that doesn't come back in style, getting swirlied and pantsed by totally-not-gay meatheads would seriously suck.

alright I love this one tbqh

It's been dead for years man

People have been asking if vaporwave has been dead for half a decade now. its never actually showed signs of dying, its actually evolving into more genres.

wow i didn't know you could be this insecure about your taste is vaporwave... which is sad because you were also 2 years late to the vaporwave bandwagon

Got any recommendations?

The second repress of 新しい日の誕生 has just gone up on the Dream Catalog Bandcamp page.

dreamcatalogue.bandcamp.com/album/--18?token=EC-4NN71707CD517615T

The first pressing sold out really quickly so grab one while you can.

This is great fambreh. Thanks.

Hey man i remember u from the last thread.

this

Can anyone recommend anything with an "alone at night in a foreign city" kinda vibe?

2814 if i got it right. it reminds me of when i lived in japan with my new (now gf of 3 years).
i used to walk from the pizzeria they had in rain and it would always been raining, i felt that i was in a different world, to see the neon lights and the dark sky and rain all together. i felt like i was in some sort of cyberpunk future, yet it was modern day. it gave me the best feeling ever.

Not him but Hologram Plaza is the definitive mallsoft album and maybe one of my favorite themed albums in general. Yes! We're Open is a bit more out there but still a worthwhile listen.

I'm frankly amazed the second pressing preorders haven't sold out yet. I can only assume it's because the notice saying that the second pressing will be clearly labelled as such has deterred people.

Thanks man, coincidentally I was just listening to because the post piqued my interest.

Do you have any other recommendations?

Oh fucc, that's pretty good. Got any more recs?

011-017

Your "year" is actually the better part of a decade grampa

Different user, their most recent album Rain Temple has a much moodier and less ambient feel to it while still achieving a similar atmosphere.
If you're open to synthwave as well, the Nocturne City EP by Perturbator has a similar feel.

>grouping Sup Forums, Sup Forums, /r9k/, Sup Forums or /mlp/
I am sorry but just no. /tg/ is literally the most civil blue board, the only boards more civil are civil because posting anything but porn is not allowed. It is topical, active, fun, and so much less autistic than just any other one of these that the only reason why you could ever include it is because you are both grasping at straws, have never been to /tg/ any think fun is not allowed and autistic.

If Sup Forums was purged from existance this instant and I could choose only one board to survive, it would be /tg/ because it is the only really active and helpful and fun community of this kind.

Hologram Plaza, my dude.

I still listen to it sometimes.

this just made me remember I made 2 mallsoft tracks back then

weird times

amazing piece of work

>hk by hke

Thanks bro, this is excellent.

Do you have a download link for this? I can't seem to find it on Rutracker and Google searching isn't bringing much up.

Try "Hong Kong Express".

I've been bumping this shit lately, p dope

>within a year
Where have you been?

what year like 2013

I think I prefer this kinda thing to the found sound/plunderphonics stuff.

files.sq10.net/music/vaporwave/list/

pretty funky thanks

Thanks!

You have to be autistic as fuck to think that a choose your own adventure story being told about three inch tall $125 miniatures that you have to glue together and paint yourself is fun, especially when every sentence of the story is stopped by a bunch of algebra problems and protractor measurements.

Source: I am none other than Ferendhil Rashnagidek the Blood Tiefling, at the service of you and your keep. I presume ylu have heard of some of my adventures? It matters not, for I can assure you that I meant nothing ill of grouping /tg/ in with other factions of autism, for as an avid RPG player myself I know all too well what it means to play a traditional game. Those 46 dice, pens, ledgers and measuring tapes aren't just for show, after all.
