Technically proficient. Only criticism towards that is some bends go off pitch and there's some painful pick squeaks here and there.
Kind of an awkward sense of melody. Once you move away from licks it starts to sound like you're moving aimlessly between notes without any intention other than staying in designated shapes
>Once you move away from licks it starts to sound like you're moving aimlessly between notes without any intention other than staying in designated shapes iktf

Currently play guitar, I want to get a bass to fuck around with and expose myself to new genres I would otherwise never play
Local stores have a squier jaguar for 160 or an epiphone viola bass for 250. Those are just my two favorite designs, anything I should know as a beginner about these two so I don't shoot myself in the foot? Should I be looking elsewhere? Thanks
m.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-i1XZc8ZwA ^ /gg/ why would someone add all those extra frets to a guitar when they can barely play the ones already on there?
Landon Allen
i notice, askin because the tone

To use something other than the standard western 12 tone system.
Kind of obvious.
Hunter Taylor

how do you differentiate between the bass guitar and the bow bass in english? in norwegian its bassgitar and kontrabass
Evan Stewart
I'd get the jag as most people I've met don't actually like playing viola basses; they say they feel too delicate and that there isn't a good place to rest your hand.
I like them, but you really can't go wrong with the jag bass
Reminder that Levi Clay's /ourguy/ He represents what every single guitarist stands for.

Anyone here prefer silk and steel strings for acoustic? Have been learning for three months, just tried silk and steel for the first time and suddenly I can do barre chords effortlessly. Feels good man.
David Collins
Stop being such a fag.
Matthew Wright
Nah. Other than lower cost I see no benefit to going back to the light strings recommended for my guitar size, especially since I don't play with a plectrum.
Justin Morales

After 10+ years with the same old guitar I finally did it. A new one. Handmade Flamenco guitar bought in Granada. The time I had to wait for the shipment to arrive was god damn nerve-wracking.
Sebastian Baker
Very pretty user. How much did that set you back?

Help me understand scales bros - So if I learn the G major scale and if someone else plays a chord a progression that starts with the G. I just play parts of the G scale and it sounds good? And where do the other scales like the minor pentatonic come in?
Nicholas Campbell
what do guitarfags think about rodrigo?
Ayden Evans
>I just play parts of the G scale and it sounds good? If it's in the key of G, yes. Pentatonic is good to use if you're not quite sure what key the song is in. Maybe look into modes a bit.
Jackson White
1500€ and But I'm really happy. I was able to take a look at the workshop where it is made and watch the maker while working on a new one. It was a super tiny workshop just a little underneath the Alhambra. The sound it makes is very full and the notes come out so easy. Its so delicate and small but with a huge sound. I'm not an expert but I think is up there with the more expensive manufacturers like Cordoba etc.
Elijah Sanchez
in G yeah. basically.
Jaxon Powell
>Handmade Flamenco guitar bought in Granada.
Shit user that might be on of the nicest guitars posted here.
Wyatt Stewart
how do I alvvays?
Nathaniel Martinez
The point of learning the major scale is that ALL western chords, scales, and progressions are based of of its intervals, which translates to numerals for mental manipulation.
Hunter Scott
that is a terrible shop why?
Colton Gray
how to make songs /gg/ i have some riffs but cant turn them into an original song. and now i want to try it because a friend started writing lyrics
David Young
Thanks. It is quite the gem for me now.
The photo was taken in my bedroom or what exactly are you referring to?

Cool thanks and >If it's in the key of G, yes. The key is the first chord played right in a progression?

So I kinda wanna learn bass, is it very different from guitar?
Luke Wilson
>So I kinda wanna learn bass
Chase Lewis
It's function is different, and in most genres it's more simple than guitar. It's easy to play with a pick but proper plucking technique takes a while to develop
Nathaniel Miller
you're thinking about it too much
good music comes from yourself, we cant tell you how to make an original song for you that you'll like
if you are thinking about what other peoples' opinion will be of your riffs, you're doing it wrong. if you cant make riffs that even only you like, you arent musical and should probably listen to more music or give songwriting a break
Ayden Hernandez
i like my riffs, as i said i have a few made, but i cant make a whole song out of them
Oliver Peterson
im not sure what you want to be told. music is self expression, if you have your hand held by strangers on the internet while you write a song its gonna sound like shit because i bet you dont like what us strangers like.
you turn your riffs into a song by putting them together and throwing the words on top. is that what you're looking for? maybe you can have one of your riffs be for the verse and another for the chorus?
just listen to the music you like and follow a similar structure
this is solid playing user, though there are just a couple parts where it seems you lose the musical idea in your head of what you're going for and start playing random notes a little
you got chops, great tone
Adam Nelson
So I've this for a while, how do I direct input it into my laptop without frying my laptop?
