This needs to be discussed. Since the Bison and Bald eagle are America's national mammal and bird. What's America's fish?

My first choice is obviously the large mouth bass because it can be found throughout the country and at every state. The second is the salmon. What does Sup Forums think? Which fish should be the national fish?

The great American hybrid bass, senpai. Most fun you'll ever have fishing in your life.

where do you catch those? I live in commiefornia and I have never seen one, but have caught striped bass. There is no limit to the small ones.

>What's America's fish?

Obv it should be a shark because they are badass and cool

I think it should be Megalodon

MO, AR, KY, IL area. They have to be stocked every season, but they are fun as hell man. If you ever get a chance to come out here I recommend Greers Ferry lake in AR in October/November. They put up a fight man and tend to be top water as their schooling/preying pattern pushes the shad up to the top of the water. Look for where the water looks like its boiling and there you'll find em

not that commiefornian, but I'll be sure to do that man thanks for the info

>not trout.

Fucking blasphemy.

After trout it would be Salmon (if salmon bemoaned as numerous as in the past it would win easily)

Read "The President's Salmon"

I ate some Salmon today. Good stuff.

MUSKIE.
MUSKIE OR ALLIGATOR GAR.

Wow, none of you are at all educated in freshwater fishing in the US. Yes, our national fish should be the largemouth bass. Every continental state has them. They produce a multi-billion dollar industry. Are none of you following the Elite Series? These guys have the potential to make hundreds of thousands of dollars chasing them around the country.

I thought I'd be on tour with them by now, but life kicked me in the ass. The Californians who have no idea what lives in their state makes me almost rage. The next world record will be caught in California. Actually, unofficially, the world record has been caught in California. Technicalities, and the desire for the anglers who caught the fish to keep it alive made it so the record remained in Georgia and Japan.

I'm well-versed in bass fishing, ask me anything. Fucking people and your lack of knowledge of tournament bass fishing.

Muskie are great fun to fish for, and well worth dedicating your time and effort. However, there are only relatively few states that have any real Muskie fishing. Not nearly as popular as bass fishing.

>Brook trout is winning.

Fucking right it is.

Brook trout? Seriously? I hate this fucking planet.

>and Japan.
I'm moving to Tokyo this year and have been looking into fishing there. Apparently I don't even need a license. Where are all the monster fish at in Japan?

Butthurt LMB faggot.brook trout natice habitat covers the largest area of the nation than any other fish. They can live anywhere LMB can live, and in a myriad of settings the LMB can't live in.

It's not competitive because it's defined as more of an art than a sport to fish for them.

It's an American art, which has influences from Asia and eastern Europe. It is the most artful, and American sporting that one can involve themselves in.

Lmb fishing is for smirking jocks in khaki slacks.

nobody likes sore losers

I fish the CA delta from shore because poor fag ad catch them with money minnows. What are the best lures use for heavily fished areas, mostly rocky area?

Several of their major lakes and reservoirs have largemouth bass. They are actually considered an invasive species. They thrive there, though, and in the last couple years the biggest largemouth ever caught came from one of their lakes. Hold on, I'll give you specifics in a second.

>They are actually considered an invasive species. They thrive there,
I am literally erect right now.

Japan's still has a fishery?

I think he is talking about 'wipers'. They are a hybrid of white band striped bass, I believe.

Absolute horseshit. Are brook trout going to survive in the southeast? In the southwest? No, they're not. Brook trout are native to northern states, and only a select group of people target them. Try again.

How does it feel to know about something nobody gives two fuck about

>there are plebs on Sup Forums RIGHT NOW that have never gone snook fishing before

I was gonna say Northern Pike or Muskie.

I'm leaning towards muskie, they are an extremely bad ass fish. One of the hardest fish to catch, as well.

>thats not a rainbow trout

Why the fuck are there a bunch of fisher dads on Sup Forums

I'm 25 and I've been fishing since I was 8. If you don't fish, you're not a man.

Those are not real bass. They are mutant bass. Large Mouth Bass are real Bass. I can assure you, they fight better and jump higher too.

Bass do not need to be stocked, only mutant ones. You have shown your true colours. Keep those mutant fish in your shitty polluted area.

I give more than two fucks about it, and so do lots of other people. It may be a niche, but it's pretty popular in certain regions.

Bird: Eagle
Fish: Also eagle

There is no fish - only more Freeagle

They do have habitats in those regions. In the same sense that LMB have habitats in northeast regions (literally not native to some north east states.

Everyone targets trout.

Go to the mountains, bring a cane pole. Have fun.

Nice rainbow!

If you guys don't browse /out/ join us in the fishing general. If you want to crash the threads, ask OPs question haha.

I have a YouTube that isn't anything great but it points to a collection of /out/ist that fish. Look up North East Fishing and Exploration.

We just call em hybrid bass down here.
Fun fish , keep landlocked non-breeding striper fisheries afloat by taking pressure off of them.
Lake Thurmond is all mostly stocked striped bass.
Not enough water movement for the eggs to become viable.

>largemouth at 5th

Fun fact. There are more bald eagles in Canada than the US.
Mother spotted a half dozen not too long ago too. So they're having a good year. Plenty of new hatchlings.

Great, let me know how your Florida brook trout adventure goes.

You sound like a miserable faggot but I agree with the large mouth vote. Stripers and hybrids are fun as hell but not as plentiful as the large mouth.

Is freshwater fishing for sport or food one of the most non-degenerate things in the entire world

Oohh wow one state!

I'm in Vermont, not far from you. You're out of your league in this conversation.

It is the purest pleasure there is. You do not need to kill the fish if you are not hungry either and they do not feel a simple hole in their mouth.

That's an American fish right there

The lure looks like a brook trout

Not miserable, pissed off. Pissed off when people try to talk about things they know nothing about, as evidenced in this thread.

Jesus Christ man, do you go to every board looking for fishing threads?

sand shark

There are more of any type of animal here as well. The only thing we do not have is gators. We also do not have mutant fucking bass like this Americans.

It should be some type of bass, probably largemouth since it's the most popular and caught everywhere.

Pro bass fishing is cool, but in today's day and age it's all a about the money, just like everything else.

Fishing, to me, is about getting together with your family and enjoying the beautiful nature at the lake. It's about a father or grandfather teaching his children/grandchildren the art of fishing.

Nothing beats having a few cold beers on the water with good company, relaxing, cooking up your catch next to the campfire and enjoying life in a way many people have forgotten about. It's nice to get the fuck out of the city and reconnect with nature.

>brook trout
>nigger trout is winning

Mud shark?

I just caught some of those bitches not three hours ago.

Also Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Georgia, and probably more. Can you find a river in a few of those states that contains brook trout? Probably in low numbers. Not nearly enough of a population to claim that they have brook trout fishing. Find a state without at least one good largemouth lake. I'll wait. Alaska and Hawaii don't count, even though Hawaii has largemouth in some waters.

Carp = niggerbass

Literally an all-freshwater shark big enough to threaten humans and beautifully, beautifully colored.

Nah I only browse Sup Forums /k/ and /out/

I honestly don't think brookies are America's fish. I just like busting the LMB googan balls. My honest opinion though is the American Shad. It is very much ingrained in American history.

That's great, I think that is the heart and soul of fishing. I don't mean to be an elitist about this, but I have basically dedicated my life to bass fishing. In the near future it will be paying my bills. I just get insulted when people try to tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about, when I most definitely do. I've been around the block a few times.

There's something instinctual about fishing. I think every man has the desire to pursue wild game, the strength of that desire speaks a lot to a man's character. Any male who has never caught a fish and killed a large wild animal may as well be considered a woman.

Smug fly fisherman aren't any better than the LMB nerds fishing in a $40k boat dressed in pro bass fisherman garb when in reality they are a weekend warrior.

People who poo on other forms of fishing just because they know how to fly fish are just as faggy.

Sup Forums answering all the important questions.

liberals hate touching fish. I went on a charter boat in the bay area and the libs were too afraid to touch the live anchovies. They often dropped them on the ground and were too afraid to unhook their catch.

>niggerbass
KEK I'm using this from now on.

>Making a living bass fishing.
>Being a googan

Sorry won't happen.

Steelhead or Red drum

They fight like a son of a bitch. I've heard they taste pretty good too.

>Imblying I strictly flyfish. I spinfish more often desu senpai

>googan
Not even CLOSE to a googan. I'm the opposite, and I know freshwater fishing better than I know anything else. Making a living is going to be a challenge, but I possess all the necessary skills, and many others are doing it right now.

This

>Weekend warrior.

I fish everyday of my life.

Everyday

This.

Real men fish.

>freshwater

That's pretty degenerate.

I. Just busting your balls man. It's awesome to share the dream of making a living from fishing with someone. I'm working on becoming a guide as we speak.

Best of luck man. You can achieve that dream.

Hey man, no hard feelings here. I wish I knew more people in my personal life that shared the passion that I have. You seem to know what's up. I'm sorry for arguing with you.

I would probably rather fry up Bream that are about 4-5" than anything else. If you get them a little brown you can eat the bones and all. Way better than catfish.

Fried roe is a big food in my area. Do other places eat this? The only reason I ask is because when some people have visited they thought it was strange.

you mean catfish. There was this black guy called sunny that used to fish near a boat launching dock. There were trees and a bench he used to sit at every single day. I used to fish there and he used dough baits and caught stringers of catfish and carp. He ended up dying from cancer, the river he fished at had signs that said don't eat the fish. He ate them every single day.

Haha nah man it's just good bantz

We wuz guides an sheeeiiitttt

You guys should meet up and fuck some fish together or something.

>tfw OLN got canceled
those were the days, in fisherman, bill dance, and Tred Barta

This. Dubs don't lie, either.

I haven't fucked any fish before, but based on a webm I've seen here, carp are the best choice for sexual relations.

Gefilte fish

Just don't go balls deep.

I don't know, those kids seemed to be enjoying it.

>Nah I only browse Sup Forums /k/ and /out/
Same here.

Anyone else like bow rigs?

I'm 20 and fished my whole life. Knowing how to turn sticks and string into meat is one of the manliest things you can know.

Senpai, where the fuck is my list of places to catch monster bass in nippon?

Also, lots of New England bros here. I'm stuck in Cambridge for work now, so not much fishing here, but I'm going trout fishing at Wood River in south county RI this weekend with my buddies.

Large mouth dont fight at all compared to Stripe/White bass hybrid

I like it when they kill the people using them.

snook fight harder than both tbqh

Jack Crevalle rape them both, pound for pound the toughest fighter in the ocean

That's a small mouth bass.

>muh largemouth

Yeah I see them flying around a couple times a year.

>muh smallmouth

Likes fighting the elusive black trouser trout

hurting animals is for faggots with tiny penises

im not gay
