MF DOOM vs Kanye

who is the ultimate rapper/producer?

I would've said Kanye earlier, but I just got all of special herbs and it's unbelievable

kanye shits all over doom when it comes to production, the other way around when rapping
special herbs is a fucking meme, it's fucking lo-fi chillhop beats for studying nujabes type shit jfc

As much as I hate to say it I think Kanye may be the better producer (at least his early 04-05 stuff)

agreed, but I think special herbs as producing is 7/10, while kanye rapping is 7/10 at best and recently closer to 5/10

doom rapping is 9/10 and ye beats are 8.5/10

No point even discussing production, but Kanye is definitely a better rapper too. DOOM is boring as fuck sometimes but Kanye is fun to listen to.

>Kanye is definitely a better rapper too

cite one (1) verse where Kanye raps well and I can name 5 where DOOM is better

mr hudson - supernova

Oh they got it all you can see they got it all
They got the cars the boat and the beautiful house by the shore
And you know there's more
But I can't take another minute of it at all
He wants his kids and the dog
He wants his breakfast in bed
He's got his trust fund saved
Not a worry in his head
It's not you homie
I wanna break up the scene and see you running back to me

vs

Tripping off the beat kinda, dripping off the meat grinder
Heat niner, pimping, stripping, soft sweet minor
China was a neat signer, trouble with the script
Digits double dipped, bubble lipped, subtle lisp midget
Borderline schizo, sort of fine tits though
Pour the wine, whore to grind, quarter to nine, let's go
Ever since ten eleven, glad she made a brethren
Then it's last down, seven alligator seven, at the gates of heaven
Knocking, no answer, slow dancer, hopeless romancer, dopest flow stanzas

other four:
Raid - madvillainy
that's that - born like this
rapp snitch knishes - mm...food
the drop - vaudeville villain

>i wonder if her pussy lived

>but Kanye is definitely a better rapper too.

Even the biggest Kanye stans I know wouldn't say this.
Kanye has always been a producer man.
He's a good lyricist. And I wouldn't even call him a mediocre rapper at best.
But DOOM is way better.

I would 100% rather hear Kanye West harmonising in autotune than MF Doom trying to lyrical miracle me to death.

your personal disdain for that style aside, DOOM's rapping shows much, much greater technical proficiency and talent than Kanye's, which is what the thread is about

define technical proficiency

greatest amount of rhymes bar to bar while maintaining a coherent theme, flowing naturally, flow change ups, which doom does well.

doom also injects a lot of creativity into his rhymes, like skipping words that WOULD rhyme for a joke, or coming up with a clever story/theme

Gorgeous
Can't tell me nothing
No more parties in LA
Gone

For a more emotional side of things (a style that doom can even come close to)

Hey mama
Last call
Runaway
Roses
Real Friends
Hold my Liquor

Doom doesn't know how to express emotion through rapping. His only skill is advanced rhyming and he only has one flow. Kanye is emotionally deep, more entertaining, and knows how to change flows.

You should read this

*Can't even come close to

ok, but being emotionally deep isn't a technical skill. you being emotionally invested in Kanye's stories doesn't make it better rapping. on the other hand, you can simply read doom verses and understand that this is someone who is deeply connected to rap and the art of rhyming

also
>Doom doesn't know how to express emotion through rapping
>he only has one flow

do you even listen to doom? or are you just blindly defending kanye

>Doom doesn't know how to express emotion through rapping.

additionally, I would say that DOOM's use of ritardando, alliteration, extended metaphor, alter-egos, third person storytelling, slant rhymes, and assonance all solidly place him above kanye lyrically. you could almost say that kanye's dependence on emotion and charisma IS one dimensional.

I will never rate a producer who has not made a single top 10 hit.

The bottomline is Kanye > Doom.

Being able to invoke emotion in listeners in definitely a skill.
