Why isn't there relegation in American sports? Why are American sports teams rewarded for losing and finishing last?

Why isn't there relegation in American sports? Why are American sports teams rewarded for losing and finishing last?

Because otherwise the owners would just move the club to somewhere else and declare them to have "never been relegated"

wtf i hate america now

>teams
>clubs

they're franchises tho

Nothing wrong with a bit of socialism here and there buddy

Why do American teams move cities on a whim? Don't their lifelong fans care?

there is, its called 'moving to LA'

American leagues aren't socialist. They're hyper capitalist for the owners by guaranteeing they make a profit and don't have to face the business problems of relegation and inflated wages with salary caps. Euro leagues redistribute wealth to the players.

>implying owners care about fans
They only care about getting money

cuz americans suck lol

>redistribute wealth to the players

I hope one day you will realize how stupid you were in the moment you decided to click on "Submit"

>"American leagues aren't socialist"
>the share of money is divide equally regardless of success

Because that's what benefits the capitalist owners not the workers

You just described socialism.

Is this the power of British education?

Socialism =/= the government owns everything and everything must always be equal. Ever heard of co-operatives?

>Americans will defend this

>Because that's what benefits the bureucrats not the workers

sounds like socialism

>redistribute wealth
you mean it's an open system with competition which increases the demand for workers. There's no central "redistribution", Messi earns thousands of times more than the average soccer player.

Franchises.
>being this dumb

Is this still going ahead?

Because every fucking village and hamlet doesn't have a god damn team.

How pathetic. And you call yourselves a sporting nation.

>land of the 'free'

No professional sports league in the USA splits all profits equally among teams, don't know where you heard that.

Some league will pool all merchandising sales of jerseys etc. from the official league website or something, so even if the NFL sells 2 million Brady jerseys a year and less than 100 total Browns jerseys, the Browns will still get an equal portion of the sale money. They also get equal cuts of the TV deals the league makes.

But each individual team keeps all their ticket and stadium concession money, as well as any individual advertising or sponsorship money they can acquire. A well run team will still make a huge profit, and a shitty run team will still fail financially.

We have collegiate athletics instead of major second-tier professional leagues. While there is no relegation, the NBA, MLB, and MLS (sort of) have minor leagues, the NFL is going to try a minor league soon. Dunno about the NHL. Collegiate athletics are vastly more popular in America than the Championship in England or the Serie B in Italy, etc.

mls is a minor league

>According to a survey conducted by Harris Interactive, around 47 percent of Americans follow college sports. Almost 31 million have attended a college sports event in 2016. The most popular sports amongst spectators include men’s college football and men’s college basketball.

Ain't no way half of England watches the Championship. Half of England probably doesn't even watch the Premier League. Also, professional soccer is only a few years older than collegiate football. College sports are more popular than professional sports here.

That's

>quoting without a source

I won't. I find it disgusting, and I like the British system where teams are intrinsically part of their locale.

What club in the Championship can fill 100k+ capacity stadiums at every single game?

>Socialism is policies
Why does this meme keep getting pushed

>Suns, Nets, Lakers and Sixers all get relegated
>Maine 'Crustacean Nation' Red Claws go up and destroy everyone

Would be fuggin hilarious. Actually, I want relegation now.
