yamir.bandcamp.com/ >noise rock, experimental rock >ambient, spacey reverb stuff with guitars and every sine wave imaginable >also a microhouse EP laying around for some reason
I haven't posted in one of these threads in awhile, but I recently released a new album that I would like to share. Download is free, of course. I think it is also on RYM, so don't hesitate to give it a rating. I could use more feedback.
This is awesome, I'm really enjoying it, but I am a bit of a sucker for ambient post-rock. That being said, I dig how experimental it is, and it's lofi quality. I'll have to watch the video when I get on the computer. I used to listen to hip hop a lot when I was younger, but I haven't properly revisited the genre in years - so I don't really know what Im talking about. But I love the beat and I like your voice (in a music way). Some of the better downtempo/trip hop type stuff I've heard. Wish I had more to say but I'm not very familiar with the genre. The recording quality isn't even bad. What did you use to record it? It sounds pretty good. I like the guitar fills a lot. The noisy guitar parts are totally killer. I'm not that big of a fan of the singing style/delivery, but that's coming from a guy who howls into a microphone and calls them "vocals".
>alternative hip hop, trip hop, rap rock > very lyrical, genre bending, complex rhyming, old school aesthetic

Awesome! Thanks, man. I'm using a Martin DSR1, a Samson C01 (not the usb version) through a UX2 interface into Reaper. I scooped the mids a bit, applied some flanger and delay, slapped a limiter on my voice, and that's it.
I think that it's okay for the most part, definitely dark and unsettling, vocals are good for the most part, guitars do a great job in terms of textures and whatnot, not so crazy about some of the more melodic parts, but the biggest issue for me are the drums. I'm no stranger to synthetic drums in BM, I do encourage them (BAN is a great example), but the tone is just off, they don't sit well in the mix, and the programming is pretty basic. It's a decent effort, but I think it could've been executed better, at least in my opinion. It's nice to see black metal projects floating around here. Feels pretty minimal compared to the original (which is very grand), but that's not really a bad thing, it certainly does justice. New video is bitchin'. Ameziane EP is one of my favorite gems I've stumbled upon on these threads, but I do recommend checking this guy out regardless, not just for that. Just continue working and expanding on the riff, maybe add some modular synths for color and whatnot. Either way, it's nice.
Interesting production, especially on the intro. Definitely not what I'm used to when it comes to Black Metal. Are you into Xasthur at all? Leviathan? Nocturnal Poisoning and Tenth Sub-level of Suicide are so great. I really like your tracks "of no significance" and "disorder" Some really nice stuff going on in those tracks. Didn't listen to the other ones cause I want to keep this short. Good stuff though man, cool to see there's new DBM coming out these days.
Definitely some cool shit going on. I see a lot of different influences here. Have you listened to MF doom at all? In your track "If I said it I meant it" You've got a nice track there, but you have sections with like a guitar or something playing a 1,2,3,1 (G, Ab, Bb, G) progression. I feel like you're missing the beat with them by just enough that it stands out. If I would recommend anything it would be to make those land right on beat 1. Not a tiny bit after it. You want those to establish the pulse, not ride behind it. Good stuff though, man
Mine Damn dude, your shit is tight.Let me know if you have an album out, I'd put it on my X1
Damn your stuff is really great. The beats are real tasty >We know different people Oh my god I feel like I'm playing a current gen Earthbound game, and it's amazing. You got some cool beats man, I'd love too see what kind of stuff you make later on. I really like "everytime"
I dig this a lot, great eerie atmosphere. The kick tends to get lost/muddy during the double bass parts, could use a little sidechain compression and/or different samples, imho.
Fuckin dope, reversed vox sound cool. Did you sample/take inspiration from Undertale?
Love the atmosphere and production, recording sounds solid. Boring chord progression/structure. Do more of that cool fingerpicking shit, maybe try and experiment a bit with extensions/chord substitutions etc.
>dysfunctional cowboy fuzz folk, I want to make alt-country-core, lo fi dad-scorning, second song I ever wrote, etc.
there was a guy in this other thread that asked if I play everything on these tracks idk if he's here but to answer his question; basically yes, I don't play the drums or the synths on these tracks so much as program them, songs are adapted from guitar and the embellishments are made in post
>returning all feedback as thoroughly as I can

I appreciate the constructive criticism more than you know. I'm trying to lay the ground work down now and get used to this recording business. I'll come back around to this song with your advice in mind.
>lofi song >bjork sample >other stuff consists of goth trap and lofi
Robert Hill
This is awesome, love everything about it. I've been thinking about getting a flute and teaching myself, any suggestions on going for this kind of sound?
youtube.com/watch?v=IKmSoOZrciM This isn't mine, I'm posting for a local band, but they need more attention in my opinion, they're one of the only one good local bands in my country. They really have something to show, even though it's only a demo, their breakdowns are pretty cool.
Man, this shit is fucking awesome. What are you using to record?
Ian Hall
don't be a dick
Josiah Parker
>Me
I hate the whole nasally pop-punk vocal thing, but I can't deny it's well executed. Cool blending of styles.
Dope flow
That first song is so beautifully weird and disturbing
Good, chill vibes, great use of samples. I think it'd sound cool if the drums opened up a little with some rides or something towards the end, but that's just imo.
Juan Scott
don't be so protective of your garbage
Dominic Taylor
Thanks! For guitar, I just DI into my interface with Bias FX which has some fantastic tones. Drums are all programmed, mostly samples from Ez Drummer. "Bass" is me playing the bassline on guitar and dropping it down an octave lol. All recorded w/ Ableton.
Zachary Gray
lol that wasn't even my track. just telling you not to be a dick to people. try it out.
Carson Gonzalez
oh I would but I don't find you to be anything more than a rat.
you don't have to be nice to me i dont care. but try spreading kindness instead of unconstructive negativity next time. might find it helps you feel better about yourself and with whatever it is you are struggling with in your life that makes you act like a dick to strangers on the internet. feel better!
>check it out if you like William Basinski, especially Watermusic. Stars of the Lid / Stephan Mathieu / Taylor Deupree / Kyle Bobby Dunn are also influences
