Is it happening again?

How do points work when a driver misses a race and he has a replacement?

Do they count towards his "seat"/number?

Do they count for Constructors?

>Do they count towards his "seat"/number?
No.

>Do they count for Constructors?
Yes.

>Do they count towards his "seat"/number?
>Do they count for Constructors?

It's not like they matter for McLaren anyway

Hello F1 community. This is my first post in this subreddit. Please go easy on me.

I am kinda new to this subreddit but i am watching F1 for more than 15 years until now. By the way i am 20 years and from Germany so there might be some mistakes in my post.

So with the upcoming Abu Dhabi GP, the last GP of this 2014 season nobody knows if Jenson Button will continue his F1 career with McLaren next season. This lack of knowledge and listening to his last interviews makes me as a huge fan feel really sad because Jenson Button was my favourite driver since he started in 2000 even if my mom told me i should pick a german driver like Michael Schumacher.

I honestly don't know why i chose Jenson and i can't remember it. I was 6 when he started with F1 but for me he had something that nobody other driver had. Since i was not able to speak Jenson as a kid i always called him Jason B. He was my hero and my biggest wish back then was to be a F1 driver like him! Now that i am 20 years old and Jenson is about to leave is a fact which makes me fell really sad and old. Right now as i am writing this i have tears in my eyes. I mean for 15 years all 14 days you spend your weekend with F1 and keep your fingers crossed for one driver. It's like a friend would leave you. I know there is a time for everyone but it's just all of a sudden.. I never expected or thought of Jenson leaving F1 by the end of this season.

It is a little bit equal to the situation back in winter 2008/2009 when nobody knows if Honda/Brawn will have a team or/and a car for the 2009 season. I was 15 and about to lose my favourite driver but then Brawn came out of nowhere with Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello as their drivers. In the end we all know that Jenson was able to win the championship and make himself a F1 world champion! So i will stay confident that an equal wonder will happen again and i can watch the Australian GP 2015 with Jenson on the grid!

The last couple of days I rewatched some old F1 races i have on videocassettes like his first win in Hungary 2006 and Brazil 2009 where he won the title. Man this team radio in the end.. I remember that I was singing this song for more than two weeks and everyone was complaining but i was just so happy that my driver won the championship. Maybe you also have someone special in your life and you can understand me? I could write endless stories about my moments with Jenson Button but i think that's the wrong time. As Jenson said in todays press conference: 'Live in the moment!'. Even Eric Boullier said he would prefer Jenson over Kevin Magnussen because of experience, etc. Also Alonso likes Button very much so everything i possible and I will enjoy this race like every other race the last 15 years! :]

Even if Jenson will retire by the end of this year i am so proud that i was your fan and i will follow your journey wherever it goes! But nothing is sure for now.

So to all Jenson Button fans in the world who are reading this what was your favourite Jenson Button moment? Not only in races, can also be interviews or other actions you can remember of Jenson.

I would be happy about every comment or story of Jenson, particulary from another Jenson Button fan!

Let's enjoy this race weekend! Start your engines!

Can we not do this Reddit spamming shit?

We get it, they're cancerous.
By posting it here we also become cancerous.

now that is some fine autism

Not undertanding irony

I merely cannot contain my excitement at the return of the 2009 World Driver's Champion Mr. Jenson Button MBE to the grid. I'm sure the true Britons would be here with me too if they weren't busy cleaning up the buckets of pre-cum thaat resulted from Alonso's headline.

Based alonso

hahahahaha we spammed /f1/ with r/formula1's most aspy shitposts
now /f1/ is a concentrated version of the worst of r/formula1
we've made /f1/ even worse than r/formula1!!!!

SO IRONIC

>Alonso would rather race in meme car 500 than in a Mclaren

Fucking kek

Wouldn't you?

>than in a Mclaren

*at Monaco, the le "jewel in the crown" of F1.

Based Dave

Max another podium in Abu Ghraib confirmed

why don't they list daddies net worth in the career summary?

So will Alonso die in an Indycar?

dubs confirm

Dubs and Alonso enters god mode and wins every F1 race for the rest of the year when he comes back

Pretty sure that's his plan, m8.

youtube.com/watch?v=a2uOwAFzKi4&t=59

well fuck

nice going, this is going to be insufferable

This season might be interesting after all...

Can Sup Forumslonso do any good at the 500. He has no previous experience with oval racing right?

I might take the week off work and enter the 500 as well.

You just turn left

>94
Is this a sign?

Post YFW Alonso decides to stay in Indycar and not return to F1

Post yfw Jezza replaces him at Mclaren

>Alonso missing Monaco to do the Indy 500

So is the sub4chan any good?

Faster and more dangerous than any f1 race

>tfw it isn't Jenson entering the 500 and hopefully being killed in a horrific accident

This is bullshit.

Indy is the least oval oval. There's only one line through the corners so passing has to be done on entry which is pretty much how road racing works. The only difference is he will have to draft instead of use DRS

>Faster and more dangerous than any f1 race

Would be based, Indy is a much more entertaining series

F1 average speed: ~130mph
Indy average speed at Indianapolis: ~210 mph

Yeah not shit, you just turn left constantly

Maybe if they had to turn right they wouldnt be able to go so fast

>Typical cruising air speed for long-distance commercial passenger flights is 575mph

F1 BTFO

racer.com/indycar/item/139540-the-key-to-alonso-s-indy-deal-stefan-wilson

I could see him doing a year of IndyCar to wind his career down. Probably more fun at this point.
>ie, less pressure/constant media bullshit

He's correct though.

And have you even actually watched an Indycar race? Most of them are not on ovals.

GOATlonso
So this will be the first Indy race I will ever see. Is he going to a team that has any hope of competing?
Is it an oval?
How many laps?
How long will the race go on for?

guess I'm a indy 500 missile now, what is the ETA to race start

Would be nice to be able to go see him stateside too. Haven't been to an F1 race sice US grand Prix left Indianapolis

>don't debut in indy and nascar on the same day
what a pussy

>Yes the team is decent though they've had a couple struggles last weekend
>2.5 mile oval
>200 laps
>It will be a several hour race

>Indianapolis
>"Is it an oval?"

>Turn Left for a few hours
>be rich
Amercan Dream is alive and well.

There's a cutie race track in the middle to be fair

>implying Alonso won't win Indy 500 easily

Indycar is a fucking joke, second and third rate F1 drivers generally end up doing well. All the guys are old, and the quality of drivers is so low that someone like Alexander Rossi is a "hot prospect".

I truly hope there is a 250 lap battle for the lead featuring Alonso and Montoya, the only two actually exceptional drivers in that series

Yeah but I mean know your freakin history, Ireland

I'd expect Britain to be a little less booty blasted since they're going to have their nation's last WDC back in F1.

Who knows though, maybe you're upset since you're Mclarens last fan.

1. I thought the Indy 500 was just named that because it's Indy car. Is it really a reference to a single track? that's very odd. Would they change the name of the series to whatever track to race on that weekend and the distance covered?
2. Indianapolis has a GP track obviously.
3. Automatically assume any American race is turn-left and you have a bunch of pissing and moaning for a reply.

Breaking news: A marginal driver in the top series in the world is a hot commodity further down the ladder.

Also for anyone that didn't watch the actual race last year, Rossi backed into the win and coasted across the line on fuel milage. It was his only podium of the year.

They've been racing the 500 mile race at the Indianapolis oval track since 1911. It's leaps and bounds the most popular and prestigious open wheel race in the country, so that's probably why they just named the series after the thing back in the 90s or whenever.

>you know remember that Schumi once called Indianapolis a "boring Go-Kart track"

should have just done in the race in the oval, 2bh

Yeah my point is that people like Alex Rossi or Max Chilton aren't exactly on the same level as Alonso, who is generally agreed to be in the top 3 best F1 drivers of the past 15 or so years

And yea Rossi's win was a meme but he is still hyped up because of it

You'll love it lad. Best race of the year, every year. Perfect antidiote to Monaco's snorefest.

He's driving for Andretti, one of the best teams in the history of the sport. They've switched to Honda this year and their last race consisted of:
>The Michael Andretti-led squad endured a disastrous day in Southern California, with four DNFs
>sensor issue
>inexplicably lost power on lap 78
>suffered an obvious engine failure
>stalled
>It was something electrical

But he'll be in the same team as Takuma "BASED as fuck" Sato. Also Montoya is doing the race as a one-off. So hoping for ALO vs JPM too.

Hamilton = Tiger Woods
Alonso = Sergio Garcia

>This is a race track

wtf America?

He'll probably wreck the car at some point in the testing/practice (almost everyone does, it goes on for like a fucking month), hope he doesn't get spooked and bolt.

If you turn right at Indy your average speed would be "0".

>"that was the best crash I ever did"

>ALO will win the Triple Crown
>F1 Monaco GP winner
>Indy500 winner
>Le Meme winner
BEST
OF
ALL
POSSIBLE
TIMELINES

will he cum in indycars?

>they are like other atheletes from their own countries but in different sports
Terrible analogy user
Hamilton's career = Schumacher in 2002 (Lucky to be in the right place at the right time and no challenge)
Alonso's career = Schumacher in 1999 (Absolutely no luck but everything he earned was hard fought)

I will

...

Golf is not a sport, though.

If you shat in the fuel tank during a pit stop how long would the car run for you reckon? Also would consistency effect this, like a runny shit I imagine would mix better than some solid lump right

fucking anime posters

quit posting these images drawn by sweaty palmed chinks

reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

>Burgers claim Indycar is harder than F1
>The last edition of their most important race was won by a rookie rejected by F1 because too shit and too poor

Pottery

This is bullshit. If Alonso wants to race oval, he should pick the best track.

Lift and coasting literally won the Meme 500

I don't think anything solid would affect it unless it dissolves
but the runny shit might cause problems with the fuel flow or if it gets to the cylinders

Tell us about that grime music you blacks like

>Alonso at Indy 500

DOES THAT MEAN THE BIONIC BUTTON WILL RETURN TO F1 FOR MONACO??

>RACE

Here's a preview of the Indy 500
youtube.com/watch?v=14J3esvACe4

When America started racing motorcars the only place we had where the cops couldn't run us off was a nice farm with a Horse racing track.

Need I remind you that No one bitches about horse racing being turn left.

FTFY

would watch/10

Jenson was a great Champion, he drove masterfully that year

>the major news is that Alonso will not drive in Monaco and not that he will race in the Indy 500.
How can Americans EVER recover?

way too complicated

turn 3 and 4 aren't the same as the first two

no potential

>McLaren's face when

Post YFW Jezza does better than Alonso, and it turns out the car and engine aren't crap, it's just Alonso being past it

Someone have a list with all the drivers for that race?

Reubens Barichello did decent when he raced in IndyCar for a few years. Ovals are an adjustment, it's a big momentum game and there are a lot of forces in play not relevant in road racing.

>Half-mile track
>30 degree banking
>150,000 seat coliseum
>12 second lap times

It's literally the only good thing about NASCAR.

>ovals
>not equilateral triangles

>tfw Alonso will win Indy 500
>tfw next year he teams up with Montoya and Porsche and wins le Le mans

Post yfw.

>2017
>still no star of David race track

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pocono_Raceway

>clarkson

It still hurts.
I usually enjoy things people bitch about, I guess you could say I'm easily pleased. But their new show... Let's put it this way, it's not great. I have watched the special and all the previous episodes before it. The army episode was an unfunny disaster, their running """jokes""" (celebrity dies, "does that mean he is not coming on then", the american) are all horrible.

And somehow, it feels even more scripted and robotic than top gear. What I want to say is if even I think something is bad, then you know it's really fucking bad.

Watch new Top Gear instead, it's actually pretty good now that the ginger is kill.

Lads, 9th wedding anniversary and wifey won't put out, what do?
