I collect records

>i collect records

>I only listen to music digitally

epic thread

What does a CD collector look like then?

CD is the patrician choice

>you're back

CD is the worst. Its literally digital but without the convenience. Digital>Vinyl>Cassette>CD

>this thread again
fucking epic dude

As someone who buys vinyl and CD, I'd say the CD collector is a pretty sensible, normal person, though they are commonly mislead about CD being unconditionally better than vinyl in the sound department.

Tapes are the only way to go

>I'm dumb so I'm gonna lie to you so no one notices how dumb I am

If you can't appreciate a tangible physical copy with the artwork and booklet, or enjoy the ritual of playing a physical copy, then you're an underage pleb

This

Vinyl is great for exactly that, its an experience. Hipsters have ruined that

>hipsters have ruined that

How? Why do you give a shit about what hipsters are doing? Hipsters have never once entered my mind when I get comfy and plop that needle down.

This. In my case, a lot of the CDs I buy have extremely detailed session information which can't be found online.

It's the Sup Forums disease to think that once something becomes popular or mainstream, you can no longer enjoy it yourself

>Some people I don't like are also enjoying something I enjoy :(((

What, are they bursting into your house every time you try to play a record? Fuck off

...

>I'm a casual music fan, who cares about liner notes and insight from the artist!

You need to go back. Reddit is much more suitable for spotify subscribers.

So what do you do when there's no digital versions available for a record you want to listen to?

You buy it

Yes, you buy the record...

>He's a NEET who doesn't have other hobbies

If its something sufficiently obscure that I literally can't find a digital rip anywhere at all then I'll generally go for the CD.

In any case, other people will own the hardware to rip a vinyl.

>listening to music
>not making music

AAAAAAAAAAARGH

I'm literally saying in the instance where there is no other version of the record other than the vinyl and there are no rips.

Yeah fuck me right for having an interest in music

Then rip it yourself.

You're an idiot.

OP says it's stupid to collect records.
I'm saying it's not stupid to collect records because one example being there are many records that exist where there exists no other version of it. Why would I rip a record when I already own a copy of it and can listen to it?

I'm a real patrician. I download DSD versions from HDtracks and other snake oil salesmen.

>That's fantastic that you're passionate about cardboard and listening to music on multi colored plastic You're a collector of rare vinyl, a total fanatic, that's completely absolutely hip, motherfucking fantastic, But I'm more concerned with how I feel

If you want to listen to it when you're away from home? I thought that was the entire point you were making, kek

>I'm OP and everything I do is 100% justified and I've never wasted a dime in my life.

>Cassette
>Above anything

And they say vinyl users are the hipsters, jesus christ...

So you guys just don’t buy an album if it isn’t on your favorite format?

I have tapes, vinyl, and CD’s. I prefer tapes but if there isn’t a tape I’m perfectly happy getting anything else

I dont even use Cassette, it still makes more sense than CD though
