Maybe this guy will help you. iI's quite easy as it looks, but it's takes time and patience.
You don't need to spend as much as you do. Everyone buys things they could not buy.
Save up money. Set yourself a minimum saving goal per paycheck and set that money aside so you don't spend it — preferrably in a term deposit or somewhere like that where you simply cannot spend it.
Build enough savings to last you three or four months without a job at least.
After that, you'll have a great bargaining chip — you *can* afford to lose your job, so you aren't subject to your employers' whims with no recourse. Try to negotiate a better salary or find a better job.
More money, more savings; rinse, lather, repeat. Once your income exceeds your expenditures, you've broken the cycle and you're on your way to building up financial stability.
1. Socialize with people with good jobs.
2. Utilize your network to find a higher-paying job - one which more than covers your basic expenses.
3. Make a budget which minimizes your expenses and allows you to save some of your income.
4. Save some of your income for investments of some type (stocks, bonds, CDs).
5. Congratulate yourself on no longer living paycheck to paycheck.
>3. Make a budget which minimizes your expenses and allows you to save some of your income.
The first step to this is to keep a monthly expense report on yourself and this is where you have to be brutally, BRUTALLY honest about your spending. Keep track of every penny going out and carry a small notepad to record your transactions if needed. You can lose a good chunk of change from many small transactions ($10 or less) because your brain doesn't register that a great amount of money is being spent.
save money, get a welding certificate, make 25-30/hr. Be a normal joe blow.
Go apply to be cnc operator, make 14 an hour, make 20 an hour in 2 years. Be a normal joe blow.
Go work in a pill factory, mix the powder, time the drop machines, make 15/hr, become a manger in 5 years making 20/hr. Be a normal joe blow.
Stop applying to retail places, buy a suit, practice interviewing, do something where you learn something everyday.
Stop having wine tastes and a beer budget. Opt out of the culture of consumerism you were raised in.

This. My brother did this while he was at university, long time ago now, told me to do the same. So I did.
I was the only student that could afford shit without taking a penny off of my parents. I'm still in decent spending habits and have nice things!
Don't be a pleb. The first step is to take responsibility. Responsibility in the form of a spreadsheet and no excuses.
It's tempting to assume that simply because you have enough income to cover your expenses, that everyone does, and that the world just needs a budget and some willpower. In my experience it's rarely the case. Most often it's because they're in a job that doesn't pay enough to live on.
Another approach is to try to defray expenses somehow - if you're in or near an urban area, for example, finding a roommate...
It really is amazing how much you spend in small transactions, though.
I once kept a record out of idle curiosity. I wrote down literally every cent; even roundoffs. 20% of my money at least was spent in very small purchases I wouldn't have paid attention to otherwise.
Avoid something called lifestyle inflation. I suffer from it, despite having increased my income 5 times. You need financial discipline. There's a good book that talks about it called The Richest Man In Babylon, but here's the gist of it:
10 percent of all you earn is yours to keep.
Whenever you get some money, set 10% aside and don't touch it. Think of it as if it's not there. It does wonders in the long term.
Earn more, spend less, invest smart and educate yourself. Teach yourself how to analyze and buy stocks or ETFs. Earn Dividents, re-invest and understand the prociple of compound interest. There is plenty of financial information on youtube and there are also lots of good books:
> "Rich Dad, poor Dad" Kiyosaki
> "The intelligent investor" Graham
> "One up on Wallstreet" Lynch
i like to keep track of stuff like this by thinking of expenses by the year
I saved $1k/year by drinking water more instead of bottled drinks
Get a financial advisor, start a savings fund, put away a little bit of money every shitty pay cheque that you won’t even notice missing.
In my experience, it's because people make shitty decisions and try to live a lifestyle they can't afford.
I lived on minimum wage. What that meant was a studio (bachelor suite) apartment, riding the bus and walking instead of owning a car, eating like a poor Asian peasant and never eating out or getting fast food, not having cable, not having a cell phone (land line though), cheapest internet option, no drinking, no smoking, no drugs, etc.

The moment "investment" advisors pop up, these threads go to shit. Harsh reality kids - unless you have a 5 figure sum to set aside for investing, inflation is going to chew through all the little profits you may be making. Stocks are the worst investment possible if you're low on dough, it's a jewish scam meant to appeal to losers that want to get rich quickly. Never gamble more than you can afford to lose. If you're living paycheck to paycheck, you can't afford anything, period.
Note that I'm not suggesting a budget and willpower aren't essential - they are - but until you are earning more than your basic expenses, a budget isn't going to help as much as a job change...
try getting into a company were you can get better positions over time => more money. Other than that, only getting an education of some sorts.. but that costs money in the states..
Where do you live that you can afford to live alone in an apartment, food, transportation, and *internet* on minimum wage? I advise people move there...
This was in Winnipeg, MB from 1998-2001. I made $6/hr which translated into a bit less than $700/month.
Earn more than you're spending?
Seems pretty simple to me.
Stop spending money on stupid shit you don't need, save up at least 3 months worth of bills in savings and don't touch it.
Improve your skillset and find a job that will pay you decently, you may have to take an entry level position and work your way up which can take several years.
Okay folks, I revise my plan - step 1, move to Winnipeg circa 1998.
Step 1 - reading comprehension. I said I ~LIVED~, as in PAST TENSE.
And you wanna know something? I could STILL do it where I'm living now. As I said, you don't get to live a fancy life but you have somewhere to make food and sleep which is basic existence.
Most people that I hear talking about living paycheck to paycheck at pack/rack a day smokers/drinkers. They still go out partying with friends. They still buy "good food". They still drop bills on otherwise useless unessential shit.
If you have a job, a high school diploma, and are unburdened by children you're fucking golden. Even minimum wage workers can live in a comfy state of bliss in 90% of all U.S. cities.

I think he was more going about setting up a portfolio, not play the stock game
Hey, if you can do it, that's great - like I said, if there's a place you can do that, then that's a good first step to drive down expenses. But here's the thing - can you do it with debt? With medical expenses? Or is it a lifestyle you can live only if you have no other obligations and are lucky enough not to get sick or into an accident? and can you save enough money to build up a savings account against future unexpected expenses?
I've had a number of friends who lived on minimum wage for a time, but they had to rely on friends if they got sick or God forbid had to go to the hospital, and without help they couldn't get out of that situation - they needed a better job to do that. Several of them had to dumpster-dive to make ends meet. Some of them had children to care for. They weren't wasting money on stupid shit like cigarettes and coffee, they had expenses beyond the basic needs and had to borrow money to make it through some weeks, which only made things worse.
Some people can live on minimum wage without going into debt - those people are fucking lucky. Don't assume it works for everyone.
If you're working a minimum wage shit job it's very hard. But basically:
>cut expenses, live stoic, yes this is fucking boring
>don't make kids, don't get a car or get only a shitbox if you have to
>start saving up anything you can
>look for a better paying job while working your shitty job, try your best to meet lots of people and thereby "network" if possible
If you already have kids and a leechy wife you are beyond saving, just kill yourself
Also to add
Even if you manage to scrooge up couple of 10's of dollars, live without debt, retire at age X, et cetera, you might get hit by a bus or your investments might go to shit and you live bitter or die having done nothing at all
yeah that works as long as someone finds out what you are doing without paying tax etc and then you are fucked.
this entire thread is full of trust fund cancer

Get born rich. Borrow more money than you are worth. Lose all the money, go bankrupt, then, because of you being born rich, borrow in a double-down way. Enjoy the time you are given to work with the money. When it comes to the last days of a project, move all money to a new project and shitcan the old project after it's done... just before your employees' payday. Pay lawyer retainer while employees go broke suing you and drop it, still cheaper than paying them. Brag about being a self-made rich guy.
Buy/build your self a still. Get good copper piping.
Make some shine. Learn how to make spiced up shine, pear and peach always work.
Buy cheap but pretty bottles/jars (bulk from China etc) . Start selling.
1200 bucks a month for me after expenses from just my shine.
Takes a few hours off my weekends but it's worth it.
Saved up nearly 120k in the past 11 years.
>Everyone buys things they could not buy.
No. This is my situation.
>pay rent
>pay electricity and internet
>pay phone bill
>buy cheapest food I can (Lidl/Aldi etc)
Then I'm broke.
as a fellow ausfag... how can you afford that. i work 40 hours a week, bringing in 700-800 a week. Rent would be half of that. Bills, food etc would be atleast 200 a week. I would never have money to get anything, never be able to afford new pc parts, unexpected car issues, let alone saving up for shit like a new car or home loan. I just dont get it..
>socialize
And that's where your carefully crafted plan failed for me.
escape neoliberal turbocapitalism
Well, I tried...
this might be one of the gayest pics ive seen in a while.
congrats user.
And what's a portfolio of pennies going to do? I have a portfolio of payday loans with full buyback options giving me effective yearly ROI of 12.44%. I "invested" 500$, which gives me a whooping profit of 62.20$ per year. Around 40 dollars after taxes, I feel so rich right now! Wow. Amazing. 40 dollars per year. Now I can sit back, relax and see my money working for me.
>live cheaply, get a small apartment
>don't own a car, rent one if needed
>skip public transportation, buy a bicycle
>price check before buying, there is always something cheaper
>buy food in bulk, a 5 kg bag of rice is cheaper than several 0.5 kg bags
>make sure all your contracts (phone, internet etc)are as cheap as possible
>don't buy drinks/beer at the pubs
>don't eat out, cook instead
>don't smoke
I earn 1250 per month and save 300 every month. No problems. 3 meals per day, still get drunk and party etc.
>Live with roommates in shit apartment
>Diet mostly rice, beans, chicken, and shitty cuts of beef cooked in slow cooker
It's literally that easy. I have thousands in savings and can afford whatever fun thing I want to do. People just hate putting in effort to live with other people and cook food.
I make a little over 100k a year... I live paycheck to paycheck
Be single. make your lunch every day.
Reduce expenses.
Stop buying shit that you don't need and/or get a better job.
Apply to positions that pay more than minimum wage. Look into the trade industry or casinos. The worst that happens is you get denied. Put some fucking minimal effort into it and you can make $15 an hour easy peasy. That's enough to live in a one bed apartment and own a vehicle and still save money (excluding faggot areas like San Fran or NYC)
You need nuggets dawg.
Get out of the city. Commute.
>buy a bicycle
This is pretty much all you need to do.
Sold my car, got my self a mtb/street bike hybrid.
Got a 35 minute ride to work (took 45 minute with a car btw).
Save around 500 bucks per month plus the service costs etc that a car needs.
Also lost my belly and tits. Feel a lot better.
This. Move to Cuba or North Korea.
Any good trades you recommend?
