'Usually' anime implies it being in a japanese artstyle. Making something in that style popular in the west would certainly be interesting to see. Not impossible

The term "anime" is simply short for animation. In the rest of the world we use it to describe strictly Japanese animated series, while Japan uses it to describe ANY animated series. We made the distinction because Japanese animation is unique comparatively.

Simply because that is the default.
If you want to specifically speak about western cartoons I'd usually make it clear by saying 海外アニメ oversea's anime/ western anime

I'm not here for a debate. I even agreed with what you said. What I'm saying is that while in Japan "anime" can refer to any animation, unless you precise that it is overseas animation(cartoon), people will assume you are talking about Japanese style anime.

The novel (obviously) has more character depth. I even find that the anime tried to make Aisaka Taiga fit in the tsundere mold a bit more then need... I still love both, though. No anime = no music + no seiyuu
