will schweini make chicago great again?
Nathaniel Butler
Chicago was actually quite good at the CM position before Basti came, so it's a puzzling move. I think the biggest benefit is that he'll sell tickets and shirts and make the team temporarily relevant in a crowded sports market
Cameron Cruz
nah did u see the questions chicago sports writers asked him today?
it was like "do you hope this move will help you play for germany again" "can you win the world cup with the fire?"
Nathan Adams
Depends. The big concern is that he spent his career at Bayern, and its usually the one club guys that struggle the most in MLS. He's also gonna have the league's bruisers going for his ankles, so gonna be hard to stay healthy.
Ethan Cooper

Chicago has no good CM. At least with Schweini he might be able to do something.

Replace Cincy with Sacramento
Jonathan White
>It Already Happened >It Happened Already
Leo Allen
MLS already said they won't put two teams in California during this wave of expansion.
Now that San Diego got their shit together and have Donovan backing the project, I don't see how Sac gets a team over San Diego. Especially with the Chargers gone.
Benjamin Fisher
Can Minnesota be relegated for the season and just appear again when LAFC enters MLS?
Liam Jenkins
>won't put two teamas in Cali >literally Galaxy and LAFC
Who taught you math
Ryan Harris

Yes, until someone's shitty turf field makes an impact on his ankles
Kayden Kelly
No No matter how good he plays, his acquisition doesn't solve any of their problems

someone that used to be respected like tannenwald now unironically posts updates from women UCL matches
MLS is the only league wher emost of the news doesnt come from actual media (Cause in reality no one cares, even a little bit, about MLS news except like 10 guys on twitter) but from some kind of state-sponsored north korea-like dictatorship news service which tries to tear down players they dont like

When will owners realize that throwing a NWSL team into the mix doesn't really matter to the majority of fans?
Robert Williams
desu i think theyre banking on womens soccer becoming bigger in the future, in the same way as with MLS you want to invest early at minimal cost and then sell for major profit later
Wyatt Cook
>womens soccer becoming bigger in the future The WNBA hasn't really gotten any bigger since its inception. I don't know where anyone's getting this idea that woso is going to become a big thing. There have been what, 3 different woso leagues that started and folded within the past 5 years?
Aaron Reed
We had a women's team here before, but it folded because of crummy ownership....the attached men's team AC St Louis did not last much longer
Nathaniel Scott
NWSL is now starting up their 5th season of play, which is longer than either of their two predecessors managed It may not grow to any grandiose heights, but I don't think it's going anywhere And the days of being embarrassingly named/sponsored like that stupid MagicJack team are over
Is it worth the expense? I think NWSL salaries are partially subsidized by USSF but there's no TV money, no merch sales to speak of, and low attendance.
Andrew White
Salaries for NT players are paid by the USSF They're at least trying on the TV money front, weekly games on the (sigh) Lifetime Channel
James Lopez
>>As of 2016, teams receive a salary cap of $278,000, up from $265,000 in 2015 and $200,000 in 2013. The salaries of allocated players from the United States, Canadian, and Mexican national teams are paid by their respective federations and do not count against the salary cap. Non-allocated players earn a minimum of $7,200 and a maximum of $39,700, up from $6,842 and $37,800 in 2015 and $6,000 and $30,000 in 2013. >>a minimum of $7,200 >>$7,200

They probably have second jobs for when they don't have practice or games. A lot of players in meme pro leagues like NLL have secondary jobs too
Joshua Howard
>Crew traded for Kek Man Wait what
What happens to the Rams' old stadium now, anyway? The STL expansion guys would suddenly have a case if they were able to rent the thing or just squat there
Matthew Brooks
>Sounders linked to Paraguay international Derlis Gonzalez
Brandon Hernandez
A) The field is not big enough for a regulation soccer pitch; they did hold a friendly match between Real Madrid and Inter Milan once, but that was just a friendly B) It's a dome, so obviously the surface is turf, and that goes over so well with everyone C) The necessary modifications to change/fix the above would cost at LEAST as much as a new SSS anyhow D) Dome has 60K+ seats, will look/feel/sound empty even if half-full E) With the Rams gone, the Dome is now free to host all sorts of other events for the fall/winter, which is projected to make it MORE profitable than when it was hosting football games
